《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 42: Cultivating Demonic Hellfire
Advertisement
After finishing up the World Omen of Lord Dullahan Akata went to comprehend the Searing Heat of the Underworld. He got this technique from the Hellhound’s blood he had absorbed in that mysterious place Second Elder put him in. Since he got it from the absorbed blood, the technique would forever be with him and he would never have to worry about forgetting it because it was flowing through his veins.
It was a technique that enabled one to cultivate true hellfire. True hellfire was one of the great fires of the heavens. There were many types of hellfire that could be cultivated, however true hellfire was the greatest of them all, as it contained heavenly daos mixed in it. Hellfire was mainly used by demonic beings in the underworld and was extremely painful to people. It could even burn the soul of the person directly when cultivated to a high degree.
“Cultivating true hellfire is extremely dangerous, if I do this wrong I could burn my own soul. But it will be a great asset for me if I can use it in battle. Not many people in the Mortal Rank can use heavenly elements, let alone get their hands on techniques to cultivate it.” Akata saw this as a good opportunity to increase his strength.
“First thing that I must do is to summon true hellfire. Since true hellfire comes from the Underworld, in order to access it in this world I have to summon it here. There are many ways to get true hellfire. One is to travel to the Underworld which with my cultivation base is impossible. The other is to be cast to the Underworld and absorb it into your soul while there, then when resurrected you would have to reach a high cultivation base and regain your memories from your last life and cultivate your inner true hellfire. Or I can have somebody who already possesses true hellfire to summon it for me to cultivate, but I don’t know anybody who has it.”
“None of those work for me, but luckily there is another way. Turn regular fire into demonic hellfire and throughout my life slowly absorb the heavenly daos to turn it into true hellfire. Though it will take a while to acquire true hellfire, I will have demonic hellfire which is still stronger than regular fire.”
Akata wasn’t depressed about the fact he couldn’t cultivate true hellfire as soon as he can, that was because true hellfire caused the person to go through their inner demons. Because Akata didn’t have many inner demons that would mean his true hellfire wouldn’t be strong at all. If he had actually attained true hellfire now and cultivated it then it would have just a bit more strength than demonic hellfire.

“To get true hellfire I would have to make it from demonic hellfire. To make demonic fire is actually easy for me right now. To create demonic hellfire I just have to use demon blood to taint regular fire and give it a demonic aura. It’s a good thing that Hellhound was a demonic beast. Even though it wasn’t fully a demon it should be usable.”
Akata stood up from his meditative position. He then set up a fire in the area and watched it for a while. “I don’t know how much fire I will need to make demonic fire so I should make this bigger.” As of the moment the fire he set up was only a meter tall. He added more wood to the fire and sought to make it grow. Soon the fire blazed about five meters tall. “This should be enough.”
Akata stood in front of the conflagration and lifted his hand in front of it. His palm faced the fire and a drop of blood came out. This was some of the Hellhound’s blood that he had absorbed. The drop of blood flew out and hovered in front of Akata as he drew an incantation in the air. The drop of blood started glowing with a red-black light and flew straight to the fire. The fire burst and grew another meter and adapted red-black flames.
The heat of the flames grew way more intense and the sparks flew off much more sporadically. The flame took on a more sinister aura and the pressure in the area made the air become stifling. Akata took a deep breath and made another incantation gesture. The fire started to condense on itself and shrink down. The smaller it got, however, the more berserk it got.
The flame continued to grow smaller and the air grew sinister as it did. Beads of sweat formed on Akata. Magic was never his forte and this was a strenuous task for him. He clenched his teeth and held on. After the fire stopped shrinking, Akata would throw some more wood in there to make it grow again, then flash another incantation gesture to cause it to shrink again. This would make the fire condense more demonic power to make up for the lack of purity in the blood.
That was how Akata went about creating his demonic fire. When the flame went low he would add more wood to increase the size of it then flash an incantation gesture to condense itself. It took a whole day before the fire was a little more than a meter tall. The flames were a deep dark red with black sparks flying off sometimes. The heat and pressure was so intense that when Akata tried to put more wood into it the wood was crushed before it got there and then burned into nothingness. Akata was extremely surprised by this.

He was laying front of the fire yet the pressure and heat didn’t affect him as much, even though he hadn’t cultivated it yet. “It must be because some of my blood was mixed with the demon beast which is why it feels so familiar to me. Well anyways I finally have it so it is time to cultivate it.”
Akata sat up and looked directly at the fire. He then closed his eyes and started to meditate. When it came to meditating and connecting with nature, you could say no disciple in the sect could beat him. In fact only the top four Elders and the Sect Leader were better than him. So when he started meditating on the fire he found it very easy to do.
“This fire is my own since it is made of my blood. When it comes time to use the heavenly daos I learn and change this fire into true hellfire it will be extremely close to me and powerful. In fact it will be a new type of hellfire.” Akata eyes glistened with anticipation.
After meditating on the fire to become accustomed to it he began to flash an incantation gesture in the air. “Time to absorb it. I have to make sure this doesn’t burn my soul.” To cultivate an element one had to fully absorb it. To do that it had to first enter and nourish the body and then the soul, and finally enter and settle down in the dantion region.
The first part was dangerous but didn’t cause any serious lasting damage if anything went wrong. It was the second part that was the most dangerous of the absorption process. Of course it varied depending on the element being absorbed. Since Akata was absorbing fire then his soul had the chance of being burned. If the soul was burned then that could not be repaired. But if you passed all that then the final part was a walk in the part, all that had to be done was settle the element in the dantion region.
“Time to start.” Akata finished the incantation gesture and opened his mouth. A piece of demonic hellfire flew into his mouth and a warm sensation went through him. The demonic hellfire went through his whole body but since his own blood was used to make it, no damage was done. “Time to move on to the soul region.”
The flame moved through his body and closed in on his soul region. As it approached a scorching sensation could be felt. Akata sensed this and tried to slow it down. The flame closed in on his soul and Akata could feel it about to burst into flames. “Control it. CONTROL IT!” Sweat started to pour from his body and his robe became drenched.
The demonic hellfire was sinister, even though it had a piece of Akata’s blood, it continued to burn vigorously. Soon it entered his soul region and made its way to his soul. Akata felt as if his life energy was about to burn up. His eyes became bloodshot and he flashed an incantation gesture as he tried to control the demonic hellfire.
Akata let out a roar but it didn’t stop anything. The area around his soul was encased in flames and it was moving closer. Akata felt a sense of great danger as his soul region burst into flames. “Arghh!” Akata let out a cry and spat out a mouthful of blood. The pain was tremendous and he felt his whole body about to burst into flames.
“Argh!” Akata let out another cry and spat out a mouthful of blood. His whole body felt like it was on fire. The intense heat caused his body to form cracks and his blood to boil. His eyes were bloodshot and his robe was soaked with sweat.
The demonic hellfire covered his soul region and was moving closer to his soul. It passed through his soul region and started to burn his gold rune. The rune started flickering and looked as if it might fall apart.
The flames made their way to his red rune where it too lit on fire. The red rune started flickering also and was fading away. It did nothing to stop the flames from advancing to the soul.
“This will not burn my soul. This flame contains my own blood, and is mine. I will control this fire, it doesn’t matter if it’s demonic fire or even true hellfire, I WILL control this!” Akata closed his eyes and forcefully went into a meditative state.
