《Origin Point》A3: Chapter 35

AN: So~, last night I got an offer to be a DM (Dungeon Master) next week for my group. Of course I said yes, and it's going to be pulled from this story. Now I'm going to be writing up something for that, as well as for this. Trouble is, I LOVE being a dick in my stories, and the last campaign I ran was a second edition dungeon crawler. Course, after it was done, my group back then said to NEVER do another campaign again. Why? 'Cause I was a dick, and only the mage survived with an arm cut off. Then he died of blood loss after killing the last boss with a critical fireball to the face.
Should be fun, right?
As per usual, thank you all for reading thus far. If you have any questions, comments, or cocnerns, please do not hesitate to voice them.

Yes. The slaying of a Demon King is one of the most common quests given out to those who would be the worlds' heroes. More so upon the worlds of Azzarath's Pantheon than our own. For the mantle of a Demon Lord falls upon a random minour god of our realm, of whom is allotted various powers to wield against those who desire to end the reign of one such as they. We have even made an event out of it, as you all know well.
In any case, Brutus and I had become quite annoyed by such requests to the point that we turned to helping said Lords with their problems. This would be no different, as we do not care much for the Humans who summoned us to attack the other. However, it was probably be best to not speak of such thoughts whilst the others begrudgingly accepted the quest.
When the greedy King came to Brutus, he stopped for a time as the beady eyes within the Human's skull ran over the armour of my Lich King. These pair only paused upon the crown atop his head, as well as upon my sword body. Once he did this last one, my own slitted, golden eye swiveled in place for a time before becoming fixated upon the other. This caused the Human to shake, as my own silvered energies slowly leaked from my pommel and onto the floor.
This was so, as I desired to conjure up a small illusion of my skeletal self's visage which then flew into the King's face. Of which caused him to stagger backwards until his body fell to the floor. "My Lord," cried out a few of the guards standing by. They then rushed to their liege, as Brutus's right, taloned hand pointed towards the group and barked a single word, ">!"
Five bolts of endarkened energy rushed out of the Lich King's extended talons, striking King Samiah, LD, RS, and two other guards in the torso or abdomen. Of which was followed by a snap of his talons. This was so, as the energies of each bolt was used to not only kill the body, but the essences within as well. Whereas the snapping of his taloned fingers was to enact the second portion of the spell. In that five spirits, two wendigos and three banshees, rose out of his body and leapt into the five before us.

These bodies then convulsed greatly as the spirits devoured the internal organs, blood, and bone until only the skin remained. Of which they each wore, and if one were to give only a cursory glance, then they would not find anything amiss. That is, until they looked closer. For upon the bodies were marks of skin stretched taught over unfamiliar bone structure. Such as a Wendigo, which is bestial, or a Banshee, which is feminine.
"What is going on?" cried out the only Elf in the space, as he drew out his daggers whilst searching for an exit. Of whom held the appearance of the standard High Elf, with long, platinum blonde hair and crystalline blue eyes. This one wore a hooded outfit of leather and chain in the pattern of oak leaves, and held a few belt pouches along the waist.
"Why'd you kill the Human?" asked a female, red-skinned demon. Of whom had a pair of horns growing from a few centimetres above her forehead, and back behind her skull. What is more, her facial features were of a soft noblewoman's, but was marred by a long cars which ran across the bridge of her nose. The female's chest, however, was much like the other pair's, non-existent.
To say that they were flat would be a misinterpretation. For she had nothing upon her chest; nothing to indicate she was feminine, unless you took the time to understand their race as a whole. One way to tell them apart was their horns, as the male's were thicker around the base than the female's, and pointed up at the end.
Below the waist, however, was that of a goat's hind legs. Yes. It was furred, and included a pair of hooves for feet. Not to mention the fact that each had a serpent-like tail that ended in a myriad of spiked shapes, and each wielded a three pronged trident wherever they went.
In any case, the female had made her way towards the Lich King with a slow pace until she was standing in front of his person. Who then repeated the question once more, whilst the male stood back as the rest of the group looked on with a myriad of expressions upon their features.
"The Humans are a detestable race," growled Brutus, whose voice was slightly muffled by the face plate, "They do not deserve anything beyond death."
"Perhaps, but why kill their King? Aren't you worried about the repercussions?" Her voice was soothing, seductive, as I noted that the words were coated in a sickly sweet energy. This was probably used to allow the female to control any and all she set her sights upon. However, as a true Undead, Brutus had a near full immunity of such magicks, which was further increased the moment he became a King.
"No," his voice growled as my golden eye flared with anger once I noted the energies being used upon my servant. This was then portrayed to his mental self, who growled and raised up my sword body. Of course, the female noted such happenings, and leapt back to avoid any sort of strikes directed towards her body.

"Defend the Mistress," cried out the male pair, who leapt in front of her person and intoned their spells of fire. Unfortunately for them, they had forgotten that there was a pair of Wendigos and a trio of Banshees. Of whom charged the pair with hunger-laced howls and screams.
The pair took note of this at the last moment, and launched their magicks towards LD and RS, of whom were Wendigos in disguise. Whereas the Banshees, in the guise of the King and two random guards, attacked the female Demon. Which then led to the false King's head to roll off just as the temples' doors opened up to reveal a small squad of Human guards. To which I shared a mental grin with Brutus.
For this little scuffle was making quite a bit of noise, and as the King of the country was within the area, these others had to rush in. Thus, they saw their liege lord, of whom was already dead, fall to the ground without its head. Of course, they did not see the beginning, in which Brutus had already killed him, but that would not matter in the least. As they had now, essentially, turned on those who would have been our allies in this event.
As to what had happened? Well, the guards themselves were stunned as they watched the headless corpse of King Samiah the Greedy fall upon the ground. No blood spurted from the wound, as it had already been eaten by the Banshee which had possessed the body moments before. Which was then followed by a gout of flame from a grinning male Demon who appeared to be enjoying his work.
Of course, the other Undead servants' bodies weren't fairing well either, as each were torched after the bodies had been skewered in varying degrees. This was followed up by great wails from the Banshees, as they each were destroyed by the fires of the creatures they fought. Whereas the Wendigos fled back into the body of Brutus in order to lick their wounds until such a time that they are needed once more.
"They killed your king," cried out Brutus, who was directed by my person, and pointed towards the now confused red-skinned Demons, "They had conspired together in order to help the Demon Lord, as they are Demons themselves."
"What?" cried out the female, as the guards quickly entered the room, but were still stunned as to what they had witnessed. However, more was being summoned, as the news of the death of King Samiah traveled quickly, and each desired to slay the ones who committed such a deed. "We're not Demons."
"Yes they are," called out one of the Hobgoblins, of whom had a mischievous grin upon its features, "Sure, they're not your demons, but these ones are the same on another world."
"Not to mention they serve their own Demon Lord who has run amok and killed off many Humans. So it's no wonder they would kill your leader, because they might get a promotion for doing so." This came from the other violet skinned Hobgoblin, who also grinned in the same manner as the former. Of course, this pair were simply there to "stir the pot" as the saying goes. This means to cause more trouble, which would allow us to progress further without needing to turn to a more violent action.
This then led to the gathered Humans to surge forward, as the trio prepared their spells of fire in order to escape from the area. This meant, to the minds of the Humans, at least, that they were guilty of what they had been accused of. As such, they each howled out the name of their fallen King, and charged towards the trident wielding Demons. Of whom widened their eyes as the blades rose high above their heads, and fell with enough force to paint the nearby wall with their crimson blood.
Whereas Brutus and I simply watched with bemusement within our eyes until that which was within all Undead stole it away. Which then caused my person to recall something, and addressed my Lich King with, 'Do you remember RS and LD, Brutus?'
"Yes I do, My Lord God," he spoke softly as one of the Demons' heads flew over the guards' bodies. Of which then skidded across the floor and rested near his person, who then used an insignificant amount of energy to disintegrate it. "Why?"
'RS always wore red, whilst LD wore only white.'
"Yes, but what does that-?" he paused for a time as his mind recalled who it was that entered the space they shared with the rest of the summoned beings. Within moment the Lich King remembered who they were, and groaned from his mistake, "Forgive me, My Lord God. I did not realise who they were at the time."
'Do not worry too much about it, Brutus, as this is your turn upon Terra and not my own. Which means, my dear Lich King, you do not have to worry about small mistakes as this. So do as you will, whilst I simply watch from the sidelines.'

He's a rock drummer, and his language is that of a rock drummer: slanged, duded, and frequently laced with profanity. He focuses on music, and makes decisions that even the author doesn't approve of. However, that means all his decisions are Kevin's decisions, not those of a system-optimizing power-gamer. There's points (All of Arc 2) where he wanders aimlessly. Goals seem foreign to him at points. What would you do if you were a musician, and the world fell apart and you no longer had an audience or band-mates. You'd be kinda lost. Kevin is. Arc 2 is a lot of Kevin not knowing what to do, going with the flow, and not being articulate enough to know that he doesn't know what to do. 1.
