《Welcome to the Upward Bound System!》Renewed Vigor, Chp. 15

Dante laid upon a large cot in one of the temple's back rooms. He starred out, from his resting position on the cot, toward the chaotic scene playing out before him. Around him were many of the priests and guards he had seen earlier. Some were missing limbs or appendages, other's missing one or both eyes. Many missing some variation therein. Several figures were laid upon the cots having large white sheets draped over them. Dante looked upon the scene with shell shock. 'I guess regen doesn't heal everything.' Dante thought with dejection. Dante felt hollow. He didn't know what to do.
Many tried to hold their wounds shut so that their rengen or their own magics could save them, but for many it was a losing battle.
After he had taken so many lives the weight of his new reality had finally begun to sink in. 'Regen doesn't give back what is lost.' Dante thought but then a single thought crossed his mind. "But magic can..." An ember of hope sparked in Dante's eyes. He knew what he wanted to do. 'I want to help those I can.' Dante thought. "System store. Magic. D&D spell, Regenerate!" Dante stated and the system responded. Dante looked upon the spell information.
Regenerate, 7th level
You touch a creature and stimulate its natural healing ability. The target regains, variable, hitpoints immediately. For the duration of the spell, the target regains, variable, hit points every 6 seconds.
The target’s severed body members (fingers, legs, tails, and so on), if any, are restored after 2 minutes. If you have the severed part and hold it to the stump, the spell instantaneously causes the limb to knit to the stump.
Range: Touch, Duration: 1 Hour, Mana cost: 900, Casting time: 1 minute
Dante looked at the spell's cost, 1000 gold. Dante purchased the spell. For a moment nothing happened. He began to grow concerned but his worries soon turned out to be unfounded.
You have met the requirements to purchase this spell!
As it had several times before a small doorway opened in the back of Dante's mind. He felt as light from beyond poured in. He knew the words. The door stayed open for 1 second, for five, for ten seconds. Something changed in his mind and he knew the spell had been changed. 'Its quicker now.' Dante remarked as the door in his mind finally closed. All the information he had requested had flowed through the door and assembled itself there in his mind. The materials he needed for the spell were simple. He needed mana and the holy symbol of Rosana, which he was currently holding.
You have gained affinity for, Life...
You have taken your first steps down the Road of light...
The world is often dark, you seek not to find the light, but to become it!...
Your affinity for light has increased...
Dante stood up from his bed. The ember in his eyes caught light. Dante closed his palm and made a dozen more seeds of the blood rose.

"The range is touch, we can fix that." Dante said as he threw a handful of seeds out across the room. They did not immediately grow, and even thought people noticed his actions no one attempted to stop him. They mostly assumed he had lost his mind in the fighting. Dante focused on the seeds. He did not wish for anyone to be hurt. He wished for them to be healed.

Dante held the spell regenerate in his mind. He felt his something within himself expand to become greater than it had been before. He could feel every seed he had created from his skill.

Dante felt a new wave of sensation as he gained the Life Sense skill. He had practically acquired a new sense in addition to his...seven other's? Dante smiled weakly as he turned to the cot at his right. There on the cot however was a sheet over the figure laying there. He sensed no life from them. Dante muttered a prayer for the fallen.
Dante remembered the feeling of being healed by the vines of the blood rose. He wanted to give to others rather than take from them. Dante closed his eyes and remembered what it felt like to heal someone else with that skill. He focused upon that feeling and cast, Regenerate. Time seemed to halt for a moment as he felt a hand upon each of his shoulders. On his right shoulder rested a large hand, he knew who it belonged to. He was standing in their temple.
Upon his left shoulder he felt the small and comforting hand of Rosana. The voice of the nameless man came seemingly everywhere. "Though they are not of your faith you would still aid them? For that you have my gratitude. I am glad to see you are resilient. Your actions shall be rewarded." The nameless being spoke. His voice was unlike their previous encounter. This time it sounded like the voice of a human man but deeper in a way Dante could not describe.
He heard Rosana speak next, her voice seemingly next to his left ear. "Your hardened heart is but your attempts to keep the cruelties of the world from harming your gentle soul..." her voice trailed off for a moment as he felt her other hand upon the left cheek of his face. "Never be afraid to defend your own life Dante, or the lives of others." Rosana said. Dante felt the nameless man's large hand leave his shoulder. A second later his ladies hands retracted, he felt a kiss on the cheek and time resumed.

Dante looked upon his Status screen for a moment.

Dante was very happy for the slowly increasing bonuses from his items. The Ring of King was currently giving him +29 to his Charisma. 'Since the rings level requirement is 100 i suspect that is what the bonus will be in the end. As for the Crown, it's giving +20 to all stats. That's due to me being underleveled. It hasn't increased yet so maybe i have to get past a certain level before it goes up. Maybe it will become +21 when i get to level 33?' Dante thought to himself contemplating for a moment looking back at the few notices he had missed.

Dante felt his mind expand as meditation immediately self activated.
Dante felt his connection to the seeds he had spread blossom."Let us begin." Dante said as he poured forth his mana.
All around the room the seeds that had landed exploded in growth. They rose up not as they had before but as something new. Where each seed had landed and there after grown now stood a pillar of smooth green vines. Those seeds that had grown up from underneath cots spread out and grew around them as opposed to shoving them out of the way as they grew.
From the vines sprouted and bloomed pink roses. Dante felt his mana pool drop, he stumbled at the sudden feeling of lose, but he did not falter. Dante looked up to the left hand corner of his Hud to see his mana had dropped to less than a quarter of his total. As the roses bloomed the air began to shimmer for several feet around the pillars that stood 10 feet high. Dante received a few notices.
Congratulations! You have created a new Rare skill!

Dante watched as after the initial shock wore off the healer's began to move the most heavily injured closer to the pillars of vines. Dante watched as slowly, fingers, eye's, limbs began to regenerate. Dante inspected one of the corpse's within the area of his skills. The corpse seemed to have been run through by a sword twice, piercing both his hearts. The guards helm rested upon the floor next to him. His eyes were closed, and his ebony skin was pale. Dante watched as the holes in his chest seemed to knit themselves back together. Dante was glad to see that, though he knew that this man would not be getting back up.
'Or would he? If the system made one spell real, what others did it make real?' Dante thought as he opened the system store. "Raise dead from D&D please." Dante quickly found and read the description for the spell.
Raise Dead 5th level
You return a dead creature you touch to life, provided that it has been dead no longer than 10 days. If the creature's soul is both willing and at liberty to rejoin the body, the creature returns to life with a number of hit points for every point of your Wisdom stat. Their hit points may not exceed their normal max unless otherwise stated.
This spell also neutralizes any poisons and cures non magical diseases that affected the creature at the time it died. This spell doesn't, however, remove magical diseases, curses, or similar effects; if these aren't first removed prior to casting the spell, they take effect when the creature returns to life. The spell can't return an undead creature to life.
This spell closes all mortal wounds, but it doesn't restore missing body parts. If the creature is lacking body parts or organs integral for its survival--its head, for instance--the spell automatically fails.
Coming back from the dead is an ordeal. The target creature suffers from severe stamina and health exhaustion upon returning to life. Every time the target spends resting reduces their exhaustion.
Range: Touch, Cast time: 1 minute, Duration: Instant, Material component: A diamond of approximately 3 inches in diameter, which the spell consumes. Mana cost: 650
Dante saw something of great interest the system recommended to be purchased with the spell. It offered him a bag of diamond marbles, 100 in total for only 100 gold. All the diamond marbles were just the right size for the spell. "Diamond is cheap?!" Dante blurted out several of the priests began to make their way over toward Dante. The spell itself was actually only 500 gold, a steal. Dante without a further thought purchased the spell with the bag of 100 diamond marbles. Once more the doorway in the back of his mind swung open and light poured in. Dante's eyes glowed crimson for a moment causing the approaching priests to stop casting him weary glares. He carefully held up his holy symbol as he put most of his brain power towards understanding the information that was pouring into his mind.
A soft leather bag of diamond marbles appeared in Dante's left hand. With his right hand he opened the bag and pulled out a marble and held it. The crimson glow of his eyes dimmed and the door slowly swung shut once more. The spell assembled itself there in his mind and he began to cast. As he cast the spell the diamond marble began to glow with gold and crimson lights. The sound of footsteps could be heard though no man was moving from his place. All watched as Dante was casting the spell, told by some invisible force to allow Dante the time he needed. An illusionary figure stepped forth through the crowd of priests. Dante looked up only long enough to see it was the same nameless god, whose temple he stood in.
He stood proud and a head above everyone else. The figure walked until he stood on the opposing side of the cot where Dante was about to raise up a guard. As he arrived Dante placed the marble upon the middle of the man's chest. Dante felt his somewhat replenished mana bottom out as the spell completed. Dante felt all of his remaining mana poured out from him into the guards body. At first nothing happened Dante opened his hand to examine the diamond marble. The nameless god reached down with his upper right hand and with little effort pressed the marble to the dead man's chest.
Immediately the marble exploded into motes of gold and crimson light as that same light washed over the corpse. A moment passed as the light died away and then the man drew a breath, and another, and another. He was breathing again. Dante crouched and held his head against the man's chest hearing the beating of the man's heart. Then he heard his other heart which caused him to recoil in confusion. Dante looked upon the priest and back to the gods avatar for a moment before asking, "Your race has two hearts?" Dante asked with genuine curiosity. The four armed Enderman looking priests looked to the avatar of their god who simply offered them a warming smile before turning to face Dante. The priests looked to Dante nodding vigorously.
The enderman god extended out his upper right hand to Dante and spoke, "Please allow me to learn from you that we may make quick work of this situation." His voice that of a human and not like those of the race he so resembled. The priests had taken to kneeling as they watched on in reverence. Dante reached out his right hand and grasped the gods much larger hand by his fingers. Dante seemed to shut down for a moment, his eyes glazing over. The god of the enderman people, searched through his mind and took it all in. He caught glimpses of Dante's hardships as he scoured his mind for the information he sought.
He quickly learned that the spells Dante had cast had come from a game called D&D. He also realized several issues with these converted spells. Even with the great power they offered it came at a horrible price for one's mana pool. Each of his priests would likely only be able to use raise dead once or twice before running out of mana. The spell he had used to make these healing pillars was beyond almost any of his clergy currently at the temple save for the High priest. Who was currently in need of being raised.
The endeman god turned to his clergy, "Bring the body of the high priest here and rest it next to one of the pillars upon a cot." He said while pointing towards four of the priests who stood and bowed before hurrying off to find the High priest's body. "As for the rest of you rotate the wounded through the pillars area of effect. The effect lingers for some time even after a person is removed from the area of effect. GO!" The enderman god commanded his clergy who hurried to complete their assigned task.
He turned to face Dante, who was still unresponsive due to his information extraction. He knew Dante all too well now, and while he wanted to pity him, he wanted to thank him more. Dante blinked his eyes several times as the world came back to him. He looked up and asked a question with a smile, "Can I call you Ender?" The god smiled as he knew exactly why he had chosen that name. "I see no harm in it." Ender responded.with a smile. "My clergy shall be informed as to these spells you have helped me learn. I personally have come to enjoy several notions you have had about one of my children and these endermen we seem to be so similar to. We cannot teleport at will as they do, but with a few spell's and skill's I think we can get there. I will help bring that to fruition." Ender smiled brightly and so did Dante.
Ender gave a light chuckle as if laughing to some unheard joke. Dante blinked his face becoming one of confusion. However no sooner had he blinked then Ender's avatar was gone. Dante scrunched his face in mild annoyance and stated to the empty air where he had been.
Dante spent the next couple of minutes walking around and helping to shift the wounded around allowing everyone to enjoy the healing pillars. Dante watched as missing limbs, finger's, and eyes all were healed. He felt his mind growing clearer as his mana regenerated. Dante weighed this new spell of his in his mind as he worked. 'This spell is great for healing most wounds, the problem being it's immobile. It doesn't cost too much mana, about 100 per plant, but spamming it drains you way too fast. I maybe could do the same thing for raised dead but I think that's going to run into a few walls, namely having to supply the diamonds to each plant for it to work properly.' Dante thought for some time as he helped with the healing and raising of the temple’s guards and priests.
Helping others was meaningful work for Dante and it reflected in his new skill, Meditation.

Dante could walk around doing light work while maintaining meditation. While the bonus to regeneration from meditation was small for now, it was appreciated. Dante watched as over the course of half an hour the fallen were risen to life though many did not wake up immediately or stay awake long if they did. After about an hour the temple began handing out food and water to those who had participated in the battle. It was then that he realized he was starving. So, he ate his fill until his hunger ceased, two and a half courses later.
Dante felt times passing and it made him think of his parents and Califa. He checked the party menu and everyone was fine. He wished he could... Dante smiled. "System store, Magic, D&D, Sending!" Dante said as he hoped the spell had been improved.
Sending Lvl. 3
You open your mind to a creature with which you are familiar allowing for communication over long distances. The creature hears the message in its mind, recognizes you as the sender if it knows you, and can answer in a like manner immediately. The spell enables creatures with an Intellect stat of at least 1 to understand the meaning of your message. 1 mana per word, possibly more if it's a long word. Transmission of thoughts and other such things more substantial than words is possible but incurs increased mana costs. Spell may be maintained for as long as you have sufficient mana.
You can send the message across any distance and even to other planes of existence, but if the target is on a different plane than you, there is a, variable chance that the message doesn't arrive. You are made aware when the message fails to arrive and a mild understanding of why. You cannot target dead creatures with this spell unless other effects would allow you to do so. You are made aware if the target creature is deceased.
Minimum cost: 1 mana/per second
Dante bought the spell for 50 gold as there seemed not to be a material requirement. The doorway swung open and knowledge of the spell poured into his mind like water. After a second the doorway closed once more and the spell ordered itself there in his mind. Dante rapidly cast the spell four times establishing links between himself, his parents, Oscar, and Califa. Dante felt his mind expand outward as the multiple castings took effect.
Something unanticipated however, happened then. Dante felt the multiple spells begin to bend and twist together. He felt his mind grow clouded for a moment and then it passed. Immediately several voices began to speak Dante had not been prepared for that, having to sit down on one of the nearby cots. Dante felt he should not yell, he had a better idea. Dante poured forth a desire for quiet through the connection and within several seconds everyone was quiet. "Ok I have a spell to contact you guys now. I wanted to save time so I cast the spell a few times to give you all the same message. You guys being able to talk to each other was not intended. The first to talk Dad." Dante stated, glad to have all those voices no longer clogging his mind.
"Is this the spell you mentioned at breakfast Dante?" Frank asked, "Yep. The system made the spell's from D&D real but obviously there have been some changes. Oscar, Califa, everything has calmed down here at the temple. I assume you guys saw the notice." Dante said, his voice dropping a bit as he spoke the last part. Immediately everyone else stated, "Yes I saw." and other variations therein. This surprised Dante, "Did the quest go out to the whole town?" He asked, a bit curious. They all stated in the affirmative.
"Ok well I just wanted to let you guys know I'm fine and that damage is being reversed." Dante stated only for Oscar to respond, "How many of them have fallen Dante?" Dante took a deep breath and spoke, "Several people died but they most have been revived by this point. Even the High priest died but he's back up now." There was silence for several seconds. Oscar spoke again, "I do not understand none at the temple but the High priest could raised the dead! How was he raised?" Oscar asked his normally choir-like voice once more, becoming jumbled and a bit harder to understand.
"I bought a spell from the store to raise the dead. Your god showed up and helped me bring back one guard. Then he got those priests who were left to buy the spell as well and start bringing people back." Oscar said nothing. Califa spoke next, "You can bring the dead back?" She asked, "Yes but only if they have been dead for 10 days or less."
Back in the Crystal foot Inn Dante's mother and father were miming to each other furiously that they knew about the spell. Their expressions were joyous and they quickly opened their system store's to buy the spell themselves, though Frank had to give 600 gold to Laura for the spell and components. Dante and the rest of them went on for several more minutes before they began to close the connection. Dante walked out of the temple and back towards Brothel Alley. He had told his parents he would be back later in the night. Dante made his way to the Golem's Menagerie. "Hey Oscar Im ready to use that card you gave me!"
The OG Oscar walked through the door with a smile upon his face, "Welcome friend. I am glad to see you are well." He stated happily. Dante managing a weak smile, "How is Califa?" Oscar pointed his index finger upward and stated, "She was tired so I put her up in one of the soundproofed bedrooms for the night." Dante nodded as he asked another question. "May I see the golem's?" Oscar smiled and escorted him through the door at the back right of the room. This time it opened into another room where several golems lounged around on plush couches in skimpy lingerie.
There was an equitaur, a goblin, three elves, two human's, and surprisingly one female of Oscar's race. No sooner had they walked in then one of the elves and the two humans got up and began making their way over to greet them. Dante made his choice near immediately but still asked Oscar a question he hadn't bothered to ask before, "Hey Oscar what is the name of your race?" Oscar's eyes went wide for a moment as he slapped his forehead. The elven and human women stopped their advance placing their hands on their hips waiting for them to finish the conversation.
"I am so sorry my friend it is not something I usually have to explain so I didn't even consider it. My apologies. My race's name in your tongue would be the Ysdaltan. Our home world is named... well we can discuss that at a later time. Now please make your choice and do let me know if they are now what you are looking for. There are more elsewhere you could view should you desire to do so." Oscar stated with a smile. The ladies standing before him swung into action beginning to caress each other moaning softly trying to entice Dante to choose them.
Dante saw as they did so that they were not golems. Each of them instead had magitech limbs or appendages. The elven woman had a sleek black arm heavily contrasting from her otherwise pale skin. The human women who appeared to be twins each had a magical eyeball on opposite sides to one another. They each had one of their legs replaced with near perfect magical prosthesis. Once more the replacements were on opposite sides for each sister.
Dante looked behind them to see the others. The goblin women had prosthetic leg of high quality. The Equitaur had her left arm and shoulder replaced by a smooth and sleek almost futuristic looking prosthetic. Then there was the Ysdaltan women. She appeared to have had all four of her arms and both of her legs replaced with white artificial limbs. The pristine white of the prosthetics provided a great contrast from her ebony skin color.
He turned to Oscar, "You made their replacement limbs I'm guessing." Oscar nodded with a small smirk of pride, "That I did. I picked each of them up and gave them their jobs here." Dante nodded as he strode forth having only reaffirmed the decision he had previously made.
Dante walked up to and then past the three women who had presented themselves to him and towards the Ysdaltan women who laid upon a plush couch. She wore a set of small spectacles. She held a bood which she was reading in two hands and propping up her head with another. Dante stood before her drawing her attention towards him as he extended a hand towards her. "Would you have me?" Dante asked with a smile.
The Ysdaltan women smiled, for few chose her. She pulled off her glasses and closed her book placing both items on a small table next to the couch. She rose up from her resting position taking his hand in one of her's. With two of her other arms she slowly began to knead her plump breasts getting herself going for the fun to come. She pulled him along towards a set of stair's that lead up to the next floor. On their way up Dante asked her, "Before the fun I would like to know your story if you wouldn't mind." The woman stopped for a moment turning back and looking down the stairs at him. She looked upon him with a discerning gaze. Dante simply smiled and stated, "If you want to that is." Slowly the woman smiled once they made their way to an empty bedroom.

Myth of The World's Trees
And Simon answered their call with a single statement that nobody understood "Et super mos absit hoc hodie!" "Yah!" "WWWaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!" "AAAlllllaaaaallllaaaaallllaaaa!" "EeEEellllleeeeeelllllleeeeeeuuuuuuu!" I, too, yelled a battle cry at the top of my lungs. I had no idea what Simon had just spouted but from Camilla's giggling, I could guess that Simon thought that spouting nonsense was his way of getting out of the earlier predicament. "I forbid death upon this day," Camilla said. "What?" I answered a bit at a loss. "Ancient Latin," she replied smugly, "He said 'I forbid death upon this day'." I laughed aloud "Then he is gonna be really disappointed in everyone here," Camilla did not reply and instead took a deep breath. I did the same, zoning out everything in my surroundings. The environment became a world of electrical pulses traveling across several networks. I perceived the world through my lightning and sped my heartbeat to inhuman levels. I was present now, at this moment, at this point in time. I could feel the electrifying air saturating my lungs, the electrified ground vibrating at the rhythm of the approaching enemy. Then I took a step forward, everyone followed in tandem. Camilla the first, and then the others. Then I took a second step, and this time everyone followed simultaneously. Third step… Fourth step… Fifth step… Then light jogging… Speeding up… Running … Running faster…. Then suddenly, everyone disappeared into motes of light particles that re-constructed itself hundreds of feet above the horde, dozens of miles away from our initial position. We were literally 'diving' into battle.-------------------------------------------------------------------Despite a rough childhood in the slums, Omari had everything a guy could want - a loving girlfriend, an understanding sister, a wonderful teacher, and his dream job. 8 145Letters from a Dying World
Times historic are often penned after the fact in the lifeblood of the pitiful, forgotten masses. That roiling, uncountable crush of humanity, they who held the pikes and they who threw down the tyrants. Their veins opened by gazes academic, sharp and cruel, and pecked away at with quills, written out of their own story. The Second Dark Crusade was a time of such poignancy. A time when the light of man waned and flickered, choking in the acrid smoke of its own inadequacy. As befitting of such an age it has been covered more than a capital whore, and so I attempt not to tell that story again. That story of dull, unfeeling analysis. Neither here will you find the browbeating, propagandistic screeds so common in the hands of men, the light of youth still burning behind their eyes. Nay, here I shall attempt to cover fresh ground, not tread on the grave dirt of long dead authors. Here I shall attempt to tell the story of the small lives caught, unbeknownst to them, in the great and torrential downpour that we now call history. Here lies the true story of The Second Crusade. - Loremaster Ip'Qal
