A sigh was exuded from the area around the portals in which the Dwarves had entered from. This was followed by a metallic, four-armed Bear Beastman who wore a simple robe whose colour was of freshly fallen snow. Upon stepping away from this portal came a cadre of four-arm iron skeletons with the shape of Humans; each holding a torch of emerald flame high above their heads.
These individuals watched as the small army of Kitsunes, Dwarves, and Demons rushed away from the area to begin the slaughter of the remnants of the city. Whereas they simply moved slowly throughout the area, treating those of whom were caught up mistakenly during such a purge. For their task was to take care of the injured, innocent children and their families, before resuming whatever it was they were to do before all of this occurred.
"Ah," sighed the Beastman once more, as he bade a child to drink from a flask containing a blood red potion used for healing, "Even though we should be enjoying the fact that we've returned home, we cannot." This led to him sighing a third time, and hung his head downwards just as the world shook from the monstrous skeleton's rampage.
Of whom had doubled in size and was unleashing a barrage of dark spears upon the camp outside the city's gates. Whereas those who were deemed an enemy continued to pelt the creature with stones coated in alchemical or magickal flames. Which then latched onto the bones of the creature who would simply brush it away before returning fire with those dark spears it had conjured.
These spears, by the by, was a spell called "Lance of Darkness", and was one of many first level spells in which a Death Knight would use to strike out against their foes. This was what the giant used, instead of any other spell. For it was simply a distraction, as the true aim for this was to keep their attention upon it, whilst a squad consisting of Demons and Kitsunes rushed inwards and towards those of whom were deemed the commanders and generals.
They were not difficult to find, by the by, which had caused the Kitsunes to pout at the lack of a challenge. Even more so when they died rather easily from a well placed explosive, which landed atop a table containing a detailed map of the surrounding area. This, along with detailed reports of the positions of every squad within their command, as well as the giant's position, was what kept most of the army from running.
Now? Now there was a large explosion from within the tent, as an alchemical bomb was tossed upon their table. To which many would claim these commanders and generals stared at it with interest, before one of them decided to touch the object just as it exploded into shards of deadly metal. This caused their bodies to fly several metres in every direction, as said shards tore into their bodies. Nearly all were confirmed dead, as their limbs and heads had been sent off in different directions of their torsos.

This left much of the army in disarray, as their main command was killed off, and were left without any active orders. To which many took this chance to run... straight into the axes of the Dwarves who were waiting for them upon the outskirts of their camp. Of which led to a more desperate battle between them, as well as to more casualties. Whereas the Dwarves only suffered from a few minour aches and pains due to negligence or over achievements.
In any case, once it became apparent that the army was dissolving into chaos, did the creature stop its assault and prepared its breath attack. Of which consisted of its upper torso to slowly bend backwards as though inhaling a great breath of air, whilst those who were not part of the herd mentality of Fear bore witness to a great collection of noxious fumes steadily rising towards the sky above. This action then caused the Dwarves, Kitsunes, and Demons to flee from the scene, leaving the remnants of the army bewildered as a great roar from the giant shook the world around their persons.
This was so, as the creature leaned forwards slowly, releasing its breath in a great arc before it. Whereupon all who were near such a breath liquefied instantaneously. So great and terrible was this weapon that it left nary a survivor, and even went as far as to create pustules and boils upon the earth itself.
To which the giant slowly shrank in on itself, until it was the size of an overbearing Human of two metres. This then shrank further, as muscle, sinew, organs, and flesh quickly rippled across the bones until it gave off the appearance of a Wolf-kin male with red furred ears and tail, as well as a mane of silvered hair. What is more, a pair of scarlet trousers wrapped itself around the waist and legs of the Kin, who then simply stared upon the scene with apathy, just as the world around them was leached of all colour.
What followed after was a large group of red letters the colour of bright blood, which read:

The world had faded to white soon afterwards, and transported our persons into darkness. Whereupon we stood in front of a long desk with thirteen scarlet robed individuals with hoods covering their facial features. Of course, they could not discern my person from the mass, as there was a multitude of disgruntled Humans, Halflings, and Kin. Of which had an assortment of armaments about themselves, and was not at all amused by the transportation of their persons to this endarkened room.
"What happened?" cried out a few voices, which was echoed as they turned towards the robed creatures.
"Yeah, what happened? I was about to nail a hot babe." This came from a muscular blonde male wearing only small clothes.
"Dude," muttered another, "That was a dude, not a babe."
"No it wasn't," the other's face was covered in sweat at this point, as many others simply turned towards his person with affirmation that he was about to perform intercourse with another male. "Oh God, oh God," he murmured to himself, crouching low with widened eyes as his hands laced together and were placed atop his head.

"Pitiful," muttered Brutus, who would sneer at such a sight if he had skin about his skull. Instead, the Lich continued to watch, whereas I simply wondered about the elderly Human and the children who had escaped through the portals I had opened to allow the Dwarves, Kitsune, and Demons entry into our world of Terra. All the while, the gathering had turned their attention towards Roj and his, as he spoke of their deeds and thank them for their efforts.
This led to his wondering who among us was fortunate to kill the Usurper King without accepting the quest to do so. To this, many simply stared about themselves, not at all sure how such a thing came about.
"Truly?" called out Roj, of whom was not at all sure how to proceed, as he had received information about one of these summoned individuals performing the deed of slaying the Usurper.
This led to my person striding forwards, as my body slowly warped itself, stretching, distending, growing larger. All these things and more, until a resounding pop called all eyes to turn in my general direction. Of which caused the whole of them to scream with surprise, as their own bodies scrambled away from my presence. For I had become my skeletal self, which allowed my servants and Undying to situate themselves about my person with grins and sneers as the Tribunal visibly shook.
"No," they whispered, desperately pleading to the gathered others for help, "Please. Not this."
"You should rejoice in your demise," spoke Sia, whose skeletal body held up the head of a minotaur. Of which caused the whole of the Tribunal to turn towards the end of the row to their left, where their companion's body had now fallen upon the ground with a muffled thump.
"For you now stand in the presence of our Lord High God," this statement was brought on by Brutus, who held up the struggling body of the only female amongst their number. Yes. The Halfling, as it is she who contains all of the knowledge obtained by those who stand before her and the rest of the Tribunal.
To which she was given over to my person so that I may drain her of everything learned since the last time we had visited them. The female, of course, screamed greatly whilst my servants whooped and hollered, whereas all others simply desired to know where the nearest exit was. However, such a thing was currently blocked off by the servants I had summoned to Terra, so that all may witness the ire of a God.
"Roj," my voice was full of mocking joy, whilst the female screamed for help with my right, primary claw, "You seem well. How have you been?" This query of mine was punctured by the fact that the Halfling's voice rose to a higher pitch. For my chaotic magicks electrified her body, whilst they tore into her mind to rip away everything which was hidden away within. This then led to complete silence, as her screams simply stopped, whilst an orb of silvery mist congealed above her forehead before slowly drifting towards my own. Whereupon it did enter my skull, filling my mind with new information pertaining to the worlds already visited and explored, ideas for weapons, armour, and so much more.
"Ah," my voice was a pleasant sigh, as my grip around the catatonic Halfling slowly enclosed itself upon her body. To which there was another audible pop, as the body's head flew towards Roj and his Tribunal of Fools. This landed against a translucent, golden shield with a wet slap of bloodied flesh.
"Brutus," my Lich turned towards my person with great curiosity, "We should make this a sport."
"Make what a sport, My Lord God?"
"The squeezing of small bodies until their heads fly off. We should see about making it a sport, and perhaps have the Demons of Gluttony participate. For they would enjoy the small feast we provide as we enjoy ourselves."
"Consider it done, My Lord God," to which he pulled out a sheet of parchment and writing utensil from his own Void Space, before hastily writing my idea.
"Now then, Roj," the Tribunal member snapped to attention as the bloodied remains of the Halfling fell to the ground, "You have not answered my query. How have you been?"
The other, whose head was hidden amongst the shadows of his cowl, opened his small maw slowly to respond. However, instead of a voice to answer my person, what greeted our eyes was half a metre of iron. This led to him gagging as his eyes widened from the blade's protrusion from the back of his neck, and out of his maw. Of which knocked quite a few teeth loose, as blood with violet hues streaked out of the shadows of said cowl, and onto the chest of one such as he.
"Not fast enough, Roj," my voice switched from pleasant to apathetic. For the Tribunal members were now being slaughtered by a large group of desperate Humans, Halflings, and Kin. Of whom were told by Sia and a few Kitsune that if they did not kill the Tribunal members, they would be allowed to live after I was finished speaking with them.
This group, of course, believed their words. For they were frightened beyond words, and so desperately craved a release from my presence. Which led to the muscular Human with blonde hair to strike out at Roj first. Yes. This was the same one who was about to perform intercourse with another male, as he was promised that such a thing will be removed from the minds of others afterwards.
As these individuals set about to slaughtering the Tribunal members, an echoing laughter of a small child filled the air around us. Which was then followed by the words of, "Good. Good."

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
