《The Tentacle of Fate》Chapter 11: Literally Just Walking Down A Street

“Was that really okay?”

Trra turned around, “What’s okay?”

“What you just did, you just humiliated a Dragon and the gatekeeper to your Empire’s capital city at that.”

“It’s alright you heard the man, I’m the heir to the Succubus Clan, the bearers of the Sin of Lust who eternally walk the path of debauchery.”

“Isn’t that worse? I mean isn’t the main reason those Dragons are standing watch over the gates is to show off the state's power? And as a representative or I suppose as an important official standing directly under the state, to humiliate one of those Dragons would be akin to directly humiliating the state.”

Trra laughed, “A dragon representing the state? The Emperor? As if! Girlie remember this, you aren’t in the Human Realm continent anymore. If you think a Dragon is strong enough to represent the Emperor then you’re sorely mistaken. You, Humans, underestimate our Empire far too much.”

Dewl laughed, “Indeed.”

Lucia sighed and then asked, “Anyway, where are we heading?”

Trra turned around, “Well I’m heading to the Eastern District, there’s a little business I need to take care of.”

Aila turned around as well, “I’ll be meeting with an old friend.”

“Wait then what am I supposed to do?”

The two of them paused and then turned to Lucia and said,““Hell if I know””

Aila instantly disappeared, while Trra flew up and laughed, “Don’t worry, somethings bad is bound to happen eventually. You’re in the capital city after all!”

He immediately took off into the air and shot to the east leaving Lucia standing there in the middle of the crowded streets standing dumbfounded.

She looked to the east and then to the north, before smashing her fist into a nearby building causing it to shake violently before screaming, “You gotta be kidding me!”

Lucia hurriedly walked through the streets, her face flushed a crimson red as she quickly made her way to the center of the city. Dewl laughed, “You were fine with it earlier, what’s wrong now.”

Lucia quietly mumbled, “Well it was just us three, but now there are hundreds of people staring at me.”

“Then let them stare! Marvel at our beauty!”

Lucia couldn’t help but yell, “They aren’t staring at you!”

“Why on the contrary, those goblins sitting down on that chain over there above us a few minutes ago were ogling me for quite sometime. Clearly, they wanted to feel my soft and gentle exterior covering your supple chest.”

“And then there was that Orc about half an hour ago staring at beautifully crafted skintight suit perfectly highlighting the contours of your ass. Clearly thinking what a wonderful time they would have if they were to wear such exquisite living clothes.”

“Oh and did you see that brothel we passed by, it was several stories above the cafe with the Lycanthrope nervously waiting for his blind date. There was this fat old lady sitting by one of the windows advertising about their fresh new slaves when she noticed you walking by”

“She seemed to have an acute sense of smell and it's more than likely she was able to smell your sweet juices mixing with my own. There’s no way she wouldn’t want to put me on any one of her girls to attract customers.”

Lucia glared at Dewl and began pulling at her skintight bodysuit, “Why are there even brothels in the middle of nowhere. Don’t you guys have a red light district!?”

“Of course not, this is the Demon Empire’s capital city! The city one can indulge in every sin imaginable, well for the right price anyway.”

“Then how are you supposed to maintain order, without laws, without rules, without regulations then you won’t be able to maintain and establish a country let alone a functioning city.”

Dewl laughed heartily, “Laws? What are laws? They’re nothing but words scribble onto a piece of paper. It’s not the laws that matter it’s the thing that they stand for that count. Tell me, why do you think people fear the gate keepers.”

“Huh?”, Lucia turned her head, this was a completely meaningless question, “Because he’s a Dragon.”

“Then what if he wasn’t a Dragon, what if the gate keepers were those ordinary soldiers no strong than you crusaders. Do you think if that Dragon was reduced to a mere soldier that the gates will be reduced to nothing but anarchy? Of course not.”

“Naturally they fear those four Dragons, but perhaps to you, Humans Dragons are these supreme existences, but to us, they’re nothing but a slightly strong member of the same Empire. As we passed by that crowd that crowd of hundreds of thousands of people there was at least a thousand that could take on that Dragon.”

Lucia gasped in shock, “But Dragons are at the very least an A-Class Dangerous Monster. Even the weakest of them are at the least a B-Class Dangerous Monster.”

“Do you think an A-Class monster could take on a hundred thousand people? Let alone several hundred thousand people? Think about it, how many Human Knights do you need to kill a single Dragon? 10? 50? 100? At most 200?”

“Perhaps only some of the more powerful Dragons could even stand a chance at going up against those numbers. Yet those Dragons are able to sit up there on their high horse and stare down at all of us fearlessly, and I’m sure you know why.”

Lucia slowly nodded her head, and hesitantly spoke: “But without laws...without laws…”

Lucia shook her head, “You know what, I’m not going to get into an argument over politics with a tentacle monster who is violating me because there was some old lady in a brothel that was for some reason just randomly in the middle of the city.”

“Quitter.”

“Y-You shut up! Anyway, where is this building? We’ve been walking for who knows how long.”

“Nine hours, fifty-seven minutes, and thirty-three seconds. Oh and miss I don’t know what the word straight means, in more ways than one, it’s right in front of you. It probably wouldn’t have taken us literally the whole day if you had any sense of direction.”

“Well excuse me.”

“You're excused.”

“That’s not...whatever…”

Lucia looked up and saw a massive building before her with a small signed labeled, [Guild] plastered on a sign board covered in papers in front of it.

“So they really did have an Adventurer's Guild here huh…”

“Yes, we’re rather inclusive aren’t we.”

“Yeah, sure you are. Anyway, let’s head inside.”
