《Forsaking Reality》Chapter 3: Receiving Destiny

A few more hours passed. The moon hung high in the sky now. The sparse clouds didn’t obstruct the light shining from it. The wind was calm and collected as if consoling Red Cloud Sect and Purple Sky City. It was a cool peaceful night and everything was at ease.
The sect disciples were all in their rooms. Though a day had passed it didn’t mean the commotion had. People still talked about the events involving Akata. In fact, there were even more conversations about him now. The news about him even spread throughout the city.
“I heard Akata went through some horrific tribulation that he might not survive through.”
“That’s nothing I heard that he was the target of an assassination.”
“Oh yeah, Seventh Elder of the sect told a group of us that the Sect Leader is looking this matter over personally.”
Word spread around quickly and soon everyone in the city knew about it. Even though it was a hot topic in Purple Sky City, the other neighboring cities didn’t even bother turning their ears in the direction of the noise. Stuff like this was normal in the other cities where the strong resided. People there fight and kill all the time, it was like normal everyday life.
It had been a full day since Akata had started enduring the pain of having his body mutilated from the inside out. His muscles had even eventually started tearing off of his body. With the pain finally about to dissipate Akata could finally come to his senses and he gradually opened his eyes. His eyes were bloodshot and all he could see for a moment was red, eventually it started clearing up and as he looked around he was at a loss of where he was. Even though the Red Cloud Hall was the main building in the sect, even the elders weren’t allowed in unless they received permission, to say nothing of the regular disciples. It was the private residence of the Sect Leader and therefore people weren’t allowed to come in and out as they saw fit.
As he was looking around he suddenly noticed a figure sitting in a throne some distance away from him. Even though his eyes were still a bit blurry he was able to tell that the figure was looking right at him. He suddenly felt a sense of crisis as he didn’t know what was going on. As he focused on the figure his eyes became wide with disbelief and astonishment, and then hatred. His brows furrowed and his mouth frowned.
What he saw was a slim woman in a snow white robe almost like a dress that showed off her good features. She had striking red hair that reached to her lower back and red eyes to complement it. Her skin was as white as snow and made her look angelic. The natural aura she gave off was powerful and caused great pressure. She stared at him as if she didn’t notice the hatred he was building up. She then tilted her head to the side and chuckled, showing her twinkling white teeth.

Akata didn’t seem to be fazed by her beauty in the slightest. His brows continued to be furrowed and his frown deepened. What he saw in front of him was the same lady from his dream.
“Don’t be like that little one. I was just tasked with giving you that present. It’s not like I did it on purpose.” The Sect Leader said with an angelic tone.
Even though he knew that he was no match for this figure in front of him, his hatred still climbed with each passing breath. He went through that hell like pain and could’ve died because of this person in front of him. If it wasn’t for his heaven defying determination and will to go against death he most certainly would’ve given up and perished in the first moments of the pain.
“Since you obviously harbor resentment towards me I guess it’s no more fun trying to tease you.” She put on a pouting face that would make any man melt with lust if they were to look at it. But Akata was no man, he was only 13 and all he showed toward the lady was hatred.
“I am Sect Leader Fu. Since you have survived the test then I can let you accept the destiny that has been entrusted to you. You could only accept the destiny if you experience the pain of the first level of hell and endure it for a day. It tests your willpower and determination to live. Since you have passed then you can accept the destiny.” She looked on at Akata to see that his face still hadn’t let up and that the hatred he had still hadn’t disappeared. It actually caused one of her eyes to twitch a little. Obviously, she was getting annoyed with him as of now.
Hearing the lady in front of him address herself as Sect Leader caused Akata’s face to look confused for a moment, but then he remembered what she did and it changed back. Even though she was the Sect Leader, she rarely made her way out of the Red Sect Hall. Almost no disciples of the sect or even citizens of the city had even seen her, if they did they would think she was an outsider. Even though the disciples of the Red Cloud Sect knew they had a sect leader they never knew who it was. In turn they came to believe that First Elder was acting as the Sect Leader.
She closed her eyes, cleared her throat, and began speaking again.
“The destiny can only be accepted by a certain bloodline from an ancient clan. And you have that blood flowing through you. My master has tasked me with awakening your bloodline to accept that destiny in you when I felt that you were ready.” She peeked open one eye to catch a glimpse at Akata’s face to see that it still hadn’t changed.
The pressure in the room suddenly increased exponentially. Akata felt a profound sense of danger and his face quickly paled as he felt fear coursing through him. He blinked once and found that the lady was right in front of him stretching her hand out towards his chest. Akata instantly felt a deadly crisis approaching but there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t resist in the slightest.

“Sigh”
“Fu’er.”
The hand that was approaching him suddenly stopped a hair away from touching his chest. Although he wasn’t injured and the hand wasn’t moving anymore the sense of danger didn’t decrease in the slightest, in fact it kept increasing. The more it stayed there the more the sense of danger kept increasing as if the killing intent in the hand was building up.
Akata looked up at the Sect Leader’s face to see that her hair was flowing as if it was the flame of her life. Her eyes were cold and filled with killing intent yet her hand did not move forward in the slightest. Her face held different emotions on it like she was contemplating something. You could see frustration, resentment, and a hint of fear. Even though she stopped moving her eyes were still fixed on Akata, burning with killing intent.
Her mouth moved yet Akata couldn’t hear what she was saying. It kept moving like she was having a conversation with somebody yet Akata couldn’t feel any other presence in the room and he didn’t dare to move a bit. It was as if he was sealed off from the outside world.
Finally, after what seemed like eternity went by, the Sect Leader’s hand slowly receded. She took in a deep breath and blew it all out. Although she calmed herself down the pressure didn’t ease up a bit. Her eyes still held a cold glint in them and her face showed a pout.
Akata still stood there not daring to move a muscle. He was looking straight at her but then she vanished to reappear back in the throne. The whole thing happened in the time it takes to take a single breath. It was like a vision that occurred to him that showed him what she was capable of if he didn’t fix his face.
Sect Leader Fu sat there in her throne her face showing the unfair treatment she just went through. She was resting her head on her hand while she looked off to the left of the room. She then turned her head to look at Akata. Their eyes met for a breath of time, but then she looked away again.
“Now that your bloodline has awakened you can receive what is rightfully yours. Do try not to be killed too early before you complete your task. It truly would be a shame. Well, not that I care anyways. Your future will be rough but if you traverse it to the end then you’ll have the power to change this reality with the turn of your hand.” Her face held indifference as she spoke these words.
“Se… Sect Leader Fu? What is this bloodline that you say I possess?” Akata spoke these words in the kindest tone he could utter at the moment. He didn’t dare to displease the person in front of him who had an explosive temper and could kill him with the touch of a hand.
Sect Leader Fu’s face flickered with a look of disdain at the question but she quickly covered it up. “If I were to tell you and news spread that you possess it, do you think you’ll have the power to face those who will come after you?” She said this with indifference and a mocking tone.
Akata’s face immediately paled at the words spoken by the sect leader. His lips quivered and his pupils constricted. He didn’t have to ask what that meant, he obviously knew what she meant by those words. It was telling him that his bloodline was so special that people would do anything to get their hands on it. Which in turn means he would have to die. Akata gulped down some saliva that was gathering in his throat.
“But since you’re looking for more information yet also don’t want to die early I can tell you one thing. In today’s modern times cultivators only focus on training their Spirit Energy, but a true cultivator doesn’t just train their Spirit Energy but also their Body and Mental Energy. Spirit Energy represents our inner energy, in modern times people only train in this to gain a longer life. Although in turn it does make you stronger but in truth it is actually the weakest way to do so. The body is a physical product birthed from the universe. Since it came from the universe it naturally has the capability to affect the universe, which means the stronger the body the more you can affect your surroundings. Cultivating the body is the second of the strongest. And finally Mental Energy, it completes the trifecta of the universe and can affect the natural laws of the universe. This is the strongest of the three to cultivate in and also the hardest. But if you can reach the pinnacle in cultivating it then nothing can stand in your way, because you’ll have control over the laws of the universe and the heavens.”
It was then that she stopped speaking and gave a deep look at Akata and then sighed. Akata was sitting there contemplating what he just heard. Training the body was something he had heard about and semi practiced but it was said to be the weakest in terms of strength compared to training the spirit. Training the mind was something he hadn’t even heard of before, but the sect leader just said it was able to control even the heavens.
Sitting in her throne the Sect Leader closed her eyes. She lifted her hand where a crimson rune could be seen. She tossed it out toward Akata where it fused into his torn muscles. His body convulsed and before he lost consciousness the Sect Leader waved her sleeve and he saw a red glow overtake him. All of a sudden he was back in his room.
He then passed out.
