《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 55: Let’s Race

Akata rushed his recovery. Although he had spent a bit of time trying to use the core image and infuse it with his element, it didn’t take much out of him. He could afford to rush his recovery. He was fully recovered in about an hour.
Akata opened his eyes and stood up. “I’m ready to go now.” He said calmly, yet he couldn’t hide the eagerness in his voice.
Tabet looked at Akata and then said, “Aren’t your clothes a bit tattered? Your body is barely being covered up?”
“It’s no matter. They’re just clothes after all, I can get some more or even go without for now. The most important thing for me to worry about right now is preparing to heal your father. Clothes are the least most important thing to me as of this moment.” Akata simply replied.
“No no no. You don’t understand. My mother doesn’t like the idea of being naked. She finds it utterly disgusting. You either have to be covered in fur or completely clothed. You have to have something covering you before we head to my father.” Tabet urgently spoke.
“Uhh… ok then. Well where am I supposed to get some clothes then? I don’t have any extra clothes on me right now so I won’t be able to be covered.” Akata was confused but tried to comply nonetheless.
Tabet thought for a moment before raising his head up with an idea in mind. “Ah! You can use some of my furs if you would like.”
Akata’s eyes went wide. Usually when someone wore furs, it came from a beast that was slain. But then he calmed his mind as he saw Tabet’s fur increase in size dramatically. He instantly became a ball of red hair as his fur grew to a shocking degree.
The fur then shed to the ground in a large heap. Tabet was barely covered in fur, to the point that his pink skin could be seen underneath. But then his fur grew again until he looked like his regular self once more.
“Ah. There we go. You can use this fur. I never thought that this technique my mother taught me would come in handy one day. She originally wanted me to use it, in case my fur fell from my body, but who would’ve thought I would use it to give fur to a human. Haha!” Tabet laughed as looked at all the fur on the ground.
“I don’t know how you can make clothes out of this though so it will be up to you to do it.” Tabet looked at Akata and said.
“Mn.” Akata nodded his head. He walked over to the pile of red fur and looked closely at it. The fur was extremely thick and there was a lot of it. “This is perfect.” Akata mumbled to himself.

Akata took off his tattered robe. He then reached in his bag and pulled out a needle and some thread. After that he picked up some fur and then… began to sew. He sewed the fur onto the tattered robe that he had. His strokes were smooth and fluid as he sewed the thick red fur onto the robe. He was immersed in his movements as he focused completely on the needle and thread.
“What are you doing? You’re attaching my fur onto that robe? Even though that robe looks completely destroyed you’re making it look completely different now.” Tabet was amazed at what Akata was doing right now.
“I’m tailoring right now. I taught myself how to do it in order to pass the time since I wasn’t able to fight others. Eventually I got skilled in it. In fact, I found out that I really like making things and repairing stuff. I looked into blacksmithing but I’m not that skilled in it. And the art of enchanting really interests me. I hope that I can learn that one day too.”
Akata’s swift and agile hand movements continued even while he was talking. His skill in tailoring really was superb. It was at the skill level of an expert tailor who had been tailoring for many many years. In a bit of time he had completely remade his robe.
It was now a two piece fur robe. The top half was made into a cape. The cape was able to cover everything except one arm that remained visible. Of course this is what Akata wanted though. The bottom half was made into some short pants. His outfit was completely red in color and made him look like a demon beast.
It only took Akata about two hours to make some new clothes for himself. He put the needle and thread back into his bag and stood up once more. He put on the cape and pants and looked at Tabet. “Ok. Now I’m ready to go.” He said with a smile.
Tabet was still dazed and amazed by Akata’s skill in tailoring. It was something that he found utterly awesome. “Could you teach me how to do that?!” He yelled.
Akata was taken aback some but then soon recovered. “Uh… sure why not. It’s not that hard.” He said with some surprise. He was surprised by the fact that a beast wanted to learn how to tailor. Most humans didn’t even want to learn.
“Great! Well let’s get to my father now. It’s already dark but I can still see well and I know my way around here. No other beast is on the island so you’re safe but I’d rather not be slow. So keep up.” Tabet was extremely happy and he rushed away soon disappearing into the distance.

“Ah!” Akata rotated his cultivation base and ran after Tabet. He spread his nature sense out and quickly located Tabet. Even though Tabet was fast, he was still well in the range of Akata’s nature sense.
Akata ran just about full speed ahead but still couldn’t catch up to Tabet. He grumbled inwardly, ‘So he thinks he’s faster than me eh? Well we’ll see about that.’ He activated his Shadowfeet skill and his speed abruptly increased in a staggering degree. That wasn’t it, as he rotated his mortal cultivation base. Again his speed jumped up explosively.
In a few breaths of time Akata closed the gap between himself and Tabet and was right behind him. The explosive increase in speed of Akata made Tabet shocked for a moment. He had gone fast enough to get where he was going soon, but slow enough that Akata could keep track of him. He had never expected Akata to have such speed.
‘His speed should be comparable to the 7th Grade. But even still it isn’t nearly as fast as I am. I don’t even have to use my cultivation base to utterly surpass him in speed.’ Tabet chuckled a bit and let Akata catch up to him.
Akata caught up to Tabet in the blink of an eye. He slowed down and ran alongside Tabet eyeing him. “Your speed isn’t that great. Especially for the level of your cultivation base.” He yelled out to Tabet.
Tabet chuckled again, this time Akata heard it and frowned. “What’s so funny eh? Do you think you are faster than me? How about we race then?”
“You want to race? It would be unfair to go full speed considering my cultivation base, but the idea sounds amusing to me so I’ll accept. I won’t go at my full speed though hehe. How does that sound?” Tabet laughed out.
“Humph. I’ll beat you in the end. Let’s go!” Akata turned into a shadow as he sped off into the distance. Quickly creating a gap between the two.
Tabet simply smiled and sped up as well. The gap between Akata and himself was about thirty meters but he easily surpassed Akata in the blink of an eye. He was in the Great Circle of the Docile Rank so his normal speed was leagues faster than Akata. He quickly passed by Akata and left him behind.
Akata’s right eye twitched and he started to rotate his plant cultivation base alongside his mortal cultivation base. This allowed Akata to stack the speed of both cultivation bases on top of each other. His speed jumped ahead by bounds. He started to close in on Tabet.
When Tabet saw this he was surprised and his face turned serious. ‘That wasn’t his full speed before?’ He didn’t want to use his actual speed but if Akata kept on increasing he would have to, to save his own face. He burst forth with a newfound speed that was utterly astonishing. He seemed to merge into the dark jungle as his speed reached new heights.
‘His speed is so fast. Is this what the speed of someone at the Great Circle can unleash? And he seems to be infusing the element of illusion into his movement… so he’s trying to make me lose him. Heh.’ A smile widened across Akata’s face. ‘My nature sense can keep track of him easily. As for his speed, I think I can handle it. I didn’t know that I could use both cultivation bases at the same time so I can use the speed burst from both of them.’
Akata’s crimson eyes seemed to have dim down as they grew dark and cloudy. ‘Merge with the shadows. Blend in with the dark. Counter the speed of light with the speed of darkness.’ Akata completely transformed into a shadowy figure as he mixed in with the dark of the night. His body looked like a mist as it flitted across the trees.
That wasn’t it as he rotated both his mortal and plant cultivation base at full speed. His speed jumped up once again. Before this point Akata could be considered the fastest person at the 4th Grade but now he utterly crushed that speed. He was using his full speed as of now and was quickly approaching Tabet.
Tabet saw Akata increase his speed explosively once again and his eyes went wide. ‘This speed should only be possible for someone at the 9th Grade! And my illusion element with my speed isn’t even able to confuse him. How in the hell is he able to do this? Is it because he is also a plant cultivator.’ Tabet was instantly flustered.
Tabet sighed and finally let loose. He was going to use his full speed now. Akata was looking directly at him right now as he had caught up, but then Tabet just disappeared.
“Huh? Where did he go?” Akata was surprised and murmured to himself.
“Right here.” A whisper sounded in Akata’s ear surprising him. He turned his head to see nothing. He stretched his nature sense out and his eyes went completely wide with disbelief.
“Wha… how?” Akata said.

The Mortal Acts
The Mortal Acts is an epic progression fantasy with a lower focus on training aspects and a great focus on discovering new ways of using powers intelligently. I've always been drawn to stories where characters use their powers creatively to overcome opponents and obstacles, and I think all the possibilities can provide a great playground for twists and turns. It's inspired by a variety of media, including Will Wight's Cradle, Hunter x Hunter, and Bioshock, so if you like the creative power use elements from those, come check it out. This is my first serial, and please feel free to leave comments and feedback. For backstory, behind-the-scenes, and other fun stuff, come chat on my discord! Become a patron to read up to 20 chapters ahead here! Blurb: Riven Morell cuts short his regular life at school and home when his mother falls terminally ill. Desperate to find a cure, he travels to Severance Frontier, a desolate land haunted by hordes of ghosts, witches, and demons collectively called the Deathless. But a miraculous cure doesn’t magically fall into his hands. Things are worse in Severance Frontier than Riven had assumed. Ghosts are banding together into armies, demons are kidnapping anyone who strays out of settlements, and witches are enslaving everyone left and right. Riven, of course, gets embroiled in the mess. Missions to curb the Deathless activity are one thing, but when it starts to look like this is just the beginning of a war that extends beyond the mortal realm, Riven has a hard time focusing on why he came to Severance Frontier in the first place. His mother is inching towards death with every passing day, but if he doesn’t face down the Deathless, what little civilization the Frontier holds will be overrun and destroyed. Thankfully, it looked like the Deathless might just hold the secret of the elusive cure.

The Last Journey
A slice of life litrpg story... or is it? It's burning slow, though. Moving on: War comes with a great cost. Lives and time wasted for most part. One could either be run with sword, be poisoned, be bowed, and sometimes meet their end with just a tiny speck of wood. With magic, it becomes even more colorful. From lightning, to worse poison, to hovering rocks, to weird bladed leaves, to whipping roots, and to a lot more odd things easily reasoned with magic. A wonderful creation. But once used to something more than wonder, more than tricks to gather laughs, it becomes worse. War becomes worse. For there is not only blood to be spilled. A particular town almost met the same end. Soldiers geared with swrords and bows came with mounts. Horses burning lush grasses as it cracked boulders and the soil alike with every step. The kind that only war ones could ever do. Even strange wheeled creations that oozed danger were towed, loaded with something meant to destroy. But not once had they acted upon what such devices should've done, nor what an an army is supposed to do. Siege never occurred, as much as a command to war. No. Magic existed so a simple little fire is all the worth the town has. No sword drawn, no arrows nocked, nothing. Just some mana spent and through the ash they march. That was how Nudius saw her end. It came not even as a surprise. She didn't have the moment to fully register what occurred before she found herself in an empty dark space. Life lost, time spent. All from a fire that had not even touched her. But she knew very well that it was magic. Something she wished to have and strived for to have. Yet it seemed that none of it would matter now. Nudius was well aware of what the color around meant, of the odd situation, of the unfeeling state of her being. It was death and that was it. She didn't have to worry or dream further. Although there wasn't what she truly wanted in what death to her is, but at least, Nudius was comforted to what she believed death is. Rest. But little did she know there's something more than that empty space. It wasn't only the promise of rest, but was also more than she could ever hope for. Another chance at life. Another chance to dream. ***Tags are there just in case. You never know! Umm... HI-MI-TSU. Story blurb+: This is slow burn, quite slice of life story about a girl learning magic. All the while as she fatten herself up. So yeah, progression fantasy. But there's Litrpg! Numbers! Magic! Spells! And of course! There's something more. But read on ahead, please. Oh yes. Plot! There is, too. Disclaimer: The cover isn't made by me. Just layered it with a text. I got it from a free website, if I correctly recall. I'll see to it. (Haven't worked on it.)
