《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 40: Akata’s Punishment

Ming Lu appeared in front of a huge area that was covered with buildings and shops and everything else in between. She looked around and immediately knew where she was. “I’m back in the Holy Beast Kingdom?” She was at a loss and before she could begin walking Ming Xu appeared right next to her.
“Eh?” Ming Xu instantly saw Ming Lu and was confused, but then tears formed within her eyes as she ran to her gave her a big hug. “I’m so sorry sis! I should have listened to you since the beginning, because of me we have gotten banished from the sect. It’s all my fault!” Tears streamed down her face as she cried out.
Ming Lu held tightly and embraced her. She held Ming Xu in her arms and allowed her to cry into her chest. “It’s okay Little Xu Xu I forgive you. It’s my fault as well but we’ll discuss this at a later time. For now let’s report back to the clan.”
As Ming Lu spoke she looked off at the gate in front of her and saw the words on top. ‘Ming Clan’ The gate opened up and out walked a man wearing a black robe. He was followed by six other people who walked behind him but kept up with his pace.
“Princess Ming Lu and Princess Ming Xu welcome home. It’s quite a surprise to see you here so sudden and without warning. Why is that?” The man spoke in a clear light voice. His hands were behind his back and he looked like a transcendent being.
“Elder Ming Gonggong, matters had abruptly came up within Red Cloud Sect and were forced to come here earlier than expected. We would like to talk more inside with our father first before going into detail.” Ming Lu put on the air of a princess and spoke with royal manners.
“Very well then. Allow for us to guide you then.” With that the man led Ming Xu and Ming Lu back into the clan.
Red Cloud Hall
Akata stood there looking at the Sect Leader banish person after person. He was calm the whole time and his face was blank. He wasn’t the least bit worried about the Sect Leader killing Ming Lu or Ming Xu. He wanted Xiun Wu dead but he knew it wouldn’t happen.
But what really shocked Akata was what the Sect Leader said to Xiun Wu. “What do you mean by ‘heavily injuring’ Peizhi Xiuying? She was dead when I carried her all the way over here. I know I wasn’t mistaken.” He yelled out.
“Oh? So you’re doubting what I say now? Is that defiance against the sect? Are you trying to get banished along with the others as well?” the Sect Leader retorted.
“Sect Leader Fu it would be nice of you to tell me about Peizhi Xiuying.” Akata didn’t want to get off track and instead brought the conversation back on topic.

The Sect Leader looked closely at Akata and didn’t speak further. Third Elder who hadn’t said anything this whole time spoke up instead. “Peizhi Xiuying was indeed heavily injured to the point of being on the edge of dying, but she hadn’t died. Right now she is recuperating at the Medicine Pavilion, once she is back in shape she will be taken back to her clan.”
Akata was surprised as his eyes went wide. His breathing became haggard and his heart sped up. He just couldn’t believe what he was hearing at the moment. He immediately turned around as he was going to run to the Medicine Pavilion.
However, before he could take two steps a voice resounded right next to his ear. “Where do you think you are going?” Akata came to a halt and looked behind him. The Sect Leader was standing less than a meter away from him at this time.
She spoke again. “Do you think you’re getting off for free without any consequences yourself? Humph, as if. Akata, for almost killing multiple disciples around the Seventh Arena, you will be locked away for two months by yourself.” With that she swished her sleeve and Akata disappeared.
Akata reappeared in a forest surrounded by trees and vegetation. He sniffed the air and could smell the seawater around. “What is this place? It doesn’t look like a prison.”
“That’s because it isn’t.” A voice resounded. A man in brown furs appeared and as soon as he did he took a sip from his alcohol flagon. Akata looked over at him.
“You will be locked up on this small island for two months. Nobody will be here to help as you will only have yourself, that is your punishment. You have to survive on your own out here so don’t end up dying.
“Your best chance of survival would be to gain enlightenment and comprehend the various techniques you have acquired. You should also get accustomed to your weapon as fast as you can. Probably carrying it with you at all times no matter what you’re doing or where you are would suffice.”
Akata nodded his head in understanding.
“Be careful as you have to find food out here by yourself. Don’t starve to death.
It was true, some cultivators could spend months in meditation comprehending items, even spending years at a time. If Akata got lost in meditation and found himself starving it would be truly bad.
Fourth Elder turned around to take his leave. Soon Akata was the only one on the small island..
He looked around and saw his bag of holding beside him. He looked inside where he saw his scythe and grabbed it, then he sat down cross legged. The second thing he pulled out was the World Omen of Lord Dullahan technique. If he was going to carry this scythe with him at all times he might as well learn about it first.

This was going to be his first time looking through the scythe part of this technique. He took a deep breath. He flipped to the first page where the introduction was and began reading.
To many people death is the end of everything. No matter how long you live, whether it be decades, centuries, or millenniums, or even if you have eternal life, death will still follow. I have ruled countless worlds and battled an even more astonishing amount of people. I have killed countless beings and brought an end to their lives. Death was the only thing that laid in my path. My blades and whips have brought along carnage and blood and tears wherever they passed through.
Yet with all this death people still live. They live to fight death, and as I live on, i find that I am also doing the same. In my last bid to cheat death I gained enlightenment towards it. Only by truly understanding what death is can one transcend it. I have overcome the death tribulation and shall now leave this plane.
As a testament to my struggles I shall leave my will to those below me in order to spread my teachings. Only those who truly want to understand pain, suffering, loss, and death shall understand my intentions. If one day you are able to understand death seek me out, for I will pass down my personal secrets onto you.
Akata read the introduction and felt that it held many secrets within it. Maybe his cultivation base wasn’t high enough or maybe he just didn’t understand. Yet because of that he wanted to understand more. He wanted to increase his cultivation so that he will be able to see those secrets. At first he was a little bit wary of actually training in this technique but after reading this he had no more qualms about it.
“If I am to become stronger then I must learn all that I can. Only by understanding the things most don’t understand will I be able to stand above the rest.” Akata’s eyes showed with a clear light as he went back to reading the technique.
“This book is divided into sections based on the weapon one chooses to use. The section for the scythe is all the way in the back of the book.” Akata flipped the pages until he got to the back of the book. As he got there he made an, “Eee?” sound and focused intently on the book.
“There’s only a single page for the scythe? And the whole page isn’t even filled up.” Akata was confused and thought something was wrong so he flipped the page only to find that nothing was ripped out. It was really the last page in the book. He flipped back to read what was on the page.
The scythe is the true weapon of death. It is the weapon of choice by the demon Death himself. Although it is a simple weapon the secrets it holds are unfathomable. Not even I have found all the secrets to it. But the secrets I have found are too profound to write with words. My full intent cannot be shown with a simple stroke from ink. To express my knowledge on scythes I must deliver to you my intent personally. Yet this intent cannot be given to just anybody, only those who have devoted themselves to the scythe may receive my intent and will.
Akata’s breathing sped up as he read the words left behind by Lord Dullahan. Even though this was a copy of the simplified version of his true work, it still held a powerful intent that caused Akata’s cultivation base to stir.
Akata didn’t know how to prove that he was devoted to the scythe, but he unconsciously gripped onto the scythe that was in his lap. When he did that his red rune started rotating in his soul region. It spun around faster and faster, faster than it had ever gone before. A glow spread out across Akata’s body and even the scythe. Amidst the glow a red mark appeared on the handle of the scythe. The mark actually resembled Akata’s red rune.
When the glow spread to the scythe Akata finally noticed it and he was surprised. But he didn’t resist it because he felt like he was becoming one with it. He closed his eyes and felt for the scythe.
He felt the scythe’s intent and its will to go out into the world again. Akata felt that the scythe wasn’t a weapon used to cause death wherever it went, but was a tool meant to guide the soul of the being to the next life.
The scythe seemed to also feel Akata’s feelings and intent and also resonated with it. He felt the desire to become the strongest and the fighting will that came from Akata. The resonance between the two caused the scythe to be branded with the symbol of the red rune.
All of a sudden the World Omen of Lord Dullahan started glowing with a black aura. The book started floating in midair in front of Akata and a voice entered his mind.
“The path you tread is one of death. The scythe is your path to power. The will of the scythe resonates within you, now you shall receive my intent and knowledge as well.”
A flood of information entered Akata’s mind as Lord Dullahan’s intent poured into his mind. Although it was a simplified version of the technique and the intent being transmitted into his mind was also simplified. The sheer amount and the profoundness of it surpassed anything Akata knew. The intent was causing him to blackout and he bit his tongue to stay conscious. If it wasn’t for his strong mental energy he would have already passed out.
