《Origin Point》A2 Chapter 21

AN: The beginning of this one may confuse a few people, so allow me to explain. Anytime there is a strange word with a 'V' in it, it makes a 'W' sound. Only reason for this is because it's Latin, and I like it.
As always folks, thank you for reading thus far. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to voice them.

"Wendy?" She asked, tilting her head towards her right shoulder.
"No, little one," my own voice was calm and filled with a bemusement at such a name for myself, "Weh-nee. Can you perhaps say this?"
"Weh-ndee," her small voice rolled the unfamiliar word within her small maw of blunted teeth. From my own perspective, it seems they were purposefully ground down for some odd reason. Perhaps it was to keep her from tearing into the flesh of those who would come near such an adorable, scaled creature. To this end, I sighed with a small smile and pat her head softly. To which she giggled, then stared with widened eyes at something upon my left shoulder. A noise ensued close to my non-existent ear, which sounded in combination of a small growl and an annoyed groan.
"Shoriin," my voice rumbled softly, as my own tail gently wrapped itself around the small basilisk, and placed it into my free clawed hand. Whereupon it glared into my own eyes with a pout about its features. Within my own mind, however, it sulked with a look of, "you forgot about me". Of which I simply pat its small head, then introduced the pair to one another. This, in turn, caused the girl-child to squeal with delight, and hug the other close to her chest. My voice erupted into a chuckle, as the basilisk tried to escape, but could not. When it finally acknowledged its futile attempt to escape, its voice filled the air about us with a pitiful moan of resignation.
My eyes then tore away from such a scene, and towards the screams of the dying far below. Blood ran through the streets, as males and females of varying ages ran from the large horde of skeletons with glowing eyes of various colours. Each of these creatures were coated in the blood of the fallen, whilst some had decorated their bones with the heads and entrails of those they had slain. Why they did such a thing was beyond my person, but they continued to advance towards a fairly sizable building which had been boarded up to slow their advance.
However, all of those of whom had a mote of cold fire about their persons were ignored, which seemed to frighten them even more so. Perhaps they believed such creatures would return for them once all had been slain. On the other hand, they seemed elated when the large, metallic dragons called Suun swooped down in rescuing of their persons from such a place. Many had cried out with voices of relief and joy, as its body landed next to their own and commanded them to climb upon his person, or cling to his own with all their might. These creature would then do so as it launched itself high into the heavens, before depositing them upon the outskirts of the nearby forest. Whereupon these individuals would be met with my servants to either usher them to a larger group, slay them on the spot, or detain them until I came to judge their persons for whatever may be the reason.

The pair within my arms were startled as my body shifted itself towards the forest, whereupon it sped off with such a great speed as we arrived within mere heartbeats from my original position. "Too fast," I muttered, as the Dragonock and basilisk appeared to be dizzy from the sudden movements.
"Siuun?" Cried out a tall female Draconian with patterned scales of gold and pink scattered about her body. This one had appeared before my person quite suddenly, and with a fearful expression about her eyes. Of which allowed my own to see that she had indeed suffered greatly in her time of captivity.
Yes, nearly all of the Draconians and Dragonocks taken from the city once called Freeport were indeed slaves or servants of some sort. Most, if not all, of the females were abused in some great way. For you see, these two species cannot reproduce with anyone, except for their own races. In other words, they were used primarily to satisfy the males who had such great carnal desires, but did not wish for any sort of bastard children. Thus, they were highly sought after by many, especially those of whom belong to the "nobleman" category.
As to the males, no, they cannot impregnate a female not of their race. Therefore, much like the females, they were highly sought after by those who desired relief, but without the dangers of becoming pregnant. Which is one of the main reasons why their race had become enslaved in the first place. Whereas the second was because of a war nearly a full century ago, of which caused them to serve nearly all races upon this world of Azara.
No. I did not learn of this at this time, but of the time when I had drained the Dragonock of its memories and abilities in the beginning days of our desire for conquest of this world. However, I did not believe such memories at the time, until I came upon these wretched creatures before me. Yes, I was enraged, but did not allow others to see such emotions. Not yet, anyways.
"Mama," cried out Siuun, who squirmed out of my arms and rushed into the female's who had called out to her.
Of course, the scene was touching, but my attention was diverted elsewhere, as my Undying directed my person towards those of whom were not draconic in any way. Most of whom were of the mouse-kin and beastman race, whilst the rest seemed to be conjurers who had taken advantage of what had occurred to ensure their own survival. Each of whom were tied up and gagged, whereas a few had been slain due to their unwillingness to cooperate.

"Hmm," I hummed, scanning the small crowd of nearly twenty tied up individuals before my person, "Are there any of interest?" I asked my servants who had saluted and knelt before my self as I came upon them.
"There are two which are able to paralyse another with a simple glance," spoke up Val'ruum, "They were difficult to subdue, as they continued to perform such acts in concert with one another."
"Interesting," my lips stretched themselves into a small smile, as I ordered them to bring these two before my person. At once, the twins and a female Undying did so, dragging a pair of struggling, small creatures who were bound, gagged, and blindfolded. "What are you?" My voice rumbled, as the pair was lifted by my will alone.
These two were of great interest, it seemed, as their forms seemed to be a cross between some sort of brown furred bear, and a basilisk. However, the pair wore the robes of a conjurer, and seemed to be able to create words. As their muffled voices beneath their gags gave way to such a suggestion. It was truly strange, and I had the desire of making them part of my collection of servants. In which case, both of my clawed hands gripped their small heads, as I intoned my Enthrallment spells.
Before the casting of such spells, the pair of unknown creatures before my person had struggled greatly against their physical and ethereal bonds. Now, however, they had ceased in their movements, becoming docile as I removed their physical bindings. What greeted my eyes caused my person to become curious, as their features appeared to be human in origin, yet their eyes appeared to mimic the eyes of a basilisk. Truly, they were strange creatures, but now they were mine to do with as I saw fit.
Of course, a few within the group before us screamed out muffled noises from beneath their gags, and turned their hateful gazes upon my person once they noticed the pair of unknown creatures calling my self "Master". However, they did not concern my mind in the least, as I turned to face them all and pose a simple statement, "Serve me, or die. You have only those two choices, and nothing more."
To be fair, one of the conjurers had released themselves from their bindings, and cast an unknown spell towards my person before anyone was able to react. This led to my voice echoing with laughter throughout the land, as I appeared next to this individual, gripped the back of its neck with one claw, whilst the other was upon its left shoulder. Whereupon I did pull with a great force, causing its head and spine to separate from its body. Of which had fallen upon a few others, spurting a great river of crimson upon those of whom had not escaped in time. Whereas the head of my victim moved its jaw up and down for a time, before growing still as its essence fled from its dead body.
This scene caused many to fall over unconscious, whilst a few Draconians and Dragonocks who had witnessed such a spectacle tried to flee from the area. They were eventually brought back by the twins, as I did not wish to have them spreading my tales of brutality throughout the land just yet. However, my magicks then took effect, swirling about the spine and head within my grasp. These magicks were of shadows and emerald energies, as they cleaned and reshaped the bones into a solid staff with a pair of glowing, emerald orbs within the sockets of the skull.
This skull was then pointed towards the body of the fallen conjurer, whereupon it opened its maw and breathed out a gust of acidic breath. This caused the body to melt slowly until it was naught, but a puddle upon the ground. Of which then seeped into the earth, boring small holes until all of the acid vanished completely. However, even though the acid was gone, the ravaged earth which held the puddle still remained, as did the memories of such a scene.
"So?" I called out to those still bound and gagged, "What will it be? Will you serve my person until the end of days, or will you die as the other had?"

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

Voidsong (A NaNoWriMo 2018 winner)
Synopsys: The Empire thought humanity died, and forgot all about it. The Empire is mistaken. A Note From the Author: This story was written as a National Novel Writing Month 2018 entrant. As such, its entire 50,000+ word length was written between November 1, 2018 and November 31, 2018. Overall, I would consider this no more than a polished draft. In that vein, the chapters have no names, only numbers. Special thanks to Chronus on youtube for answering my questions on NATO radio procedures! My Apologies to the Finnish Language, which I have abused in (probably) unforgivable ways to create Twisted Empire names. If anyone is interested, break the names up by commas and toss them into your favorite translation program (I used Google Translate, and tried to avoid umlauts and other accents) for some semi bilingual boni. If I got something wrong (and I know I did… somewhere…) let me know over on reddit and I will see what I can do to fix the mistake. Lyrics, where included, are cited in footnotes.
