《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 171: Strongest Dragonknight (2)

As the utter silence pierced the air, Peizhi Xiuying, Akata, and Swordlife turned their heads towards a certain direction. They stopped their attacks and looked at the person that stood there. It was a person garbed in a grey robe. It was precisely Mindlife.
“Fang Zuwa?” The three of them called out this name at the same time. As they did, confusion filled their voices and faces. Wasn’t this a place only Dragonknights were permitted to enter? How did he come in?
“You’re a Dragonknight as well?” Akata was the first to ask the question. Since he was able to come in here then that was the only way it was possible.
“Mn.” Mindlife nodded. “I’ve also given my future prospects to Sect Leader Fu so please call me Mindlife. My apologies for intruding, I just couldn’t hold myself back after seeing you three fighting so passionately.” Mindlife rubbed the top of his head in an embarrassed manner.
The three of them were utterly shocked at this moment. Not because Fang Zuwa… er Mindlife became a Dragonknight along with them, but because of how talkative he was at this moment. He was usually cold and detached, didn’t associate with many people, and kept to himself most of the time. Yet now, he was actually quite outgoing.
After a bit of shock and silence Akata let out a chuckle. “Heh. Come, the more the merrier. Let us compare skills with each other.” Akata jumped back and then waved his hand around. All of a sudden, a snake-like red-black flame appeared around his figure. The flames danced around him, with his Searing Heat of the Underworld technique advancing to the second level, Melting Earth, his control of hellfire increased greatly.
The others didn’t dally either. They all separated once again and began to trade moves. The fighting began with simple pointers. Akata showed first started off with his Searing Heat of the Underworld and his Demonic Wraith techniques. Through constant comprehension and battle experience, Akata’s skills in both increased dramatically. The others also used their own methods to fight as well. The common ground was that none of those methods were their true strength and main techniques.
Fire danced around the desert, fists were thrown about, divine energy oppressed everything everywhere, and needle-like attacks could be seen flying in the air. The whole place looked like a crazed battlefield. The sand dunes were constantly being reshaped and the chaotic air only continued to worsen. Yet, all of this was caused by young people.
Fwoosh! A raging ball of red-black fire was hung in the air by Akata. “Hahaha. How about we get a bit more serious?” Suddenly, the ball of fire shrunk down to fit in the palm of Akata. The red-black fire then started to transform. It was originally a black flame with red sparks, but under Akata’s sudden manipulation, the fire transformed from black to crimson. Furthermore, its power didn’t decrease in the slightest, it actually multiplied!

‘He’s harnessing the Outer Element of Souls into the hellfire he commands. So he’s getting a bit serious now?’ Swordlife began to smile. This was the moment he was waiting for. He was anticipating for them to bring out more firepower, only then could he also go all out. It would be quite inappropriate for him to be the first to use his true strength as he was the oldest amongst the four of them.
‘Heh. An Outer Element, I shall see the the strength that they possess. Akata can use the Outer Element of Souls, master has even told me his control over it is the best within the sect. Peizhi Xiuying can innately use the Outer Element of Yin, her attacks will contain traces of the yin element without her even trying to merge them. Fang Zuwa… oops, I mean Mindlife I’m not too sure about. Master had him on her death list before so she didn’t tell me much about him. Based on what I know so far I should be at a disadvantage in terms of elemental energy, but that doesn’t mean I can’t hold my own.’ Swordlife thought of his situation before holding out his hand and forming a spirit sword.
When he grasped the sword within his hand, a boundless amount of blood energy flowed into it. It wasn’t blood energy from Swordlife’s body, but blood energy from the surroundings. That was because Swordlife had control over the Inner Element of Blood.
Peizhi Xiuying and Mindlife weren’t slow either. Almost as soon as Akata had started infusing soul energy into his hellfire, they too brought out more power. Peizhi Xiuying waved her hand as her Grand Life Vine rose up from beneath the ground. With another wave, the beautiful vine became pitch black. It gave off a cold feeling but still had a natural beauty to it. Mindlife waved his hand as a two needles that were half a meter long each appeared within his palms. The two needles gave off a corrosive aura. From a glance, one could tell that they were filled with the Inner Element of Corrosion.
Just based on the elemental properties one brought out, Akata and Peizhi Xiuying undoubtedly held the advantage. They both could control the power of an Outer Element.
Controlling an element was a simple task. One just had to be knowledgeable of that element and comprehend it to understand its properties. Once one did that, they would be able to interact with the element. Based on one’s talents for the element and comprehension level, the amount of elemental energy one could interact with and the way they interacted with the element varied. For instance, although Peizhi Xiuying and Akata both controlled an Outer Element, Akata had much more skill with the soul element than Peizhi Xiuying had with the yin element. This could be seen how Akata had even comprehended Soul Foresight.

All the elements had a type of Foresight, even the yin element. Peizhi Xiuying still had yet to comprehend Yin Foresight, this showed that her comprehension abilities for the yin element were inferior to Akata’s comprehension of the soul element. Yet, her talents for it surpassed Akata’s. This could be seen how her attacks innately had traces of the yin element. Why was her talent greater than Akata’s but her comprehension wasn’t? That was because Akata had his mysterious soul rune helping him out. This soul rune helped him awaken and comprehend more things regarding the soul element. It wasn’t that Peizhi Xiuying was slow comprehending, it was just that Akata had a cheat implanted into his body!
But all of this wasn’t thought about at this moment, instead, the four were focused on sparring and comparing techniques to improve themselves.
Whoosh! Akata threw out the hellfire ball filled with soul energy. As it was launched, more and more soul energy gathered to it and was absorbed. This was achieved through Akata’s subtle ability to control souls.
With Akata launching his attack, how could the others stand by? Peizhi Xiuying’s yin filled vine launched successive whip-like attacks that sent out yin beams. They were filled with utter coldness that froze the surroundings. Swordlife waved his sword sending blood waves that tore through the air. Mindlife threw needle after needle that were filled with terrifying amounts of corrosive energy.
The attacks of the four caused a huge explosion that sent shockwaves through the surroundings. But even then, the attacks of the four were just starting. The attacks were getting more and more powerful and with the different skills, the four managed to gain some insights from each other.
Akata’s eyes were shining right now as he held his scythe and waved it around. ‘This… it’s so chaotic. There are attacks everywhere, the energy being released is extraordinary. Even though it seems unorderly, it is actually capable of destroying the environment. This is what true chaos is about. It isn’t just a single target skill like souls but it involves everything around the user.’ In this situation, Akata wasn’t gaining insights into the blood element, corrosive element or even the yin and soul element . Instead, he was comprehending the equally domineering and heavenly powerful khaos element!
He already had some insights regarding the khaos element and could even somewhat control it. But his comprehension for it wasn’t even on the same level of his illusion element, let alone his soul element. But now, he was rapidly gaining insights in this chaotic spar.
If it had to be said that his comprehension was the best when it came to the soul element, then his talent would lay in the khaos element! Akata raised his scythe, but this time a crimson glow didn’t appear on it like it usually would when he harnessed the soul element. This time, a violet glow was gradually surfacing. This glow gave off a feeling of being omnipresent, as if nothing could escape its path.
With a swing, the scythe swiped down and along with it came a violet light. The light flashed toward the other three in a shocking and dominating fashion.
“This…” The three didn’t expect this sudden attack. With a single thought, boundless power gathered upon their bodies. This power didn’t come from them but from the surroundings. It was as if the heavens were granting them power to fight with all of their might.
Bang! The chaotic violet light collided with their bodies and sand flew up in the air.
‘Crap!’ Akata was immediately shocked! He didn’t mean to use that much power, he was just feeling the energy and released it. He never imagined the power that it held was so great. Just as he was worrying though three blindingly fast attacks shot out from the sand that filled the air.
Akata was startled. He instantly waved his scythe as he used Khaotic Diffusion Lock, his intangible form from Demonic Wraith, and his Dark Intent Ring to defend himself. Boom! The three frightening attacks were still too powerful. In the end, Akata even had to uses his control over souls to slightly divert them away from him. After all of that, Akata was left panting for breath. Even after all of that, he had taken some slight damage. It didn’t leave any serious injuries but he did have some light wounds. Those attacks together were just too fearful.
‘Just what kind of power was that?’ Akata was astonished. He could tell that they came from Peizhi Xiuying, Swordlife, and Mindlife but he didn’t expect them to have that level of power.
The sand started to settle down and soon the three figures could be visible within. However, their appearances had greatly changed along with their aura. Looking at them, they didn’t appear human any longer. What appeared before him were three different figures.

The Depths of Magic
Synopsis It's the year 2052 and the release of the new next-generation full-dive VRMMO game called The Depths of Magic is hitting the world by storm. The game's technology will surpass all other games before it and shock the masses. Hector who goes by the name Locke inside the game is an experienced player of the genre. He is looking to continue his goal of enjoying gaming as well as the competition that goes along with competing for the top ranking spots. Novel Summary The Depths of Magic is a LitRPG novel focused on a Fantasy VRMMO setting. This is not a harem novel. In-Game systems The Depths of Magic features state-of-the-art technology never before seen in Hector's world. The key system the novel will bring up often is the Second Brain. The Second Brain system is more like a guidance AI for the players in the game that acts as if you had a second brain assisting your every action. How much guidance this AI will give is based on its experience or mastery skills a player will receive in the game. The guidance is seamless to a point where a player won't even realize they are being assisted, it's will feel like what they are doing is something they could always do. However, once they leave the game it will become quite apparent that they were receiving heavy guidance. The purpose of this system in a writing sense is to explain why a player can realistically become more powerful, more agile, or more skilled than they would otherwise be able to as a human. To give an example if someone could move faster than a bullet, how would a normal human brain be able to perceive and control this movement properly. Or how could a player who has never held a sword before become as experienced as someone who has trained with the sword all their lives? The magic system will be another focus of this novel. I don't want to spoil anything here but it should be an interesting one. The hope is that the system I have made will spark discussion between the readers on what combinations will do what. I already have most of it, but it will be fun to read as the author. Side notes My general focus for this novel is to attempt to make the in-game systems make sense. To give a vague example I have read a lot of novels of this genre and some have the habit of just creating such powerful items that it just breaks the system, and somehow the MC keeps finding challenging situations even with those items. What tends to happen when I read a novel like this I just ignore the stats of the items he is getting because the numbers don't even matter anymore. Release schedule: The chapter release schedule due to real-life complications is to release as I write them. Patreon setup: 1 chapter early release/discord access. Free content up to the current chapter includes an excel sheet that contains Locke's current stats at the end of the chapter. This is extra information for those that are interested.
