《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 90: Alabasta The Star Wolf

Although Akata didn’t put his full power into those two attacks, to be able to casually destroy them was a feat onto itself. Akata watched everything closely and took note of every small thing that had just occurred.
‘What was that neon light just now? It seemed very impressive and with his casualness and the short amount of time he evoked it, it was still able to thoroughly destroy my hellfire. His palms are also tough as well seeing as it shattered my scythe-light so easily.’ Akata then adjusted his battle style accordingly.
‘I don’t have a good read on just how fast he is but I can’t just keep standing here.’ Battle intent surged from Akata as he took a step forward. The scythe in his hand vanished and he waved his hand forward causing numerous blue runes to appear around him and Alabasta. The runes transformed into water that came together to form a huge wave that crashed toward Alabasta.
Alabasta had his arms crossed as he gave a snort. Neon light emanated from his body and a weird pressure enveloped around his body. The water that came barreling toward him couldn’t even touch him. It was like he was surrounded by an invisible barrier that prevented anything from getting within a certain distance of him. The water simply moved around him.
Akata frowned at this and decided to go into close combat. He dashed forth and soon was in front of Alabasta. Akata sent out a kick but Alabasta simply lifted his knee to block. Akata then tried to punch several times but all Alabasta had to do was move his head from one side to the other. It wasn’t that Akata wasn’t skilled in fighting, it was just that Alabasta was too good at dodging.
Akata spun around sending a back kick towards Alabasta which he ended up catching with one hand. But Akata wasn’t done yet as his scythe immediately appeared in his hand and he twisted his body to slice at Alabasta. Alabasta seeing the incoming scythe simply snorted as neon light burst off of him sending Akata tumbling back.

‘What is up with this guy? He’s only at the 10th Grade right? How can he be so strong? None of my attacks are able to hit him and he’s even going easy. He hasn’t even truly attacked me yet.’ Akata frowned even harder.
“Tsk. Is that all you’ve got? I guess I really did think to highly of you. For one, you’re too slow and for second your power is greatly lacking.” Alabasta said with clear disdain in his voice.
Akata’s eyes twitched. Was Alabasta mocking him? Too slow? Lacking in power? Since when? “Hehe. We’ll see then.” Giving a deranged laugh Akata stood up from the ground and caused his scythe to vanish. His eyes glowed with a red and gold tint.
A bright golden light emanated off of him the next instant. Soon, a crimson light mixed in with the golden light. “I may be lacking in speed at the moment but one thing I’m not lacking in… is power.” Akata waved his hand causing tens of giant blue runes to appear all over the stage. Normally, Akata would only use maybe one or two giant runes at a time but this time he was using tens of them. Clearly, he was showing just how much power he could produce.
The giant runes then transformed into huge waves of water and came surging forth toward Alabasta. The sheer amount of water caused his eyebrows to knit together. “Humph. Trying to just use a bigger number? That won’t work.”
But before he could do anything, Akata was already well into his next move. He waved his hand again causing tens of giant orange runes to appear above the stage. They all transformed into a huge inferno that came crashing downwards. A sea of water around him and a sea of fire above.
Alabasta’s eyes slightly constricted as he waved his hand causing neon light to spring up all around him. He roared and the stage began to tremble and shake. He held his hand up and a small ball of neon light could be seen within. The ball quickly began to grow in size until it was about three meters across. It was bright and looked like a miniature sun. “Combust!” Alabasta roared.

The mini sun then instantly grew to the size of a fingernail and exploded with shocking ferocity. The resulting explosion caused the water and fire to be pushed away and be demolished into nothingness. A huge crater also formed under Alabasta’s feet and the stage was in terrible shape.
Akata’s eyes went wide with disbelief. He had poured mostly all of his strength into that attack yet Alabasta was still able to defend against it; and without changing out of his mortal form. He was panting and his face was slightly pale but Akata laughed and said, “Hahaha, I made you move after all.” He pointed at the spot Alabasta had been at.
Alabasta looked over and saw that he had indeed moved from his spot. He looked up at Akata and said, “Seems you were able to figure out what the condition was. I guess I’ll be a bit more serious now.” He said in a savage voice.
His eyes glowed and in the blink of an eye he was in front of Akata. He punched out and aimed for Akata’s chest.
This all happened too fast for Akata. One second he was laughing at Alabasta and the next he was being attacked. The utter speed in which this happened caused Akata’s mind to reel in complete shock. He didn’t even have enough time to put his arms in front of his chest to block the incoming blow heading his way.
Bang!
Akata was sent flying across the broken stage. Blood sprayed out of his mouth as he was sent flying backwards. However, Alabasta didn’t stop there as he chased after Akata’s flying body. He waved his hand causing neon light to appear and shoot out. The light moved faster than Akata and was soon behind him. It exploded behind him and caused his body to fly in the other direction toward Alabasta.
Alabasta, already ready for Akata’s approach, stood there with a savage look in his eyes. He raised his palm in the air to face the incoming Akata. A smile curled atop his face as he felt his heart racing, “Star-”
Alabasta’s face completely changed as he immediately switched tactics. His original plan was to completely assault Akata until he wasn’t able to move anymore. But who would have that Akata would actually be in a condition to attack him?
Akata felt like a ragdoll being thrown around. But, how could he take a beating just like that? Golden light flashed off of him as well as red light. He roared out and the ground began to shake vigorously. Some crumbling rocks began to congregate around Akata’s hand which had turned into a fist. Akata twisted his body in midair and threw his punch toward Alabasta, sending a rock filled with power toward him.
Astral Obliteration!
The rock grew larger and larger and the pressure emanating from it increased as well. The pressure became suffocating almost and it weighed down on the souls of everyone present, the crowd included. Alabasta’s eyes constricted heavily as he raised his hand all the way into the air. Rocks began to gather above his hand and cluster together. A neon light began to shine from the gathered rocks which melded them together. Alabasta then threw his arm out toward the incoming attack of Akata.
Meteor Star Shot!
This was a technique passed down in the Meteor Wolf Star Tribe. With a wave of their hand they could send a meteor raining down on their opponent. It was controlled by the star element that they naturally had control over since birth. But since Alabasta didn’t have that high of a cultivation base yet, it couldn’t be fully unleashed.
Two rocks headed toward each other in shocking fashion and display. One was covered in golden and red light while the other was covered in neon light. However, it was clear that one was much stronger than the other one.
Boom!

Steamforged Sorcery [A Steampunk LitRPG]
This is a fantasy story in a steampunk setting, not a sci-fi. The Great War ravaged the face of the earth many years ago. In the years that passed, the world rebuilt, mixing machinery and magic to form something new. Great blimps took to the sky, belching steam and smoke as metal cities sprouted like weeds below. Angel, a talented mage, scours the desert endlessly in search of lost knowledge. When it unexpectedly falls into his hands, he quickly comes to realize that the world is far larger – and far more deadly – than he ever could have predicted. But no amount of danger is going to keep Angel from seeking out greater strength and traveling the world, claiming all the greatest treasure that it has to offer. To most, the desert is a dangerous threat to be feared. To Angel, it’s a land of opportunity, waiting to be exploited. Steamforged Sorcery is, as the title suggests, a LitRPG Steampunk story with heavy focus on magic and scenery. The main character starts out relatively strong (but far from overpowered) but will eventually grow in strength to incredible levels. It is moderately paced and does not progress at ridiculous speeds. Release Schedule: 1,500 words daily Monday-Friday
