《Rise of Demon King》Volume 5: Chapter 36: Attack of the Tengu (Part 3)

‘This is…unexpected’
Shengyn was not sure why, but his body suddenly transformed into that of a monstrous giant crow demon.
Unlike what he expected, the transformation did not feel painful, no; it felt more like he had finally embraced his true self.
That was in a sense, exactly what he did.
As far as Shengyn was aware, he was a human with demon blood in his veins, which is why he had a single retractable horn on his forehead. He believed that one of his distant ancestors may have been a demon and the trait only resurfaced after skipping many generations. If only he knew how wrong he was.
Not even in his wildest dreams he would have imagined that he was in fact the ‘true’ heir of the certain clan that was the mortal enemy of the Phoenix demons.
But as they say, ‘Blood will tell’.
After transforming, his mask ended up shattered into pieces due to his face transforming into a giant bird head complete with a beak.
Out of the two brothers, Shengyn was definitely the one who took more after his father.
Still, it was rather ironic that he ended up here, without even being aware of the grudge between Tengu and Altyn clans.
In fact, had it not been for Sento Draco, the Demon Lord Shengyn ended up encountering, he would not have shown up here today.
The demon blood within Shengyn’s veins was very strong, but so was the bloodlust that came from it.
Korkau and Lumina put up a good fight, but they were too easy, Shengyn almost felt pitiful for beating them so senselessly and mercilessly. He might as well have been dealing with a couple of children.
But that red dragon demon lord…he was different.
Ever since his youth, Shengyn possessed extreme talent at everything he put his mind into. He awakened his demon powers at the age of eight.
With his talent for growth cultivated by Master Morphus, Shengyn became a nearly unstoppable force at a rather young age, only getting stronger with each day.
Shengyn knew that the Demon Lords were the strongest ones here, at least in the Kalkan Kingdom, so he tried to avoid them at first, not knowing if he could take them on.
But after getting nearly getting killed by Sento Draco, his mindset had changed. The battle maniac within him had awoken.
The thrill he felt while fighting an opponent that strong…someone who could push Shengyn to his limits and bring him to the brink of death...he wanted to feel it again.
Abandoning any sense of reason or rationality, he attacked the Altyn clan, because as far as he knew, they were the strongest clan within the kingdom.

Due to the way Master Morphus taught him, Shengyn came prepared.
Maybe too prepared.
Jaulon Altyn was now slowly regenerating from the damage he sustained from the second explosion. Since Shengyn used a highly concentrated level 6 magic, it would probably leave a mark. Phoenix demons may be strong, but they were far from invulnerable.
Due to underestimating Shengyn, Jaulon suffered the consequences. Shengyn felt a little disappointed that the esteemed Demon Lord of Altyn clan went down so easily. But to be fair, he was fighting against the man who killed the Demon King. A mere Demon Lord could not measure up to that.
But that did not make the situation any less ironic.
Even if his reason for raiding the Altyn clan was for the sake of thrill, Shengyn was still a crow demon fighting against Phoenix demons.
Just like Altyn clan that once sacked the Tengu clan, Shengyn pulverized the Altyn clan’s castle and severely injured their patriarch.
The history repeated itself once again.
Jaulon against Korgan.
Jaulon’s three sons against Ymit.
And now, Ymit’s firstborn, Shengyn against Jaulon’s heir, Zircon.
And before them, there were countless more, each with an unfortunate fate.
Without even realizing it, Shengyn was following in his predecessors’ footsteps.
“REN KARATENGU! YOU ARE DEAD!” Zirc immediately assumed his True Demon Form.
‘The wings don’t feel half bad…I wonder, if I can fly?’
With a single flap of his enormous black wings, Shengyn flew up into the air.
He did it just in time to avoid being hit by Zirc’s mighty punch.
“Brother! Destroy him!” Jang Altyn, who managed to regenerate to the point of being able to stand up, cried out. Zirc simply nodded.
Using the momentum of his jump, Zircon flew towards Shengyn at an alarming speed, brandishing his demon sword.
But Shengyn simply blocked the attack with a blade of his silver sword.
“Let’s dance, shall we?” Shengyn’s smiled as Zirc scowled.
Now, the battle between the ‘true heirs’ of Altyn and Tengu clans had finally begun.
The members of Altyn clan were strong, but they knew better than to interfere.
Unlike the other members of the main branch family, Zirc was a patient demon, but he was so obsessed with revenge to the point he would abandon any restraint or reason to destroy his foe.
If the Altyn clan members were to try to help him now, they knew that Zirc would not hesitate to tear them apart. He may be kindest of their leaders, but he was by no means soft.
This was a personal affair.

His enemy…his one true mortal foe was here.
Zircon will not allow anyone else but him to defeat him.
Circling each other while flying in the air, their blades clashed against each other seemingly hundred times, with neither one backing down.
Using golden fire, light, earth, and water magic, Zirc attempted to take Shengyn down with a barrage of four elements, only for Shengyn to unleash infernal black flames that swallowed Zirc’s magic whole.
Obviously, the crow’s magic was more than a match to Zirc’s.
“This is fun!”
“SHUT UP! YOU SHALL PERISH HERE, KARATENGU!”
‘What the hell is Karatengu?’ Shengyn wondered. ‘Maybe it is a Sulum world dialect…who knows?’
The two titans clashed against each other without a moment to catch their breaths. One fought for the sake of vengeance while the other fought for the sake of entertainment, but the blows from their weapons were terrifying to hear.
Once their swords ended up being knocked out of their hands, Zirc managed to grab hold of Shengyn and bring him down to the ground.
But right before hitting the ground, Shengyn disappeared, only to reappear behind Zirc and kick him in the butt.
This only enraged Zirc further, who now pulled out his double sided spear out of his storage ring.
Channeling his magic into the spear, he struck the earth with it, a powerful shockwave traveled along the ground, causing Shengyn to lose hit footing.
Using his chance, Zirc brought his spear down upon Shengyn, intending to skewer through him.
But his spear stopped short.
Using the palms of his hands, Shengyn stopped the spear from piercing into him.
“I am not that easy to kill, buddy”
With a twist, Shengyn broke the tip of the spear and threw it at Zirc’s face.
Instead of falling down, Zirc simply pulled out the sharp spear tip out of his face and crushed it into pieces. His face regenerated within seconds.
“Neither am I” Zirc boldly replied.
Their battle resumed.
Like Zirc, Shengyn was a once in a century genius. A genius born into the crow demon bloodline.
The two of them were the best warriors in the current generation of their respective clans. Essentially, this was a battle between the genius of Tengu clan and the genius of Altyn clan.
Zirc possessed unimaginable power, but underestimating the man in front of him would be same as inviting death over for dinner.
Unlike Ren, who had to rely on his survival instincts just to stay alive, Shengyn had truly mastered his power.
The distance between Shengyn’s abilities and that of his younger brother were like a distance between a plane and a mountain.
Now that both of them were on the ground, they battle raged on.
Using his powerful arms and legs, Zirc used multiple combinations of kicks and punches, each of his moves coated in powerful golden magic.
In return, Shengyn countered Zirc’s moves with magic of his own, which was charcoal black in color.
When one tried to use magic, the other would counter it.
Golden fire against black fire.
Their fight was of such intensity that the observers could only see the colors of their aura, clashing again and again…
In some ways, their clash was akin to a dance…a dance that could only end with the death of one of the dancers.
Chains sprouted from the ground in an attempt at catching Shengyn off guard.
The entire dance was for the sake of using magic on the ground, so when Shengyn would think he was safe; he would be ensnared with mana sealing chains.
But once again, Shengyn disappeared at the last second, only to reappear next to Zirc to continue their battle.
‘A teleportation user…there is no mistaking it. Every time I come close to delivering a critical blow, he uses teleportation to vanish….Each time he uses it, there is a small glow…’
After seeing the crow demon do it again, Zircon delivered a flying back kick behind him.
At that moment, Shengyn appeared there, making Zirc’s foot connect with Shengyn’s head.
The impact caused Shengyn to fall down on the ground rather hard.
As he stood up, Shengyn’s left eye was swelled and shut. And the impact of the kick made him a little wobbly. One of his wings was definitely broken and his beak looked a little beaten up.
“I knew it. Teleportation is the power of your demon eye, isn’t it? But without being able to access your eye, you are defenseless!”
“I wonder about that” Despite his injury, Shengyn was in a rather jolly mood.
Seeing his opponent enjoying the fight, Zirc uttered.
“You will regret stepping foot into my territory, Ren Karatengu”
Zirc’s eyes obtained an unimaginably bright glow.
This was his personal trump card, the power of his demon eyes.
Even for a genius, his power was a little special.
The light spread to everything around him, momentarily dying his surroundings in a color of pure white….
