《The Monster App》Chapter 50 – Divine Tamer Order

Both the passenger and cargo JTD landed on Seward's runway by evening. Hundreds of soldiers from the UGP waiting for them with buses, medical tents, and cargo trucks for transporting the corpses. When the survivors from Texas disembarked from the aircraft's rear, they were guided into a medical tent for inspection before proceeding to the registration area, divided into Tamers and Non-Tamer lines. Once their DNA codes, identity documents, professional experience history, and Monster partner skills are recorded, both groups are then loaded onto buses that take them to a new town built for new residents.
Knowing full well that the size of the population would triple over the coming weeks, the UGP ordered the creation of prefabricated housing blocks that can offer several thousand people the basic necessities to live comfortably until they are assigned a permanent residence.
Commander Ethan requested Travis, Benjamin, and Dale to accompany him to the UGP HQ to debrief the senior leadership about the mission. The Marines joined them since they had to report the battlefield assessment of new tech and gear. Selvaria followed Dale and asked if she could accompany them to meet their Admiral, to which Ethan overheard and agreed to her request given her background. Meanwhile, Lang Chi, Sevire Blase, and Rebecca Lawman walked together towards the apartment complex requisitioned to house frontline members of the Tamer battalion.
On their way back, they noticed the Church of Asher was crowded by a large mass of people who were all the civilian residents of Seward. At its center stood the intimidating figure of the talking Dinosaur Aaron with his tamer Asher addressing the congregation on top of his monster's back. Some of his followers had taken on the White Toga's worn by those in ancient Roman Senate as a religious uniform. These individuals laid down pictures and lit scented candles at the base of a pillar made of several precious gemstones. On the surface of which is etched, 'In remembrance of our loved ones lost during the apocalypse.'
Asher. "Today! The armed forces of the UGP dropped the 'Rod of God' on the monsters that destroyed Dallas, Texas. They claim to have killed the Icebug Queen, her vile swarm, and rescued all the survivors without any casualties. Even though this is good news to hear, it saddened me to learn that members of the Tamer Battalion brought back an egg that bears the spawn of the Devil we know as Fluffals. They intend to hatch this egg and make it build an army for them to use against the rest of their kind. But I doubt they know what they are about to unleash on Seward if that monster decides its loyalty lies with its own kind. Thus I ask you, the good people of Seward, to be wary of the methods the UGP is willing to take to reclaim our world. For they are willing to go to any length to create weapons of war that could easily turn against us."

Lang Chi, Sevire Blase, and Rebecca Lawman heard the crowd roar their disapproval and question how they should deal with the threat.
Aaron. "Aaron will fucking tear them apart if they dare to harm Asher or his followers."
Asher. "Aaron will not be alone in this. I wish to propose the creation of a Divine Tamer Order. Their responsibility will be to bring justice to those who have been wronged by their fellows. To use their strength to protect the Non-Tamers from the UGP's thugs. To destroy those who threaten this Church and all those who seek salvation within its halls. Who among you will join this army that will be led by Aaron himself?"
The crowd cheered out their approval, and many Tamers stepped towards Aaron.
"I wish to join your Divine Tamer Order!"
"I am sick of the UGP doing whatever they want! We need someone like you two to tell the truth and fight for what's right!"
"My monster and I will serve the light that guides Asher! Please accept us!"
"There will be a day of reckoning when ordinary people suffer under a military dictatorship. We have to stand together with the Church of Asher and resist their madness."
"I abandoned my life as a soldier a long time ago, but I am willing to take up arms again if it is for a just cause as this if you will have me?"
Several more voices announced their desire to join the Divine Tamer Order.
Asher holds up a badge made of precious gemstones in the shape of the Trident horn similar to the now that adorned Aaron's head. From the top of the Church, two people unfurled a flag with the same Trident shape imprinted on it.
Asher. "Behold! The flag of our Divine Tamer Order, and this is the mark I bestow onto those who serve the will of light."
Asher calls up the followers who agreed to sign up and places the trident-shaped badges on their foreheads. It merged with their skin, and the gem lit up under the spotlights directed to their owner's faces.
Lang Chi. "Hey, didn't you all tell me that no one believes in Gods anymore? So how come a Dragon Gem God is being worshipped right in front of me?"
Rebecca. "First of all, that is a Dinosaur and not a Dragon, no matter how much gemstones cover its body. Second, I think a lot of people started praying again after D-Day. This kid is just preying on their need to find meaning in all the death and destruction."

Sevire. "I am just wondering how they learned about the Royal Egg when we just got off the plane less than half an hour. Do you think there is a leak in the leadership?"
Rebecca. "Of course, there is always a leak in any government. Even one run by the military, it seems."
Lang Chi. "Why are they are staring at us?"
Rebecca and Sevire looked back at the crowd around them and noticed their hostile gazes towards their Tamer battalion uniforms.
Sevire. "Guys... I am hungry. Let's get out of here."
The trio slowly walked away from the Church and soon found themselves in the commercial district eating dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant that serves Shawarma.
Rebecca. "Looks like Asher is creating an army right under our nose."
Sevire. "Isn't he Sergei's half-brother? Why not ask him to knock some sense into the kid?"
Rebecca pondered how the conversation would play out since she was aware that they both didn't have a close relationship, to begin with. Then she recalled Sergei talking about trying to reconnect with his brother for political purposes during a dinner with Mash and the rest of the ex-tamer council members apart from Zao.
Rebecca. "What if Sergei is the leak."
Sevire. "What makes you say that?"
Rebecca. "Think about it! If Asher builds an army of fanatics, he can help Sergei get into power in Russia before their father's seat gets occupied by a General or someone else."
Sevire. "So this Divine Tamer Order is just a fancy way to get to Sergei an army?"
Rebecca. "Who knows, my theory is that Asher pretends to believe in a higher power to create a cult to do his bidding."
Lang chi. "I didn't sense any falsehood in the child's words during his speech."
Sevire. "Whatever, I am sure the leadership or the Intel Gathering Wing is keeping track of this group."
Rebecca. "If they decide to stand against us, then there will be a war between Tamers, right?"
Sevire. "His followers will only become a threat if the UGP fucks up trying to control the Queen inside the egg."
Rebecca. "Do you think the UGP will really try making a Chimera army?"
Sevire. "If they can control it, they might. If not, then it's dead. Simple as that."
Rebecca. "But Ben said to me on the plane that the Queen needed to eat Tamers to create a Chimera bug like the ones we fought outside the stadium."
Sevire. "Those things were a pain to kill. We only got lucky because Selvaria crippled their access to Mana."
Rebecca. "She seems a bit OP don't ya think?"
Sevire. "Admit it! You are jealous of her."
Rebecca. "You would be too if you were stuck with skills that need time to build up an army to fight for you."
Lang Chi. "The Moon God is powerful, but we too have the Godly powers lying dormant inside us. We just need to focus on awakening it."
Sevire. "What are you talking about?"
Lang Chi. "We train, fight, and evolve our monsters to the next form like Sun God and Bee God."
Sevire. "If I am not mistaken, today was the first mission we three have been on. It will take at least several missions with many enemies before we are ready to evolve."
Rebecca. "Killing monsters isn't the only way to level up anymore. If you haven't heard, there is an Arena now for Tamers to fight each other in duels and level up their abilities without putting their lives at risk."
Lang Chi. "Oooh, I like the sound of this. Can we go check it out?"

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.
