《Asura》Chapter 30-Death By Suicide

Dr. Harris digs into the boars chest and rips out the demonic core.
“Lintian do you know why the rankings for tier beasts start at the martial realm stage?” Harris questions.
“The reason is because demonic beast do not form a demonic core crystal until they reach the first stage of the martial realm. Before that they are like us except they can naturally absorb qi from the air without even trying.”
“Correct,” Harris said and his hand began to emulate a blue thick light that ingulf the demonic core. He tosses Lintian the demonic core, “Lintian here. I used a rank 1 formation on the core to purify 80 percent of the qi. Its purer now and has less of the demonic characteristic in it. I want you to wear this head band starting now. So I can monitor your brave waves. To see how it changes every time you absorb a core. We will use you as of now as the original model.”
Lintian looks at the headband that Dr. Harris pulls out from his inter-spatial ring. It looks like any old headband that people wears for sports but it has 7 small green metal circles connected by a thread spread around it. It looks really embarrassing to wear. Lintian puts it on unwillingly but if it will help it doesn't matter how embarrassing it is.
When Lintian puts it on, a hologram screen pops up on Harris’s wrist. Harris click some buttons and said, “Lintian began the absorption process.”
“Ok,” Lintian answers and began to focus on the demonic core. Lintian felt the energy turning into a stream of qi as it enter his body. He guided the energy to the meridian points he wants to open. Lintian could feel that this energy was different from the boar he absorbed before. It was a lot calmer and way less fierce. The effect was also less proficient but that was probable because it is a tier one beast and not a tier two. After 10 minutes Lintian absorbed the demonic core dry. Lintian estimated that he needs either 4 tier two demonic beast or 17 tier one beasts. This is only an estimate and in truth can vary by a bit.
Harris looks at his watch and recorded all the data.
“Lets move on to the next beast. From the looks of this tier one beast seems to have no effect on your overall brain activity. Lets try tier two and see where that leads us.”

“Also I already implanted trackers on all 7 of the tier two so we can find them easy,” Dr. Harris added.
Lintian followed behind Harris. Harris kept a slow pace so Lintian wouldn’t get lost. Since this was the boar’s territory not a lot of other demonic beast were around making it easier for them to move around. If a tier three or four came even he would have trouble dealing with them. He was at stage 8 of the martial realm but his knowledge and talent in formations makes him as frightening as a cultivator in the mid stages of the Master Realm, or so he led others to believe.
After about five minutes they found the tier 2 boar. It was 10 meters away from him. Dr. Harris signals Lintian to hide and do a surprise attack. Harris quickly hid into the trees as not to spook the boar. Lintian hiding behind trees, and bushes creeps closer to the boar. Lintian as never done this before so when he was about seven meters the boar notices him.
It felt that Lintian was challenging his territory and began his charge. Lintian dodged as quickly as he could and tried to cut the boar but the blade couldn't even draw blood. It was like using a normal kitchen knife to try and cut open a stone. Utterly almost impossible.
Lintian withdrew the sword and retreated. Lintian could now feel the difference between heaven qi and martial qi. It was like the difference of power between a bb gun and an actual hand gun.
Walking cautiously in a circular motion Lintian looked for a weak spot. He has done his research on the computer and he knows the boar’s autonomy quite well if not better than the boar himself. I will not be able to break his skin no matter what I do, Lintian thought. At my current level I don't have the skills to do it with this sword. Lintian remembers his father’s saying to fight smart not stupid. If the skin is too tough then the eyes will have to do, he thought. Since if he stabs through the eye it will reach the brain.
Lintian charged toward the boar. He felt that Dr. Harris would jump down to save him if there is any danger. The boar also decided to charge at Lintian. Lintian thrust the sword forward at the eye. Then he used the emperor’s step retreat to move backwards at a constant speed in order to prevent himself from being hit by the boar. The sword thrust missed the eye and hit the temple of the boar. Which did not do anything at all, since he failed Lintian used the emperor’s steps to dodge to the side. Still gotta work on my sword skills he thought. Lintian has never truly practice with a sword since he grew up. It was always his fists and legs that were constantly trained. Therefore when he has to use a sword no matter how good his hand eye coordinations are against a moving target it would be extremely tough to hit the mark.

The boar hit the tree causing a slight rumble before the tree fell to the ground. Lets try again thought Lintian. After three more attempts Lintian was finally able to hit the eye and the sword slid through the eye socket with ease. It didn’t immediately kill the boar so Lintian let go of the sword and dodged. While the boar hit the tree and ended up killing himself. Death by suicide.
Dr. Harris came down and ended the boar’s life. He felt pity for the boar and killed it straight off. He then digs out the demonic core and did the same process to the core before handing it to Lintian to absorb. Lintian could feel the effect of the core immediately. It was much stronger than the tier one boar. The flow of the qi was stronger but still calm and controllable thanks to Dr. Harris. While Lintian was absorbing it, Dr. Harris was checking his brain activity. Still normal he thought.
They went off to search for another tier two boar again after a twenty minute rest. Lintian did the same thing again and killed the boars by stabbing through the eye and the boar kill itself by slamming into the tree. Dr. Harris did not put a formation on the demonic core this time when he handed Lintian the core. Lintian began the absorbing process again. The qi was still flowing through as proficient as before but this time it has a wild side to it. It would try to attack the veins but the asura side of Lintian’s qi would quickly suppress it. Even through Lintian was only in the refinement stage the asura part of his veins releases cells that possesses such domineering aura that martial realm qi simple could not do anything about it.
This time Harris saw certain parts of Lintian’s brain surge up and down in a very volatility motion. Eventually it calms down to the point like it never happened before. For the rest of the day they would search and kill. All the boars died by the same method unintentional suicide. Harris would also switch between the cores in order to better access the effect of the cores accurately.
On the fifth core Lintian made a breakthrough. His fifth meridian point opened up. He could also feel his dantian fill up with qi by a bit.
“Dr. Harris I just opened the fifth point. Should we stop for now?” Asked Lintian.
“Yes that would be a good idea. I still need to go over the datas I discovered today.
We will take a rest tomorrow and continue the day after. Don’t practice the martial art I gave you today for the rest of the day. Your body needs rest. It seems you were still try to use qi intensively after you came back today. Let your body rest and absorb the information from today.”
Harris brought Lintian back to his house. Kyuri was following in the trees without Harris even noticing. It’s animal instincts kicked in to help it hide and sneak so well. Once Harris left Kyuri came out. It stared intently at the core in Lintian’s hand.
Noticing this Lintian took out the five dried up core he got today and handed it to him. Kyuri began to chew on one of the core and at it. It was a strange site to behold. Kyuri who was only two feet big was eating the cores the size of an apple. After all five cores were eaten, Kyuri was satisfied and directly went into the beast cube to rest. Lintian went to his room and began to research the reason for Kyuri’s appetite.

The Order
The Order takes place within the Human-led Empire, within Glory City. In this Empire in which Magic is policed and its use is regulated, Mages are required to have a licence in order to practice Magic. The Magically inclined, Non-Human Races that have lived under Human rule lived a markedly different life to Humans, which had led to a somewhat contentious relationship. A law enforcement agency known as The Order is responsible for maintaining Magical order, and is also responsible for doling out justice to those who break the law. Consisting of the Magic using Mages, and the more technologically inclined Knights, these Agents are regarded as protectors by some, but as oppressors by many. The tale follows the exploits of Izano Zuko, a mysterious man, covered from head to toe in burn scars and wrapped in bandages. He arrives in Glory City with the backing of the City Lord, unknown abilities and secret intentions. Trouble starts up almost as soon as he arrives, and Zuko is thrown into a conflict between the Order and an unknown enemy. This is a complete book, and I plan to upload a chapter every week or so. No cover as yet.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
