Heather was at her mother's bedside when the system had arrived.
Her long brown hair all disheveled.
She had seen the golden figure speaking on TV.
And when the choice of tutorial zones came up she had little interest.
Then her mother had woken up.
"Heather?" She spoke weakly, her voice withered from disuse.
"Mom your awake! Don't talk...Here!" Heather said franically as she grabbed a glass of water from the bedside table and pressed it to her mother's lips.
Slowly she drank.
When she had, had enough water she looked to her daughter, but before she could speak a blue box appeared for her as well.
"Can you see this too Heather?"
"Yeah mom I can."
"It's telling me that if I choose one of these options, it can make me strong again." Her mother's eyes shifted to look at her daughter.
"I'm going to choose the normal option." She said with determination.
Heather looked at her mother in silence as her mind raced.
With a sigh Heather grasped her mother's hand and said, "Let's do this together then Mom." She said with a weak smile.
She had never been able to change her mother's mind once she had set it to something.
Slowly she helped her mother to raise her hand and together they tapped the Normal option.
In a flash of light, they were gone.
--------------------------------------------
The first things she saw when the light died down was beautiful grassy hills.
Then she recieved a notice.
Your mother has been rendered into the care of a system hospital...
She smiled bitterly, hoping for these blue boxes to make good on their promis to her mother.
More flashes of light came and went and left in their wake was more people.
Tens...

She turned around to see a wall of green trees. Through the branches she could see a nice sized lake.
Already people were standing at its shores admiring its beauty.
More flashes. Then there were hundreds of people.
She watched in awe and amazement as the seconds ticked by and ever more people arrived in numerous flashes of light.
Soon she was surrounded by what must have been thousands of people.
A new notice appeared.
Normal tutorial zone #A7550B has reached its capacity of 10,000 participants.
This tutorial zone will now close to new arrivals.
Time dilation Initiating. Time differential has been set to 1000:1
Initiating!
A wave of nausea washed over her as she felt time shift into high gear. Many others of weaker, constitutions lost the contents of their stomachs.
A few people pointed into the distance causing the many to turn to see.
There she saw what appeared to be the walls of some sort of fort, or a city perhaps.
She watched as many others began making their way towards the walls, and after a moment she began walking that way as well.
Day 1: Not long after she had arrived through the gates her hud began giving her directions. She was weary to follow at first but as a dozen other people began walking that same way she cautiously followed the directions. When the directions ceased she stood before what appeared to be an Inn or old fashioned bar. A large sign hung above the enterace that read, The Kitten's Whisker.
She chuckled a bit as it made her to recall her own cat. The one still waiting for her at home.
"Oh no...Did I forget to fill Mitten's food and water bowls this morning? I have to..." She paused for a moment and took a breath.

Mittens sneezes, gets up, stretches, curls back up in the same spot, and goes back to sleep.
-------------------------
"I don't have to worry so much about her while im in here. The screen said time got faster right?" To her surprise the notice in question reappeared allowing her to reread it until she was certain she was right.
"So long as I don't spend the next like 10 years in here Mittens will probably be fine." She said as she slowly made her way into the Kitten's Whisker.
After getting settled into the room that had been provided for her she began experimenting with "the system" as many she had talked to had refered to it as.
Would you like to begin your tutorial?...
The system prompted her. With a raised eyebrow and a small smile she replied, "Yes."

"Fuck. I think those are pretty low physical stats, the metaphysical stuff seems fine except charisma that seems low. Wait a minute, why do I have money? Fuck! I left my purse in the hospital." Heather threw her hands up frustrated that she had lost her purse in all this mess.
Notice! You have been granted an inventory! Space available: 1 cubic meter Item, purse, and its contents has been placed into inventory.
"Well alright then. How do I get it out?" She questioned before a response came from the system.
Say "Inventory"...
"Inventory."
The air before her shimmered and parted revealing a cubic space in which sat her gucci purse.
A new blue box appeared to replace the previous one.

Northwoods Trapper
In the wild places of our planet, dark vestiges of our paranormal past yet cling to twisted life. In the past, the hunters and trappers of the world were tasked with removing such blights from society's fringes - legal assassins, enlisted to enforce the will of civilization against those unnatural, otherworldly hosts. Nowadays, we're not so lucky. With the idea of proper monster-hunting fading from public perception, the once-prestigious mantle is donned by amateurs, hobbyists, and self-taught warriors. It pays poorly, it's dangerous, and people would rather do something that gets them rich or famous or drowning in attention. Most often, new-age monster hunters are born from tragedy. They lack the tact, training, and funding of hunters passed. Instead, they have only their wits and brawn to carry them through. So it is with our hero. In the woods of the American Midwest, foul creatures lurk. Tabitha Varna, a young college drop-out scarred by her past, is determined to uproot them or die trying. Sometimes she hopes for both.[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

THE ENCOUNTER
One day in 2022, a mysterious Alien Entity arrives in Melbourne, Australia. What is their purpose of coming here? How will our world react to their arrival? The story follows the footsteps of Jack Geralt – a Royal Australian Regiment veteran who, along with his friends, is recalled into active duty in response to this event. P.S #1: Because this is my first time I write and post my novel here, I will wait for your reviews before posting more chapters. Whether you like it or not, I still hope you enjoy reading my novel. P.S #2: I am sure you noticed that the Cover Art is not mine. I simply chose from my collection of favorite Concept Arts. If whoever designed this art sees this, I thank you very much. Since I am doing everything myself and have to alternate between my work and writing, this is the best I could do. P.S#3: If there are any inconsistencies with what you know (for example, location’s names, recent world events and properties), please remember: This Story takes place in a fictional and alternate reality.
