《Author Vs Protagonist》Chapter 28: Truly kind

“If he was just a member of the Murton Family, it wouldn’t be enough to cover his tracks. However, the students that he ruined were commoners. In fact, that’s the only reason he even dared use that poisonous medicine.” Asyraaf viewed this acts with disdain.
Nobles who have hold great powers should protect commoners and the common people. But this situation was the exact opposite of that.
Nobles were somewhat apathetic when it comes to commoners.
As long as commoners do not cause trouble, they would ignore them, even when they have faced mistreatment. While this may not apply to all nobles, the large majority of them do. After all, not everyone was like Vincent Cromwell.
Zhang Wei furrowed his brows. Anyone could clearly see that he was not amused. It was not like Zhang Wei was a saint or anything, but he was nonetheless a part of the common people.
Back in his old world, he hated hearing news that politicians wasted public funds on their own personal benefit, while some citizens were starving and homeless.
Even in his home country, the leader stole funds and stored it in his personal account. The worse is when he tried to play it off as an ‘investment’ that did not work and tried to hide the truth from the common populace.
He never expected that even in this world, greed was still and overpowering problem.
“Zhang Wei has heard of the sufferings commoners faced and couldn’t help but feel indignant. His nobleness can never endure when he sees injustice occurring in this wretched world, and so he decided to help them.”
…
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
As much as Zhang Wei wanted the Author to say that sort of thing, it was an unlikely event.
Hmph! Who cares if the Author tells me to do it or not! I’ll just do it on my own. I’ll punish all those assholes even if it’s the last thing I do.

However, he knew now was not a good time. He still had work to do in the academy itself.
What he should do right now is make sure he reaches a point in power, where he has weight to his voice. While also not being a pawn in someone’s game, particularly Division Head Nar’s.
It didn’t take long both of them finished lunch. Seeing as he still had quite a bit of time, Asyraaf offered to show Zhang Wei around the Refining Division.
Zhang Wei was already planning to roam the academy, so he agreed. Asyraaf put back on his disguise and led the way.
Zhang Wei was actually quite embarrassed to walk with this idiot. But he didn’t really have anyone better to help him, so he relented.
Walking through the Refining Division was like a breath of fresh air. It had a different feeling compared to the Medical Division, though Zhang Wei couldn’t put his finger on it.
Walking through the various departments and shops made him become increasingly familiar with the smell of ingredients. While the Medical Division used a lot of it for crafting medicine, it could not be compared to the amount used on every single pill refinement or weapon refinement.
Asyraaf was a rather decent tour guide, showing Zhang Wei the specialties of the division, while also introducing Zhang Wei to the standard system that all divisions operate with.
Zhang Wei had an impression that each division was like its own government, but he didn’t expect it to actually be that precise.
Along the way, there a few weird encounters. Mostly people that came up to Asyraaf and bowed in respect. Each time this happened, Zhang Wei was clicked his tongue.
You’re doing it on purpose aren’t you? What’s the point of that ugly disguise if people can recognize you anyway? Freaking show off.

Well, with what he knew of Asyraaf’s personality, that was not unexpected. This was the same guy that was so narcissistic that he couldn’t stop bragging about how noble he was, despite the fact that he was about to die.
Zhang Wei didn’t actually know that Asyraaf was actually doing that on purpose, though the idea was stupid, at least he tried.
To be honest, Asyraaf was didn’t actually know how he felt towards Zhang Wei. At first he viewed Zhang Wei in respect for saving him and the rest from the White Wolves. But when he caught Zhang Wei stealing a lollipop from small helpless child, he was confused as to how he should feel.
Add in that Zhang Wei almost tried to silence him and the fact that he was forced to cooperate with Zhang Wei’s ridiculous plan, he grew to view Zhang Wei negatively.
However, the moment he saw Zhang Wei getting angry at mistreatment of commoners, he instantly grew back his respect.
One could hide their emotions, but when someone is genuinely angry, he will expose it no matter how small. There was a chance that he could be faking it for appearances sake, but to Asyraaf, it seemed genuine.
In the first place, he had no need to fool Asyraaf anyway. With his prowess, there was no need to impress a low level Martial Practitioner such a him. The fact that Zhang Wei cared for the lives and futures of commoners despite being an unfathomable expert, showed how kind he truly was.
While he was grateful that Zhang Wei cared so much, he was not hopeful that Zhang Wei could change anything. Yes, Zhang Wei is extremely powerful, but he couldn’t possibly stand up to the whole city’s experts. It would suicide, even with his powers.
Nevertheless, it touched Asyraaf’s heart and he vowed to help Zhang Wei anyway that he can. And he actually had a good way of helping him.
“Sir Zhang, would you like to meet my master?” Asyraaf asked with a smile.
