《Asura》Chapter 24-Experience

It was a wild tusk boar. The tusk boar is a tier 2 beast. It is a beast that is in the upper Martial realm. It had two tusks barging out from the side of his mouth. Its hind leg was bulging with muscle and strength while his front two legs were slightly weaker. Its body looks extremely tough. This is going to be tough, thought Lintian. Lintian remembers from the database at the Companion shop that the tusk boar has tough skin comparable to a rock and great offensive strength. Its speed was around 70 mph but it was also it's greatest weakness. The boar couldn't change directions during its charge. This was the perfect opponent for Lintian whose attack and defense were low but maneuverability was high. Meaning he can hit without being hit. The only issue was it was in the upper martial realm so it was definitely not weak. Also there was a whole realm worth of difference between the two. Meaning if Lintian was ever hit it would be lights out. Furthermore his qi was limited so he cannot drag this out. Lintian also caught one of Kyuri’s thought when it was hiding in the tree. “Better than chicken leg?”.
The boar caught sight of Lintian and began to charge at him. Lintian used his Emperor’s step Bi to evade the board charge. He quickly activated the interspatial ring and brought out the heaven qi knife. His uncle had imbedded his own qi into it again before he left. The boar crashed into a tree behind Lintian.
The two feet thick tree started too crack and bent over before it finally crashed onto the floor. Lintian was a bit surprised and began to fear for Kyuri and Yuki who were in the trees. After locating the two he moves away from their tree. The boar charged at Lintian again and again Lintian dodged but this time he tried to cut the boar. When the knife came into contact with its skin the boar's eyes flash with anger.
It wasn’t easy for Lintian either. Trying to cut its skin was relatively easy body trying to control and maneuver his body in the instant speed of the Emperor Steps was extremely hard. He still managed to draw some blood but it was shallow. It barely counted as an injury to the boar. It crashed into the tree again and topples it over.
Lintian originally thought it was going to be extremely easy to injure it but everyone time he go close his body and mind got scared and would unconsciously retreat.
This action between the two repeated for a couple times. To be completely honest the boar’s intelligence wasn’t too bright.
Then on the sixth attempt the boar intentional charged at Lintian at a slower pace but Lintian did not notice this at all. So Lintian evaded again and tried to cut it but it suddenly it releases explosive qi from the body.

Knocking Lintian far back and crashing onto a tree. Lintian spit up a bit of blood but was temporarily fine. He managed to react to it last second and retreated used tui which reduced the damage.
“Ouch” he gasped to himself. This time the boar charges at him at full speed. Still a little dazed Lintian evade just a second before the boar reaches him. This time Lintian stabbed at it. He learned that every time the boar crashed into the tree it was always dazed for about a second to two seconds. He stabbed once and retreated. This was a deep wound. The knife was about a feet long but only two inches wide. It missed the vital spot and it hit a rib cage bone before Lintian pulled it back. A little stream of blood began to flow like a river from the wound.
He still hasn’t accumulated enough battle experience to fully utilize this knife in combat. He was aiming for the boar’s stomach but he wasn’t able to time it right and hit the rib case. He got impatient and rushed it.
Lintian retreated a couple steps back and some more. The wound he inflicted was not critical to the boar at all. His internal injuries were still quite light but if this goes on to long it would become pragmatic. His reserve of qi was almost used up too. At most he, can probable use emperor’s step four to five more time. Since his dragon eyes were using up qi too.
Lintian’s brain were going over almost every possible attack he can to preserve his qi, sustain minimum injure and not get killed. Cold sweat was rolling down his forehead like an ice cube on a sunny day. He can feel the grim reaper’s scythe at his throat. If he runs out of qi he dies since there’s no way he can dodge that speed without the emperor’s step technique. Furthermore the boar’s charge still gives the boar 45 degrees worth of movement space from each side.
“I got four tries to end this” Lintian thought to himself. He dashed to the right drawing the boar’s attention. The boar began to charge again. Lintian backed up to a tree before activating evade again and stabbed at it again but this time he aimed for an old wound. He missed. Just by an inch. He quickly retreated again. The issue here was not intelligence but more like experience and muscle memory. It was similar to a martial artist being told to use a sword and hit a still target at full power. Even through he has mental experience his body will simply not listen enough to have precision over the sword.
Three more tries. Wait, Lintian thought, why am I aiming for the hardest part of the body. I can aim for the eyes. No I can’t it’s too close to the horns. Maybe I can disable him. The hind legs move fast but the roots stays exactly where it is.

This time the boar slowed down its charge but it was still fast. This time Lintian could read the change in speed.
Yuki hidden in the tree’s leaves was amazed by Lintian movements. Her brother Kira was also in the martial realm but his movements were not as fast and nimble and yet Lintian’s speed as a refinement realm cultivator was comparable to a Martial realm cultivator. She also notices that Lintian’s knife was special. For a refinement realm cultivator to injure a beast of the second tier with a normal knife was unheard off.
Every time she saw the boar charge her heart rate spikes like the fourth of July. Beads of sweat ran down her forehead in fear for Lintian especially since she always sees Lintian’s after image get pierced through. Her heart would skip a beat for a whole second watching every charge.
Lintian operated the Emperor’s step and dodge to the right side and but this time he moved further back since the boar released explosive qi again. Once he felt the qi released Lintian used invade to charge forward as the boar crashed into the tree. The knife pierces through the left thigh of the leg ad completely through. The he pulled out the knife in a slicing motion cutting multiple tendons along with it.
Lintian quickly retreated. After using the Emperor’s Step to dodge and invade. He only has one more attempt left. This technique consumes too much qi for him right now. His next attempt would be a huge risk since it would have to aim for the lungs of the boar. Any other injures he does, would never be able to kill it off. Also if he doesn’t kill it at this attempt he would soon die. Since, he can’t dodge anymore after this.
The boar in an insane state began to charge again. Its speed was dramatically reduced from 70 mph to around 30 mph. It was an acceptable speed that lowers the risk. Lintian dodged to the left this time because the boar was unconsciously going to Lintian’s right due to the rear left leg injury. With the knife in his right hand he drove that into the boar’s chest. The boar seeing this use his head to deflect the knife but Lintian with the dragon eyes saw it going downward in slow motion. Lintian moves his hand in a curve motion downward and then angles the tip of the knife upward, which, pierce right through the throat. When the knife hit the spinal bone a shockwave echoed through his arm and Lintian quickly released the knife. The sensation was similar to taking a metal bat and hitting a metal wall at full speed.
Lintian jumped backwards and retreated as quickly as possible. The boar was not dead yet. It kept limping around. Blood gush out from the rear leg side and the throat.
“Um Yuki a bit of help here,” Lintian shouted up since he only had enough qi to sustain the Dragon eyes for about another thirty seconds if not less. The boar began to charge again and Lintian ran behind a tree at the fastest pace he could.
It hit the tree again but the impact was weak. It left a little dent and that was it. When the impact happened the chin went downward while the chest puffed upwards and toward the tree causing the tilt of the knife to hit the try which in return cause the blade to cut outward, cutting the head halfway in half.
“Suicidal much?” questioned Lintian. He did not expect the boar to be this dumb. Oh well he thought. The boar whimper for a couple more minutes before it died. The knife cut also injured it’s spinal cord.
Lintian pulls the knife out and wipes the blood away while Yuki and Kyuri came down from the tree.
“Lintian are you injured anywhere?” Yuki asked. Kyuri went over the board and began biting on one of it’s leg.
“Yeah I’m fine. Just some small injures no worries,” he reassured Yuki and then sent a mental message to Kyuri to stop eating the boar. “Yuki I need to check if the boar is still alive. Wait a second.”
“Um. Sure.”
Lintian set down puts his hand on the head of the boar and began the absorbing method. He located the dantian of the boar and began to absorb it. He then channeled that energy to open on of the meridian points. It was the fifth point. The heaven qi from before already opened it half way. The boar energy kept on flowing through and mining that point. After what seems to be about half an hour Lintian stopped. All the energy from the boar has been refine he can even feel his own dantian fill up by 1/20th of the space. By his estimation he would have to catch three more boars of this level to open the fifth meridian point.
“It's dead. You guys hungry?” Lintian asks as he used his interspatial ring to pull out a rod, fire starter, and some spice. When he was six he went camping with his uncle so he was somewhat familiar with it.
“Yeah,” Yuki answered and Kyuri nodded his head.
Lintian began to cut up the boar with the qi knife and then he hit a hard object in the stomach. It was a beast energy core but it seems that all the energy has been drained. Immediately Lintian knew that he wasn’t really absorbing the beast’s dantian but the energy core. Therefore he doesn’t have to everything here. He can just kill and began the refinement process at home in his room.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

DarkBoi69's mediocre, rushed and badly-written aventure
Follow DarkBoi69's edgy adventure as I move him through a shitty plot where he meets terribly-written characters like angry evil stupid villains and naive cute useless busty women. This story is not really an actual serious story but simply a writing exercise for me to focus on overall writing speed, forcefully insert some writing in my everyday life to increase productivity and most importantly help with turning ideas, thoughts or feelings into writing directly without feeling blocked, hopefully trying to achieve something as close as possible to writing unconsciously what i’m thinking about. I'll probably try to do something like writing as much in 30 mins as I can, nearly every-day. So far I've only done this once and it already seems like a pretty good thing to do. I don’t have anything planned and that’s probably going to be a constant for every one of these exercises, so it’ll end up being not very good (although maybe better than it has any right to be? ) and nonsensical.
