《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 108: Nature's Blessing

“IT’S WORKING!” Akata nearly cried out as he absorbed the bits of energy in the powerful wind. ‘This crimson rune is really strange. Not only can it absorb blood and life force to strengthen myself, it can even absorb this energy. This energy feels odd but I’m sure I have come into contact with it before.’
The weird energy was swept toward Akata’s crimson rune where it was refined and then dispersed throughout his body. Some of the energy went to his skin and bones to strengthen his body, some went to his dantion region to strengthen his cultivation bases, some went to his strengthen his soul, and some went to head to strengthen his mental energy.
This was usually how the refined energy of the crimson rune dispersed energy except this time it was much stronger than blood and less stronger than the life force. If the energy within the wind was more dense it would be much more beneficial to Akata, alas it was dispersed all throughout the wind causing much of the energy to be faded.
Akata slowly absorbed the energy and watched it flow throughout the different parts of his body. As he did he raised an eyebrow after noticing something strange. ‘There’s more energy going to my dantion region than the rest of my body.’ He wouldn’t have found this strange at first because he had two different cultivation bases so he thought they would need more energy. But then he noticed that half of the energy going in the dantion wasn’t going to his cultivation bases.
“Eh? What’s this?” Akata slightly spoke out as he watched the flow of energy in his dantion region. He could see half of the energy forming a sort of vortex on the island where his cultivation bases resided. It was hard to make out what was forming within the vortex but as more energy was drawn in, he could see a small illusory white pellet. Just when Akata was about to physically direct some of the energy toward the vortex, the wind suddenly stopped.
Frowning, Akata sent out his nature sense. ‘It really did stop.’ Akata couldn’t help but sigh to himself upon this realization. This was a good fortune for him and he was curious about what that pellet was. ‘I have to find a way to fully form that pellet. I feel as if it could help me in the future.’

Sighing again Akata walked out of the small cave he was in. It was beginning to brighten up as the sun rose from the horizon. Akata could feel its warmth spread all over his body bringing him a sense of relaxation. After a few breaths of time, Akata let out a relieving “Ahh.” and then went to go find a place to meditate.
He spread his nature sense out and then his brows furrowed. Through his nature sense he found that a lot of the vegetation had been uprooted and destroyed. Seeing this, Akata couldn’t help but become sad. He had a much closer relationship with plants and nature now that he had a plant cultivation base. He could feel the will and emotions of the surrounding plants through his nature sense when it washed over them.
Through these emotions, he felt pity and sympathy for the surrounding plants. He spread his nature sense out further to encompass the whole island. It was only a small sized island about 100 meters so it was rather easy to do. Then he waved his hand as multiple aqua colored runes appeared to cover over the whole island. This rune was composed of the Inner Element of Healing.
Taking a deep breath he caused the runes to shine out with a bright aqua light. The whole island looked to be aqua in color. ‘This healing rune isn’t going to be enough, I need something to fundamentally repair these plants.’ Akata thought to himself.
“If you want to save these plants then there is only one way to do it.” Noluck suddenly spoke out in a disinterested voice. “This happens to all true plant cultivators. When you have a low plant cultivation base, there is something that makes you want to save every single plant. Only when you have a higher cultivation will this urge to save them subside.
It is like this because we are few in number so we have to do everything we can to make sure we can have a chance to grow and improve. Once we are strong enough, we basically have the ability to save forests with a wave of our hands, to say nothing of this small place.”
He collected his thoughts and then spoke out once more. “But at a low level, you aren’t able to do that so we have to use a different way to save plants. Here. Take this and use it.” A bright green light shot out from Noluck and into Akata’s forehead. A flood of information entered his mind, they were all ways to save plants given your cultivation level.

Akata let out a gasp and then focused on the information pertaining to his cultivation level. Looking at the instructions, Akata frowned slightly and had a look of disappointment. “Is this really the only way?” He asked.
Noluck just calmly said, “You don’t really have the power to do anything else. That is the only way for you to save them right now.”
Akata let out a sigh and nodded his head. Raising his hand into the air, Akata rotated his plant cultivation base and used it to cut up the uprooted plants. He separated the roots from the plants. He waved it again and caused the destroyed plants to break down into fertilizer. The seeds from those destroyed plants raised in the air and then shot back down into the ground.
This was the way shown to save the plants. It was basically just to start all over. Have the roots grow new stems and then plants, take whatever seeds there are and plant them into the ground, and take the destroyed plants and turn them into fertilizer for the new roots and seeds.
Akata sighed and then made multiple huge blue runes appear. He caused a shower of water to rain down onto the seeds and roots to help them grow. With that a sort of smile went across his face. This was all he could do at the moment but he felt as if he had helped out. Suddenly the urge to get stronger washed over him. He wanted to get stronger so that he could properly save the plants in the future.
Along with that feeling another thing happened to Akata. A golden mist came out of nowhere and enveloped his whole body. Akata was surprised at first but then accepted it. It wasn’t harming him at all, just nurturing him.
When the golden mist subsided and disappeared Akata could be seen and this time he had a change to his body. There was a blade of grass where his previous arm had been. It was a thick green blade of grass with a golden streak across it.
As soon as the mist disappeared Akata had took notice to this and was surprised. “Ahh!” He yelled out and tried to pull it off. But he soon found that as he did so he could feel his hand pulling on the blade of grass. “Wha… What is this?” Almost as soon as the words came out of his mouth he realized something else. "I... I... I can see again?!" He said, his voice full of astonishment.
“That was a blessing from nature. You see, nature favors us plants. It especially loves plant cultivators. It specifically gave birth to us plants so it would try its best to help us out. When we help other plants nature would give us blessings from time to time. That is why it is encouraged to help out your fellow plants that have yet to transcend into the Plant Realm.
The more often you help plants the more likely the blessing from nature will come, with each new blessing being greater than the last. This is your first time helping plants so it came to you, next time it probably won’t but who knows. It’s random.”
Akata nodded his head and was about to sit down when he suddenly saw a figure in front of him. It was a figure dressed in brown furs and looked to be in his mid twenties. He held up his arm and then took a drink of alcohol from his flagon.
“Fourth Elder.” Akata bowed down and greeted the person in front of him. It had been Fourth Elder who had accompanied him to this place, now it would be Fourth Elder who took him out. Akata was relieved with joy.
Fourth Elder looked deeply at Akata for a long moment as if confirming the things he saw. Then after some time he started saying something. “Don’t be too happy. Once you get back to the sect, we have to prepare for war.”
Akata’s joy stopped and he looked as if his life were drained from him. “Pre… prepare for… war?” With that he and Fourth Elder vanished from the island.

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?
