Ho-kay, apparently Daniel's 'genius' live update system still has a few bugs to sort out. It crashed so hard this afternoon it froze up my whole Opal, and Opals are supposed to be unfreezable. That's part of why Mum and Dad like them, because they're so tough and durable and reliable—they used them too, back when they were adventuring. Daniel says they've got some security flaws which is why he's so paranoid about me using his stupid encryption system, but whatever. I love my Opal. And I DON'T like it when stuff happens to make it crash or freeze up.

Anyway, after like three hours of fiddling Daniel finally managed to get things working again, fortunately (for him) with no permanent damage or data loss. He said that the crash was good because reading the crashlog gave him the data he needed to fix a bunch of bugs but whatever. He also said that the reason it crashed was because I got too worked up. Apparently my emotions were too strong.

"You know computers and emotions, they just can't handle 'em," he said. "WHAT IS THIS HUMAN CONCEPT OF LOVE hahaha, seriously though, you must've been really angry to overload the EmoCut subsystem, I put a huge buffer in that thing."

"I wasn't really angry," I said. "I was ... I don't know, frustrated or something."

"Well, anyway, it shouldn't happen again."

So he says. I'm a little sceptical.

Still ... I have to admit that the LUS thing (Daniel finally decided on the final acronym, it stands for Live Update System—SO creative, I know) does have its uses. It's good to have a live report when I'm on a mission, I've read the Arrow Island one about ten times already—I kind of wish it was more detailed but I guess I don't really think so much when I'm missioning. I mean ... you know what I mean. Daniel said he's fiddled with the brainscanning thing or whatever to make it more 'observational', personally I can't see much difference. I'm more worried about whether to use present or past tense for the LUS entries, present tense just seems more fitting but then when I just write a normal entry I use past tense. I guess if I really hate the way a LUS entry looks I can just go back and change it later. Maybe I shouldn't be worrying about this so much. After all, it's not as if anyone but me is going to read this, at least not without extensive editing. I should just do what feels right.

Anyway, I'm pretty tired now. C2 and Daniel are doing more monitoring but maybe I'll just go to bed.
