《To Deify a Deity》It's a girl!

"Well, this is definitely a first," a booming voice sounded. It didn't really come from any specific direction either, it just seemed...present. "You know, I always thought your soul would look more....dazzling when you weren't actively trying to hide yourself."
It looked like a throne room, except it didn't. The large "room" if one could call it that, was so massive it made the largest of modern sky scrapers look tiny. It was a cross between a giant throne room and a giant court room. This was where souls were judged, sort of. This specific room was for the king of the afterlife to personally sit in judgment of some very special and abnormal cases. This such case was certainly the most abnormal that has ever happened since the beginning. If one looked closely, you could see a very faint wisp of flame in the very center of the obnoxiously large room. The wisp was very peculiar as it changed colors every so often. All the colors of the rainbow to colors that human eyes can't perceive - the ultra high and ultra low frequencies of light that human eyes just aren't able to look at.
"...Yama, it's because my soul is damaged. Stop being such an obnoxious child. Sometimes I feel like I made the wrong choice appointing you to this job," the wisp of flame whispered back sounding both irritated and slightly arrogant. It wasn't quite a whisper, however, more like a kind of fatigue and sorrow - extreme sorrow as if it was mourning. "It quite literally took everything to defeat her. I suppose it was time for a change anyways."
The king of the afterlife harumphed in displeasure, "I still don't understand how you let her beat you. I don't understand how an eternal existence that is supposed to be all powerful actually became this damaged. It looks as though your soul is about to dissipate at any moment. Regardless of how you actually came to be here in MY house, I'm kind of sad she let you off without actually destroying you completely. You're not exactly my favorite."

The wisp of flame (now known to actually be a soul) just remained where it was quietly, it seemed to be deep in thought before speaking, "I don't know why I wasn't destroyed either. Thinking about it, I should have actually lost but that would be terrible for every one throught the multiple planes of existence. I'm actually kind of pleased with myself, i finally created something that could beat me."
"....yes, anyways since your soul is so badly damaged It's extremely hard to actually judge at the moment and no, I won't be sending you home to the realm of the eternal watch - even if i could. That being said, as much as I personally dislike you for being the source of all suffering in existence, you're also the source for all happiness," The King paused a moment looking at the soul carefully from his extremely lofty perch, "Your karma is only just average and while it doesn't actually warrant any special treatment, you are my creator and you do have many unhappy children out there...and a wife that's so angry at you she almost destroyed the universe so I suppose I should give you some 'special' treatment."
From the tone of his voice the soul could tell there was some sort of annoying scheme involved at his expense. "Yama...what are you-" the soul started but it was cut off by the king of the afterlife.
"Father, it's time to reincarnate you into a special world that was actually created by the fight with mother," the Kind said matter-of-factly, "Unfortunately I'm going to have to create a fresh soul and seal off your true self for a time until it merges successfully with the new soul. You shouldn't manifest any of your abilities before such time either. This should make for an interesting show and I suspect those children won't have any grudges with you at all...especially with what i have in mind. heh" the king started laughing uncontrollably.

"huh?" was the only thing the fragmented soul could manage to say before arcane runes appeared around it, forcefully compressing the soul into a tiny sphere that started to radiate light like a new star coming into existence. The light abrubly winked out as if it had never been there and the king of the afterlife resumed his normal behavior as he turned around in his chair, kicked his feet up, and turned on the TV.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
