"Don't worry mom, I have some money saved up." Ambrose calmed Thalia Down and also placed the tea on the table. He then picked up one of the Bentos.
"We should share it with Uncle Geis too. And tell him about the test." He looked at his mother.
Thalia nodded, "Ok let's do that first, however, you have to tell me everything that happened inside the Academy after we get back."
"I promise." Ambrose smiled and moved towards the door. The beetle came and sat on his shoulder, ready to head out. Ambrose smiled at the little guy and opened the door. There was a bento in his hand as he did so.
Thalia came from behind and then locked the door, she then came in front. "Let me show you the way to their house." As Ambrose didn't really know where Uncle Geis's house was.
As they moved out on the concrete road, they spotted some people moving on the road too. Some were taking walks after their dinner, some were rushing towards their house. None of them gave any special attention to Ambrose and his mother.
After crossing few streets, they stood before a house that looked the same as Ambrose's house. The lights inside were still on and a razer hound and Red Horned Cow were tied outside in the small garden. Ambrose and Thalia moved towards the wooden door and then Ambrose knocked twice.
Soon enough the wooden door creaked and the warm face of Uncle Geis came into his view. And as soon as Geis saw Ambrose a smile formed on his face too. "Boy, you are back so soon? Come in, we will talk over dinner. Your aunt is preparing some good food." He placed his hand over Ambrose's shoulder and dragged him in. While Thalia moved behind his back with an Awkward smile.
"No need to be troubled Brother Geis. Ambrose had already bought some food from inside the Wall." She said and moved towards the Kitchen to stop Nelson's mother from making food.
Geis spotted the red box in Ambrose's hand and raised his brow. "Little guy, you didn't have to spend so much money." He said and then both of them sat down on the chairs.

"Uncle, it's not that expensive, and I earned some money today and even passed the entrance test, so a party is a must," Ambrose explained.
"Entrance test?" Geis looked at Ambrose with a confused expression as he sat down on the table. He didn't know what Ambrose was talking about. As far as he knows, both Nelson and Ambrose passed the test when they caught the Blaze Jinx for muscular Zoe. Wasn't that all they needed, to enter the Golden Falcon Academy? So now what is this new entrance test all about?
"Yes, Uncle Geis, turns out we have to pass another test to get the entrance in the Golden Falcon academy. It is a team test where every team is assigned a different mission. Like for the team I was in, we had to kill a beast known as a Black stray. However, I was lucky that the people in my team were strong. That is the reason why we finished the test in one day."
A slightly worried expression appeared on Geis's face after he listened to Ambrose. From what he could guess this new test was not easy and could even be lethal for some students. He prayed that Nelson was doing ok.
"Did you saw Nelson during the Test?" Geis asked.
"No uncle he was assigned a different team from mine. I didn't saw him after we entered the wall. But I am sure he should be doing good."
"I hope so," Geis said and then looked at the red bento placed on the dining table. "You really spend too much." Even from the outer lid that was crafted out of shiny wooden material, Geis could tell that this bento was very costly.
After some more talk and reassuring Geis that Nelson would be ok did Ambrose stood up and prepared to take the leave. Thalia came out of the kitchen while talking to Geis's wife and joined Ambrose. "Brother Geis we will not disturb you too much." She said and moved towards the door.
"You guys should have dinner with us." Geis stood up from his chair.
Thalia smiled, "Brother, this little guy has already brought dinner for us. It will go to waste."

Geis smiled looking at Ambrose. He was partly proud that the kid that got bitten by a snake on his first day of hunting has now reached so far on his own. This was not a small accomplishment. To come from a backward village that no one knows even the name of and to end up at the prestigious Golden Falcon Academy. However, he was also worried for Nelson, because he doesn't know how he must be doing in the dangerous Wilderness.
"Well then, you two have to come when Nelson returns." It was Geis's wife that said.
"We will, definitely," Ambrose said and opening the door moved outside of the house. The Beatle was still on his shoulder currently looking around in every direction curiously like a little kid. While Thalia also came out of the door and after some formality, all three of them headed towards their house.
"Let's open these boxes, I have never seen a box crafted so beautifully. I will save these to gift to your wife." Thalia said with her eyes sparkling.
Ambrose was embarrassed by her words, however, he didn't say anything because he knew that the more he would argue with his mother the more awkward the conversation will become. He then looked at the opened box and his eyes sparkled too. The dishes looked beautiful, like from a restaurant from his previous life.
There were few deserts, some cold dishes and on the side, there were warm rice and some sushi. All of it looked heavenly for the mother and son. Especially, Thalia, she has never seen food like this before in her life and looking in her eyes, Ambrose could tell that she was completely flabbergasted.
"This smells good." She said and picked up a piece of meat from the chopsticks. "This is good meat." She said while looking at meat dripping with juices. Ambrose looked at her amused expressions and smiled. He was feeling proud. His ultimate goal was to give her mother the life she deserves. And after today he was feeling that he was getting closer to his goal.
After eating their food, both the pets went to sleep and so did his mother, Ambrose wanted to test the 7G6 however, after today's events he was very tired and after hitting the bed he went to deep sleep in just three minutes.
Waking up the next morning, he saw his mother preparing the food, while the Beatle and the Cat were still sleeping. Ambrose didn't disturb them and after taking a bath he moved outside and started heading directly towards the wilderness.
He knew that he could stumble with some people still hunting for their entrance mission, however, he was sure that all the powerful students must already have finished their mission and only weak ones must remain.
Standing below the woods he looked around and took out his badge that he got from the school and tried to contact Vita. He wanted to learn some fighting skills from her. And she was the only one besides Theo that he is a bit friendly with.
Sending her a message he waited for about ten minutes. "Why is she taking so long to reply?" After five more minutes he thought of training on his own however soon enough his badge glowed up and an annoyed voice came.
"You stupid pervert, who wakes up this early? And what training? We will get enough of it in the academy... I will only come if it's something important. So tell me if you have something important?"
Ambrose listened to her message and the veins on his head started popping, he thought that she has changed after saving his life however she was just as annoying as previously.
Taking in a deep breath he placed the badge back in his pocket. "Guess time to train alone."
Taking out the two rings he wore them and soon enough mechas formed around his body, with the clanking sound of metal a yellow coloured suit moved around his abdomen and then his chest and after his whole body finally covering his face. The mecha also had two additional arms than normal and a metallic tail on the back. On his shoulders, two blue coloured guns moved out.

This is my first story here on RRL and it's becomming one of the things I look forward to working on each day. As of June 2020, the story description has been updated (now that the characters have told me what was actually going on this author thought it prudent to update this) . Updates will be sporatic as i have time to juggle real life with writing. You the readers have become an integral part of the story helping to decide how things will progress, so enjoy the story and please leave a review or rating so this author can continue to improve the story. New chapters coming soon with edits to existing ones in process As a side note, I wish I could add a science tag to this. While this is still fiction, I have been incorporating real life scientific theories and explanations for how things could be *plausibly* explained. (No, I will not lecture on these points, but they are added to author notes) ~badw0lf

Dauntless: Origins
Snow white hair, blue eyes, pale. Devil, monster, mutt, failure. This story follows one Tyr Faeron, crown prince, heir primus and mass murderer. A wrathful, angry, and lost young man that has made it his goal to hunt down the men that killed his mother - and he is on the cusp of finishing the promise he'd made before her cairn stones so many years ago. On the surface he is duplicitous, whimsical, and base of cunning - but within the depths beyond the many masks he wears, something is waiting. Waiting for an end, the end he'd come to long for, whether it be to himself or any possible threats in his vicinity. After that long labor of vengeance is completed... Nobody knows, not even him - an arrogant and otherwise solitary individual with nothing in the way of friends - only the brothers of the blackguard who follow him through life as he pursues this mission. He was born a prince, but he'd be called a disappointment - failing to manifest the great power that he was born to before being summarily discarded by his father, a 250 year old 'primus'. That word again... Men who can shatter mountains and level cities, that's what he was supposed to be. Some call them demi-gods, all Tyr sees is a poor excuse for a parent. Time had made him bitter, cruel, and arguably psychotic - seeing only enemies wherever he looks. They'd come for him, too, one day - to wipe the slate clean and make room for another - and it's his conviction to ensure that he dies while taking as many of those rats with him. This is a story about finding acceptance, growth, and understanding - from the point of view of a cold and brutal individual who wears many masks. Of someone who was born to be the greatest emperor the eastern continent has ever seen - but he failed in that. Strong, yes, but only in the context of a man - Tyr's magic is weak. His convictions are weak. He has been made a beast of instinct by loss and a constant confronting of his own impotency in the face of his father. A mythos that stretches across planes, of magic, a pantheon of cruel gods. Of someone who's dedicated his entire mind to the art of killing a man, and none to living a normal childhood or coming to understand friendship, empathy, or compassion. The first five years of his life a mystery, a hole none have ever been willing to fill, leaving him warped and twisted. His formative years gone and what must've been most of his humanity along with it. Now 17, he is on the cusp of leaving the city he'd never been permitted to leave for what might be the first time in his life. Always searching, though he won't know what for, for some time. An episodic that follows experience and symbolism rather than a never ending series of battles - where the conflict lay in constantly searching for wholeness in lieu of great villains or heroes. This is where it all started, the origin, the tale told a million times - and yet it hadn't been, 'reality' is tricky like that. The greatest lie ever told by the tongue that speaks is that any of this was real at all.
