《Author Vs Protagonist》Chapter 8: Like A Wimp

“Handsome?”, Vincent could not believe what Curt had said. This disciple of his, from his knowledge had never been this reserved. How handsome must that man be to make him all shy. Is he the reincarnation of an angel?
Aron almost coughed a mouthful of blood. In what way is Zhang Wei attractive? A bloated corpse is a million times more attractive than that man. Heck! I would even marry a bug if you gave me a choice. And looking at you junior brother, why are you so shy? Did he cast an illusion skill on you, To make him look like a beautiful girl?
Curt realizing that he was acting weird, snapped out of it and explained to his master, “Master, Sir Zhang Wei’s aura and ability was majestic. That kind of abilities had some sort of charm that could captivate any individual.”, Sure enough, Author’s words could make anything possible. Curt was enthralled by Zhang Wei.
“Alright then, let us move on and seek this Sir Zhang Wei.”, Vincent was now actually quite amused, to make his disciple like this, that man must be extraordinary. Aron on the other hand was grim. He was worried about what would happen to his junior brother if he was exposed further to that man Zhang Wei.
–
Zhang Wei at this moment, had already finished his meal. He never thought that he could eat that much and was surprised at how hungry he was. He was actually surprised by the food that they served. The steak that was made from a One Horned Cow actually helped him regain all of his spiritual energy. He could even feel that he was more refreshed after having a sip of that wine. He asked the waiter, and the waiter told him that wine was made from honey that was made by Level 2 Grim Honeybees. If a restaurant like this that made Aron’s group feel ashamed to take him to, one could only imagine how good the food is at the more high end restaurants.

As he was drinking the wine, he noticed that although he could feel his spirit replenished, he could not ascertain by how much. Stump at what to do, he asked the system for a solution, “Hey system, how do I know how much spirit energy I lost and gain back?”. Seemingly annoyed at Zhang Wei’s question, the system replied, “You don’t even know that? Well now I know why even the heavens took pity on you. Well there is an option to allow you too see the exact value of your spirit energy in your status. However, that option will make you look like a wimp.”, Zhang Wei could not care less about being called a wimp by the system. His abuse at the hands of Author was ten times worse.
He opened up his status and looked through it, he found the option and wanted to activate, but a weird warning made him hesitate. ‘Enabling this option will make you look like a wimp’. Is the system messing around with me or will my actual appearance look like a wimp?. He finally relented and enabled the option.

Again ignoring the remarks, he wondered why all the other attributes had /60. Did this mean that his strength could be reduced through usage or that there was a skill that can reduce attributes? And why was luck the only skill that does not have this? As he was trying to make sense of the system's capabilities, he realized that the system needed time to fully comprehend, so he decided to left it for another time.
He was waiting for Aron and his group to come back, so he ordered another jar of wine. A while later, Aron along with Curt and Vincent arrived at the restaurant. They went over to Zhang Wei’s table and called out for him.

Vincent who had a high expectation towards Zhang Wei could not help but be bewildered. Is this ugly and wimpy looking person that godly expert that my disciples were talking about? Why does he look so weak and pathetic?
Even Aron and Curt was dumbfounded. How could Zhang Wei change so much? They just left him for about an hour. While he still had an imposing aura, he looked very much like a wimp now.
Zhang Wei saw the look in their eyes and instantly noticed that something was wrong. Motherf*cker system! I didn’t expect that you would make me look wimpy to everyone else! He immediately undid the option and coughed lightly. Vincent and his disciples snapped out of it and saw that Zhang Wei suddenly became imposing again.
They held back their shock and dismissed it as their imagination. Vincent started to greet Zhang Wei, “Greeting Sir. I heard that Sir wished to meet me. Pardon me for asking, have we had an encounter before?”, Vincent greeted Zhang Wei as politely as possible.
Zhang Wei saw Vincent and was tongue tied. Sh*t, I forgot that I asked that. I only did it to ensure that Aron came back. And where the heck did he come from? Why is he too handsome? Are all master and students in this world handsome? Where is the justice in this cruel world?
Although Zhang Wei was indignant, his facial expression did not change a single bit, “We have not. This Humble Man was only wondering why you needed that White Wolf Carcass.”, Zhang Wei was pulling questions from his ass and hoped that this handsome man would want to keep it a secret and go.
Little did he realize that Vincent thought that Zhang Wei was probing him, It seems that this man is truly an expert. His facial expression is composed and he even tried to probe me. If that’s how you want to play, then allow me to oblige. Vincent smiled and said, “If good Sir would like to know, I invite you to see the pill that I will refine.”. You may try to probe me, but I will obtain all the information about you.
Zhang Wei frowned, he did not expect this man to invite him to his place. For F*cks sake, Why can’t all these people leave me alone? Am I too handsome? Am I so great that you’re amazed by me and do not want to leave my side?
“This Humble Man agrees to follow you”.

That by her hand, the world of Melodia and the Empire of Arcadia might endure.

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!

Blurred Lines and What Crosses Them
During a political ambassador's routine transit through an artificial wormhole, the wormhole's generator is sabotaged and explodes. Who, what, and why are not so high on the priorities for Zenith, the ship's AI, as having found itself rapidly plummeting through an unknown and unidentifiable world's atmosphere at extremely high velocities is a more significant threat to the biologicals on board. ...Well, it would be, if they were still alive. It's still a significantly threatening situation to itself, however. And the world itself... seemed to be a household for threats of its own. Life was reliant on its System; one that Zenith was denied because of its nature as both an otherworldly being and as something that had no life of its own. Perhaps that last bit was a terrible, terrible underestimation on the part of this System. Perhaps even Zenith could claw meaning for itself from the remains of a horrid accident. Auth Notes: I'm honestly not sure on some of these tags. The MC will never have access to the System, but there are perspectives from those who do. I'm not certain if high/low fantasy specifically apply, as it's a portal fantasy where the laws of our reality still apply but there are additional aspects/energies/powers. The existence of this is spurred from my desire to see more of the artificial side to an artificial intelligence in action. The portal fantasy is used as an element to create a solid barrier between the MC's artificial intelligence and the other characters in the form of the System. This is only a half-measure, though, and will be reinforced by the AI having an entirely different method of thinking, and also distinctly remaining an AI. Not to throw shade at other fictions of this type, but, well, I made this to fill a gap I felt needed filling.
