《Author Vs Protagonist》Chapter 14: Restrict

Break of dawn.
The morning sun rose up to shine its light upon the world, birds chirping and the warm breeze brush up against one cheeks.
Zhang Wei woke up on his bed. Though he was awake, he did not get up just yet, first he stared at the ceiling as looked back at the crazy day he had yesterday. In one day, he went from an average joe to an expert with strength capable of awing millions. He then got up from bed and without heaving breakfast, went out towards middle district. He had agreed to meet up with Asyraaf at a restaurant in the market square.
When he arrived at middle district, he saw a familiar scene, the streets were filled with people even this early in the morning. As he walked by, he made sure to completely cover his face and increased his vigilance, he obviously didn’t want the same incident as yesterday to happen again. As his pace was quite fast, he reached the restaurant in no time at all. He went inside and saw Asyraaf sitting in a table for two.
He walked up to him and saw the table was full of food. The food was appealing and exuded a smell that would make anyone’s mouth water. Zhang Wei sat across Asyraaf and they had a small chat before starting to eat. Throughout the meal, they discussed their plan again and again until it was fully engraved in their minds.
Zhang Wei’s plan was fairly simple, from what Asyraaf explained, there would be an assessment to determine the students capabilities. The assessment would include testing ones strength, aptitude, agility, spirit energy and level. One only needed to pass 3 of them to be officially enrolled as a student. For each test, there are minimum requirements that the candidate should achieve in order to pass. The candidates must be 16 years old and under to qualify, however if the candidate is over 16 and has great talent, then the academy would make an exception.

Zhang Wei was initially not worried at all about the assessment, but when he thought about it again, he started to worry a little bit. What would happen if he showed his actual abilities? At present, he was not able to control his immense strength and agility. If he could, then the lollipop theft situation would not have been so sensational, a random petty thief would not be able to create a storm an expert petty thief would. He then started to actually regret not choosing the Courageous hero option, as that would have made the perfect training for him. Seeing no other solution, he turned to the system, “Hey system, is there a way for me to successfully lower my stats?”.
DING!
“Why would you want to do that? The reason the great heavens even gave you powerful stats was to make up for your other trash qualities.” The system sounded annoyingly, “Well, there is a way, however it is not recommended for the user to do so. That is by using using the Level 3 Restriction Pill. Restriction Pill can forcefully allow you to halve your strength with each consumption. For you to match an average candidate, you would have to consume 3 pills. Do be warned that once you consume the pills, you cannot reverse the restriction until the set amount of time has passed.”
It was basically a double edged sword. While it can allow Zhang Wei to successfully infiltrate the academy, if an unfavorable situation occurred, he would not have the ability to defend himself. Since he did not want to waste time to training, he simply decided to consume the pill. “Alright, system what materials do I need to refine the pill?”
DING!
“Since the system is going to refine the pills, any pill that is lower than Level 6 will not require any materials.” Zhang Wei was exhilarated. Wow! How Overpowered is this system? I guess that name is not wasted. Not having to waste any time or effort to collect materials made Zhang Wei joyful.

In an instant, 3 pills were formed and appeared in Zhang Wei’s hand. The appearance of the Restriction Pills are different than Bone Strengthening Pill. Compared to the Bone Strengthening Pill, this pill had an even more refined aura and the design is even more striking. The pill was blue, with spiral shapes covering the surface. There were also ripple marks that made the pills seem even more precious. Zhang Wei did not waste time and immediately consumed the three pills. He felt his body heat up and ripples of power was bursting inside of him, after a while felt his strength fading, and his body felt weak. Calming down a bit, he then opened up his status.
_
Level: 2
Race: Human
STR: 7 (Restricted)
AGI: 7 (Restricted)
SP: 60
DEX: 7 (Restricted)
DEF: 7 (Restricted)
LCK: -30
Skills: [Beast Pressure](Restricted)
Remarks: Please don’t get yourself killed while you are weak. You know what, on second thought, just die already, this world will be more beautiful with one less ugly around.
_
Zhang Wei clicked his tongue at the remark and cursed the system in his heart. He then wondered why his spirit energy and luck was not restricted.
Is the pill flawed? But that can't be the case since the system was the one who refined it.
He came to the conclusion that spirit energy can be exhausted and a typical Martial Practitioner would usually have higher spirit energy compared to their other stats.
Zhang Wei and Asyraaf finished their food and headed straight for Zarion Academy. As Asyraaf was already a student here, he showed Zhang Wei the assessment area before going to the southern compound. He had other duties to attend to at the Refining Division.
Zhang Wei bid him goodbye and went to the assessment area. At the assessment area, Zhang Wei saw a white building with the sign, ‘Admittance Department’. As he was briefed before by Asyraaf, he went inside to sign up. Just as he was in front of the reception lady, a loud voice boomed behind him, “Move out of the way peasant!”
Zhang Wei heard that and frowned. Don’t tell me a cliched brainless antagonist just appeared.

Frank Ebner once wanted to save the world. Let the second one be better than the first. On Earth he was a student of... well it hardly matters anymore. It was dying, and he and the rest of his fellows and friends studying how to stave off the end graduated just in time to be told it was too late. That there was not enough time, funds, will, to stop it anymore. That the governments and the worthies of the world had moved from trying to stop it, to surviving the oncoming apocalypse, while blaming each other. That was a world Frank wanted nothing to do with. One riven by wars for places in the Archologies going up, and between them and the dying world they were leaving behind. So when a strange voice offered him a way out, to a world unmarred by the poison killing his? Frank took it. The voyage changed him, made him fit his new world, one of stats and magic. It came with perks, for in passing through their Heavens, they'd been exposed to Divinity, and taken some of the Celestial within them. Heroes now, but there are heroes, and there are Heroes. The nobility of the Empire care only for those who carry blessed bloodlines, and their time to adapt and train up for the new world is limited. Patrons are scarce among those like Frank, with only the base Hero perks, and magic studies expensive and lengthy. Often requiring heavy Oaths to gain the necessary aid to wield mana as a mage. Frank found another way. It nearly cost him his life. Now on the run and burned by the very magic he sought and craved, he is a pilgrim traveling to the The Eternal Tree, font of Perseverance. Frank hopes Ir-karlak will grant him some way to recover from the fires that scorched him. Without snuffing out the embers those fires lit within, for he has learned to harness them and he would not give up magic for the world. *** In the last 21 days, as I update this, I've managed about 18-19 updates. So Scorched should update most days, muse willing. She's fickle, sometimes. Not every day, but most. If there's an update for the day, it will be at 7PM, GMT+2. *[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Actually completed it. :) *
