-Why is Doraig so Weak at the start?

Answer:

Because he was recognized as a new race, and thus had to start from the beginning. He wasn't that weak before jumping, but he wasn't the 'world's strongest' either

-The scales, why are they so useless?

Answer:

Same reason as above. Also, Something that nobody has told Doraig yet is the fact that there are skills that make use of the scales, but Doraig didn't think of them. Think of Pokemon's 'Harden' skill. Metapod has a hard skin, yet he still receives high damage unless he uses the 'Harden' skill

For chapter 13, in an attempt to have the action scenes make sense, I went outside the house with a wooden spoon at ~3 A.M in the morning and began to swing the spoon around while trying to create a plausible move set to be used inside the story— and well, after going at it for 30 or so minutes I realized my neighbour had been watching intently at me since the start. yes, it was awkward.
