《To Deify a Deity》Chapter 11 - Prelude to War

Lynefra woke up in a cold sweat next to her sister. She felt different than before her "special" meeting with Veorful and her...son? She felt like she was more than before but at the same time had a feeling of loss. She glanced over at her sleeping sister. 'Yuck,' Lynefra through as she wiped her sister's drool off her shoulder, then she returned to her troubled thoughts. She was fairly certain she hadn't dreamt of going to the immaterial white world, but what followed terrified her. 'Freyd,' Lynefra thought to herself in alarm. Lynefra jumped out of bed and almost hit her head on the ceiling. She paid no mind to her abrupt increase in physical strength, she had more important things to think about.

Lynefra quickly put on the clothes she received from Kuzunoha and Lystall, she had nothing else to wear in her sister's room. Puzzled, Lynefra noticed it was still dark outside and the window had been fixed, she clearly remembered Michael breaking the window in his somewhat dramatic entrance. Lynefra smiled mischeviously to herself and then, on impulse, willed the window to break once again before dashing out the door.

Her strength wasn't the only thing that had increased with the "gifts" from Veorful, Loki, and Kuzunoha. Lynefra had moved through the corridor with such a speed that the air pressure her body generated shattered the windows facing the exterior wall. She also had certain impulses and desires that weren't present before. As Lynefra left the campus she began to reflect on the changes she noticed about herself, the increase of ability was easy to feel but the feelings Lynefra had were harder to notice, mostly because they felt as though they had always been there. They weren't thoughts that felt unnatural to her. In the distance, Lynefra saw the barrier to the school grounds. It had been repaired since Lynefra's tantrum and it served to keep the school grounds safe from exterior threats. It also kept the students inside unless they had special permission to leave the campus while not on holiday or vacation.

Lynefra grinned to herself as she forcefully broke the barrier with her body, causing multiple talismans to catch fire. A resounding boom followed by a shockwave occured as Lynefra had broken the school barrier and simultaneously broken the sound barrier. It alerted the Instructor's, and the Dean, that someone had either left school grounds or broke in. It didn't matter in either case as Lynefra was moving too fast for anyone to react in time to see her, let alone try and catch her. By the time the Instructor's and the school Guards arrived where the barrier was initially smashed through, Lynefra was already 10 kilometers away.

Lynefra decided to try something she had never done before. Father, Lynefra used her telepathy. She had never attempted to communicate with anyone over any distance before, let alone the thousands of kilometers of distance from her to the northern board of Dulsa. Father, come quickly! Lynefra said. Then she relayed her best guess as to where Freyd had been attacked and she pulled out all the stops as several more deafening booms and shockwaves happened. Lynefra had quadrupled her speed and inadvertenantly uprooted several trees as she sped towards Freyd.

"General, it seems as though they've retreated for the time being," a man in military garb addressed Traigar.

"hmph, they didn't even fight. Why would you retreat as soon as the enemy you're trying to invade actually shows up," Traigar said, obviously annoyed.

"It's because you're the enemy who showed up," another man said, handing Traigar several papers that needed the general's approval.

"Commander, buttering me up isn't going to get you a promot-" Traigar paused as he heard Lynefra's voice. He looked around the room and didn't see his daughter. 'Am I imagining things now?' Traigar thought to himself before he heard Father, come quickly - followed by latitude and longitude coordinates.

"Commander, scratch that thought, hand me a map and I'll see if I can actually get you that promotion you've got your heart set on," Traigar ordered.

"Y-yes sir." The commander replied, everyone was visibly confused.

As soon as the location was verified on the map, Traigar gave his commander some intructions, grabbed his weapon, and jumped off the 100 meter high watchtower.

"The man is a lunatic!" The commander exclaimed as soon as he was sure Traigar was out of earshot.

==============================================

When Lynefra had called out to her father, she didn't know that long distance telepathy didn't exist. Instead of telepathy, she had inadvertenly used Divine Sense. Divine Sense was like using a walkie-talkie except all the gods on the planet had the same channel and frequency. When one god used divine sense to convey a message or examine their surroundings, all the gods of the world would hear it and sense it.

In the immaterial plane, or as mortals call it, the Realm of the Gods, Lystall had also heard Lynefra's message for Traigar. With a concerned look, Lystall probed the location Lynefra had conveyed. She didn't like what she found. About 2 kilometers north of the location Lynefra had layed out, there was an ambush set up for what appeared to be a Dulsan Scouting party. As it was still night, the Dulsan soldiers were camped out exactly 5 kilometers to the west of the ambush site. 'Where are you Lynefra,' Lystall muttered to herself as she searched for Lynefra. 'Gotcha!'

Lynefra was closing in on the mountain range at the earstern border of the Dulsan Empire. Only then did she start to slow down. There's an ambush set up by demons about two kilometers north of where you told your father to look. What are you doing there? She heard Lystall's voice in her head.

Is there an elven scouting party in the area of the ambush location? Lynefra ignored Lystall's question and countered with one of her own.

Mmm, yes a group of about 500 from the Dulsan empire, why? I did tell you there's an ambush set up by Demons there, right? You should leave.

Yes yes, Lynefra ignored Lystall's warning, You said I was off by two kilometers? Not as good as I thought. Thankfully Freyd hasn't been killed yet.

Freyd? Your brother? I'm willing to be that ambush was set up specifically for the group of dulsan soldiers. How did you know there would be an ambush...and why do you sound so arrogant? Lystall sounded a little annoyed.

I had a nightmare Freyd got ambushed and he was dismembered before being killed, why? Lynefra was trying extremely hard to keep a bottle on her emotions, she didn't want to accidentally cause a freak weather incident. Thankfully it was still night so it was hard to notice the high altitude storm system that had followed Lynefra from the Dulsan Academy to the Eastern Boarder Mountain Range.

You saying you had a prophecy? I haven't heard of a god having a prophecy before. Let alone a prophecy so specific.

I never claimed to have any prophetic powers, it was just a nightmare. Lynefra struggled with her worsening mood. Her teenage hormones were slowly getting the better of her. I don't think I count as a god either. I don't know what I am, Lynefra sighed as thunder started to rumble across the sky.

Yes, of course, Lystall teased. She didn't notice the extent of Lynefra's bad mood or what the causes were. Because a mortal can certainly cause abnormal weather phenomena with their own power. Lystall's sarcasm upset Lynefra even more but Lystall didn't let up. Just so we're on the same page, you had a nightmare and you called your father to go with you to look at something in the dark because you're scared. Did I get that right?

Ugh, Lynefra grunted followed by some more thunder. Did you want me to invite you instead?

Hmm. No, a god would be overkill to handle a few mortals. Especially the leftovers from the country that your father destroyed. I also dislike the desert. Before Traigar had killed off the entire Imperial Clan of the Karom, it had been a regular desert with the Capitol situated around a vast Oasis. Traigar had upgraded Karom from being a desert to a vast, dry, wasteland.

Then why say anything? Lynefra asked. Quick question, who's Allenrael?...and how did you know I reached out to my father?

You used divine sense to convey a message to him...all the gods on Pandora heard it, Lystall replied. Where did you hear the name Allenrael?

My dream.

There was a pause in the conversation before Lystall replied, her tone grave. I better come and take a look personally.

Why the sudden change of heart? Lynefra's curiousity piqued.

Allenrael is a transcended demon. A mortal who rose to godhood through training and cultivation. He disappeared several thousand years ago and if he sees Traigar, Traigar will definitely be killed.

My dad isn't a pushover, Lynefra replied somewhat defensively.

Your father strong, you're right. For a mortal. He might have enough juice to bully someone like Aphrodite but Allenrael is different. The last time Allenrael fought with someone, he killed two minor war gods with minimal effort.

Lynefra tried a few times to get more answers out of Lystall about Allenrael but Lystall didn't reply. Shruggling her shoulders helplessly, Lynefra decided to head to the Dulsan encampment to wait for Traigar to arrive. By the time Lyenfra arrived at the camp, the sun was starting to rise.

"HALT!" an elderly guard shouted when he saw Lynefra approach.

Lynefra's eyes shined dully as she made eye-contact with the guard who stopped her. The battle hardened warrior took note of the girl's appearence and then turned beat red when he realized the little girl in front of him had woken up a body part of his that had stopped working hundreds of years ago. The old solder ran off out of sight to go "address" his particular ailment.

Lynefra faintly smiled to herself as she walked into the camp. Every soldier she passed quickly returned to their respective tents to go adjust themselves. 'When did I become such a slut?' Lynefra scolded herself for feeling proud of the problems she had caused the soldiers she passed. She took a cloth that was hanging up on a clothesline and covered her face with it before continuing on deeper into the camp.

Eventually Lynefra found a tent that was embroidered with gold and was at least three times the size of all the other tents. 'If this isn't Freyd's tent, then these guys must really love their mess hall,' She grinned under her veil. Lynefra walked into the tent without announcing herself, as if it belonged to her. Inside, she saw Freyd sitting at a make-shift desk at the far end of the tent. His brows were furrowed as he was deep in thought looking over the maps on the desk.

Upon seeing her brother safe and sound, Lynefra felt so relieved her eyes watered up and she charged up to Freyd with such speed and ferocity that she almost knocked him out of his seat as she hugged him. Before Freyd could recover from the unexpected embrace, Lyenfra started to poke and prod his arms, confirming he hadn't been "disarmed."

"What the- OW!" Freyd was trying to figure out what was going on when Lyenfra pinched him.

Just to make sure I'm not dreaming, Lynefra communicated sweetly.

"YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO PINCH ME TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE AWAKE, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PINCH YOURSELF!" Fryed shouted. "Why are you here and how did you get here?"

"I would also like to know what my daughter is doing here," Traigar was standing at the entrance to the tent. His words were somewhat gruff but he sounded happy. "Before we get to that though, Freyd! Why do you not have any sentries posted and why are all the soldiers still in their tents?" Traigar's happy voice was replaced with the tone of a General.

"Oh, it's not your son's fault," a woman materialized out of thin air right next to Traigar. She was tall enough to look him dead in the eyes, with long, pointed ears and silver hair that was only slightly visible under her hood. Her eyes reflected the night sky and she was garbed in a leather rider's coat that was detailed with silver. An ornate looking longbow was on her back and she had two equally ornate daggers strapped to her belt, one on each hip. She threw a thin looking, curved sword to Lynefra who caught it.

I see you've come ready for a fight, Lystall. Lynefra announced Lystall's identity to avoid having Lystall possibly make fun of her family members.

"LYSTALL?" Freyd and Traigar cried out and bowed towards her in unison.

"You two are overly formal," Lystall pretended to be upset, "and Lynefra isn't formal enough."

"Lynefra! You're in the presence of a Goddess, show some respect!" Traigar scolded. He looked at Lynefra after Lystall's remark. Lynefra stuck her tongue out at Lystall before gave a half bow. "LYNEFRA NIHILI!" Traigar started to turn purple. His daughter had never been so willful in the past.

Lystall only laughed. "It's fine, Lynefra and I are friends."

"To what do we owe the pleasure?" Freyd, having been around Altresca and her outrageous behavior had the most experience with ridiculous situations. Consequently, he recovered from the shock of having a deity physically in front of him before Traigar.

Lystall smiled, "As it turns out, you're daughter is somewhat of a prophet. She saw something horrible that was going to happen today and reached out to your father, Traigar." Lystall had responded specifically to Freyd. She had never really taken note of Freyd before, but he was an impressive young man.

Lynefra smirked under her veil as she caught Lystall giving her brother a once-over and then a cursory second glance. It wasn't a prophecy, Lynefra denied the divine elf's claims. The weather is even different than what it was in my dream.

"That's because of your turbulent moods," Lystall retorded. "Oh, before you two have a coronary or something, there should be a few more gods showing up before too long.

"Lynefra, did you trouble the gods with something?" Traigar asked.

"Lynefra didn't know she accidentally used Divine Sense when she reached out to you. All the gods on Pandora have heard it. A few will show up to help if we need it but I suspect most of them are only gathering to watch the show." Lystall paused. "Isn't that right Loki?"

"I keep telling my nephew that he's the only god my tricks work on," Loki's voice rang out yet he still didn't show himself.

"Who's Loki," Freyd started, "And if you may forgive my rudeness but what have you come to help with?"

"Oh I'm a god, I'm just not a god of this world," Loki replied.

You get used to it...these gods kind of have nothing better to do than to hang out in my head, Lynefra sighed.

"Mind your manners Lynefra," Traigar scolded again. He was strong but he knew very well that he couldn't compete with a God.

"Oh she's fine, I told you..she's a friend." Lystall laughed. "Actually, I believe Lynefra did have a special vision that contained a prophecy and it involves you." She pointed at Freyd. "Since she had a prophecy about your death, sorry, if she succeeds in saving you, she'll no doubt, have thoroughly pissed off Fate."

"stupid old witch. I never liked her anyways," Loki chimed in.
