Chapter 59-Day 5

Rashu immediately enters into Lintian’s conscious mind and sent a little soul shock across his body. In that instant Lintian felt his head got hit by a baseball bat. His eyes opened up in surprise and looks around. His body felt lighter and stronger than before. If he fought those wolves now he would have a decent chance of winning. Maybe 60 to 70 percent chance.

“Your body was going through a lightning essence refinement. If I didn't wake you, you would have died on the spot,” Rashu sighs.

“Lightning essence refinement?”

“It is when you use the element affinity to refine your body. Each different element refines a different attribute and reinforce specific attribute such as speed, strength, defense, attack, endurance. For example, Lightning is speed but it also strengthens body a little. Earth essence strengthens body. Fire essence strengthens the power of your qi and your body too so you can withstand the upgrade. Water strengthens endurance and a little of the other attributes. Wind strengthen’s speed but not as intense as lightning furthermore it also increases endurance a bit. Each element strengthens different parts of your attributes but this is normally done through training and a specific body training conditioning,” Rashu said and left out the part where he is special to the elements since he does not want to have Lintian get in over his head, “you just started so this is pretty good. You must have exceptional affinity with the lightning element.”

“Really?” Lintian asks his eyes grower larger but the second. “Why would I die then?”

“You need to eat more so the body has something to refine besides your muscles and bones,” Rashu laughs.

“Oh. Good thing I packed some food before we left.” Lintian brought out a whole feast and began to eat again.

After that he enters into that state again and began the whole process over again. Once he was running out of nutrient again Rashu would wake him up. After doing this 3 more times Lintian finally ran out of food. This happened over a course of 5 hours.

“That should be enough to open the door.”

Lintian used the Emperor’s steps to move to the blue stone on the wall. It seems his speed has increase again. There were less strain on his ankles too. He felt like he could use the Xiang step of the Emperor’s Steps like a breeze. He was also able to move at 400 meters per second with close to perfect control too. Lintian puts his hand on the stone. In a second Lintian channels his lightning qi at the stone. The next instant the wall began to glow blue and the yellow lines began to flash.

The walls and doors began to rumble. The whole wall moves up. Revealing a giant room about the size of a football field. A whole bunch of yellow lines were criss-crossing everywhere. Just looking gave Lintian a headache.

Rashu looks and saw an extremely powerful formation. It was a pocket dimension formation. Someone would have to be at least a Rank 8 spell master to do this.

So let me explain how the ranking for spell masters work. Rank one is really basic. Its lacks attacking power but it is great for moving things. Basically it gets the mechanics down. Starting small fires, moving objects under 50 pounds. Rank two is when the spell’s strength is equivalent to a martial realm cultivation. Rank three is master realm. Rank four is King’s realm. Rank five is a weird rank. There is no power increase and this is the rank 70 percent of all spell masters get stuck on this rank. This Rank is known as the rank of laws. One must be able to comprehend the laws of the world for you to overcome it. Normally a Spell master would comprehend an elemental law to proceed. This was the easiest path since you all need to comprehend about 10 percent of it. Rank 6 is the upper echelons of the Heaven’s realm. Rank 7 is Ancestor realm. Rank 8 Titan’s realm. Just like the Titan realm this rank is know as the world construction rank. Those who can enter this rank is even fewer than those who can enter the Titan’s realm. What confused Rashu the most was that this dungeon was made by a mere ancestor realm cultivator from the looks of it but this person is able to or get the help of a rank 8 spell master’s help?

Rashu decided that there was no point pondering over this and helped Lintian figure out the next task.

“Your final task will be your easiest and yet your hardest. The room that will open depends on you. I placed 10 treasures in the next room. If you can achieve beyond my expectations there will be a spectacular reward. Tier three demonic beast will be released in waves. Wave one will be only one demonic beast. Wave two will be two. Wave three will be four. Each wave will double itself. When you yell out STOP! The waves will naturally end. Survive beyond your limit and your reward will be greater than what you will naturally achieve. Know your limitations and no yourself. Treasure are only treasures in the end your life is most precious. PS. The treasures do not accumulate. There is only one treasure for each rank. Each wave does not correspond to each rank. First you quit before the first wave you will not receive any treasure but will get a special stone. Good luck!”

Rashu read this out loud and was somewhat astonished by this. This dungeon really is weird.

Lintian gulps down a mouth full of anxiety thinking about this challenge.

Soon a dimensional pocket appears and a thunder wolf jumps out. It was tier three. In order to conserve strength Lintian has Kyuri come out and help too. Before Lintian might have had trouble with this, but now Lintian strolls over in a leisure and cuts off its head. When Lintian was strolling over it attacked. Its speed was still extremely fast but Lintian could see every movement in detail plus he still has his uncle’s heaven realm qi knife. His moves were smooth and efficient. There was barely any waste of movements for his level of experience in combat. There was still a long way to go but right now he is reaching a ceiling.

Once this one died another pocket dimension opened up and two more demonic beast popped out. This time is was a thunder leopard and a thunder mouse. Lintian originally thought it was going to be all thunder wolves but this change worried him a little. Now he has to move to the beat of different demonic beast. Lintian remembers these two demonic beasts from the companion shop. Both the leopard and the rat has high speed and attack but low in defense. Furthermore it is less balanced than the wolves but due to the speed and attack he cannot be careless.

The leopard was a normal size leopard while the rate was the size equivalent to a medium size dog.

The both launches their assault on Lintian. Coming in from both sides. Kyuri who stayed in camouflage mode appears out of nowhere and bit in the leopard viciously. Lintian dodge’s the thunder rat’s vicious teeth and sliced him in half. In another two-seconds Kyuri has slain the thunder leopard easily. It seems that Kyuri also benefited from Lintian’s upgrade. Kyuri was twice as fast as before and his attacks now contains a hint of lightning. Even through he is only tier two due to his dragon bloodline and the reinforcement from Lintian’s lightning essence his strength was comparable to the upper strength of a tier three demonic beast.

Lintian was trying to conserve strength and did not even bother entering stage two of the martial realm. If it was not for the heaven’s qi knife he would not have been able to kill those tier three so easily. This was because Lintian’s speed is faster than these demonic beast might a bit but his defense, and attack power were just above average for human cultivators but definitely not comparable to a Master realm expert.

Furthermore Lintian was feeling that the heavens qi in the knife was running low. He might be able to use it on another 20 to 30 demonic beasts but after that it would become useless. By Lintian’s calculations it would be useful for two more waves and half of wave five. This is because eat waves doubles itself. So, 1, 2, 4, 8 and then 16.

Then four tier three demonic beast jumps out of a pocket dimension. This time it is four thunder wolves. They spread out and charges over. Kyuri attacks one viciously. Lintian used the emperor’s stems and appeared right besides one and launches the soul penetrating punch at the head of the thunder wolf. Lintian heard a small crack at the skull but it did not kill the wolf. Just sent it into a stun state. Lintian decided to used the soul penetrating fist again. This time the wolf flew away and hits the wall while another wolf leaps in to kill Lintian. Lintian seeing all this spins around with the heaven’s qi knife in his hand and cuts of its head.

One Lintian counted.

Kyuri managed to kill two off too. He gulps down both of the demonic cores which restores some of his energy.

With Kyuri’s help I might be able to use this knife for quite a few rounds Lintian thought.

The next wave that came was 8 demonic beast. Two rats, two snakes, two bears, and two leopards.

Looking at this line up Lintian’s heart stuttered and cold sweat formed on his back.
