《Magical Cosmic》Chapter 62: Fighting a Great Dark-Elementalist

The Head Court Magician’s Perspective
“Impossible! This is IMPOSSIBLE!! For such a bulky golem to survive a great rank spell like the {Darkness Vortex} and a barrage of spells of 100 court magicians was simply impossible. Moreover…” Arnold glanced through the explosion site and clenched his fist in rage. He… I'll kill the one who caused this! This is a sully for my name!
"Head court magician… What should we do now? The remaining ten Magus was badly injured. And I suspect that the enemy might have spotted us."
“Let them back away and recuperate somewhere safe. The rest of the knights would be useless to fight that golem, I suspect that even Roderic won’t stand a chance.”
“Head court… are you going to…”
"Yes… only me… a Great Dark-Elementalist has a way to destroy the golem’s inner core and end this once and for all.” Arnold turned around and flew to the sky, observing the frontline.
The soldier's morale was now so low that some of them have deserted the army. He couldn't help but frown upon seeing the chaotic state of the army, though Knight Roderic had handled it well and keeping the damage to the minimum.
After some consideration, Arnold told Roderic to lead the army and back away. Even though he didn’t care about the casualties that the army suffered, he just didn’t want it to damage his reputation. As the head court magician of the Dukedom, he should still maintain his appearance in public.
***
Looking that the army was backing away, I devised some plans to catch them. Though I didn’t bother too much to take care of them myself — at least for now and left it for ATA. I decided to ambush their strongest Magus while at the same time, testing out the advanced technology on the MRS. Might as well kill two birds with one stone.
Finding that it was a good chance to strike, I didn't miss the boat. First, I used the concealment mode on the MRS before aiming the two railguns at the head court magician from his blind spot. Despite it wasn’t the ‘absolute invisible mode,’ the MRS had a very advanced concealment technology, so he still didn't notice anything at all.
Bang! Bang!
The projectiles were released and approaching him at the speed that couldn’t be seen by the naked eyes. I was confident that he would be exhausted by now and didn’t have any way to dodge the bullet. I also had ATHENA scanned him in advance to make sure that he wasn’t an illusion.

However, when the projectiles were about to hit him, darkness fog emerged from around him and ate the projectiles. Not mistaken, the projectiles disappeared the moment it went inside the fog. No matter how long I waited, it never came out.
“A simple golem able to make an ambush?! Right, the golem is directly controlled… No, there must be someone inside the golem. Are you the ‘legacy holder’?”
Geh… what a sharp and quick thinking. Still, he didn’t know where I was hiding right now, time to use one of this thing's 'trump card.'
At that moment, the Ever-Changeable MRS shape changed. With swift and elegance, the initial giant robot design changed into a plasma cannon design. A huge protruding shape for the plasma to launch was at the front while the control seat was behind. Yup, the trump card is none other than the Plasma Cannon Mode.
In the meantime, the head court magician didn’t stay still. He was conjuring spells and summoned foggy-looking dark eyes around him that seemed used to detect my whereabouts. Although I was confident of the advanced technology, there was no saying that it couldn’t be detected by magic.
“Keep the charging power at 10% and help me aim it!” Although this thing was equipped with an advanced fusion radiator battery, if I use it at maximum power, it might get exhausted before I know it.
[Yes, Master~!]
Since I kept the charging of the plasma to a minimum, it only took less than three seconds before it was ready to be launched. Feeling that waiting longer might be bad, I hit the holo-button to launch the plasma.
Krzzz… Zssshhh!
Blinding light of destruction was launched, looking able to disintegrate everything in its way. The plasma laser was so fast, only taking less than a fraction of a second to reach the head court magician.
He almost didn’t have any time to react and was only able to perceive it swiftly because of his spells. His staff glowed and darkness fog from before encroached him. Still, all of that was futile, the fog disintegrated into nothingness and he was hit by the plasma.
“Hah! No matter if it was a Magus or a Great Magus, they are just an ant in front of this advanced weaponry!”
[Master~! I detect that there was a trace of strange energy not far from there. I suspect that he was still alive.]
“Seriously?! Is he even a human? Guess, it's time to fight more closely to test out this thing's limit, since he'd have known my location anyway." With that said, the MRS changed back to normal and flew to him.

As I decreased the distance between us, I saw that the head court magician was badly injured. His left arm was missing, his mouth leaked out blood, and his face pale like that of a corpse. It was a miracle that he was still alive and able to use magic.
"What kind of power is this?!" A shock couldn't be hidden on the head court magician's face and he stated, "I cannot die here!! Even if I need to burn all my spiritual power, I’ll come out alive!! {Darkness Manifestation}!!”
As that spell was chanted, darkness fog emerged from his surroundings and enveloped him from all sides. The darkness fog then turned him into a fog monster, looking evil and unstoppable. Of course, I wouldn't let him fully transform, and so I shot out a gravity bomb to him. Ah… there’s so little gravity bomb that I have, should use it sparingly.
However, he managed to dodge the gravity bomb by dispersing his body into the air. Shit! What kinda monster is he? Able to turn into gaseous and solid at will. Projectiles won't work, I need to use an energy-based weapon.
After pinpointing his new location, I took out a big fusion energy blade and approached him. Since I didn’t bother to conceal myself anymore, he threw out numerous darkness spears to me. Yet it was all futile because the MRS’ speed was just too fast.
Shocked, the head court magician was about to disperse again, but it was too late. I swung the fusion energy blade to him and cut him in half.
“Useless! Solid matter won’t be able to hurt me! Wait! Impossible! Argh!!” A wailing scream came out from him as his gaseous body burned. Although it didn’t damage him too much, it’s effective at least.
“You!!” There was a shake in his voice, in which he immediately shouted, “DIE!! Die within my darkness!! {Darkness Corrosion}!” Suddenly, his body enveloped the MRS and trapped it within.
No matter how the MRS tried to get away, the darkness fog attached itself to the MRS like a superglue. Surprisingly, the darkness started to very slowly corrode the sophisticated metal on the MRS. Damn! Oh, the shield!
In retaliation, I activated the shield and pushed out the dark fog. Then, I swung the fusion energy blade multiple times and cut his body into pieces, injuring him badly.
“Argh!! No.. No, no, no!! I, Head Court Magician Arnold, won’t die here!!" Arnold turned around and had his tail between his legs, burning his spiritual power.
Just when my blade was about to cut him again, his body dispersed into the air. It happened in a fraction of a second, and I couldn’t detect where he had disappeared into.
“Shoot! ATHENA, can you scan his whereabouts?”
[Master~! I suspect that he used teleportation magic or some sort to disappear quite far away. However, I just received a report from ATA that the robots are having a hard time!]
“Heh… Guess, I’ll help them before chasing after him.”
Without further ado, I approached the chaotic battleground below with a speed faster than the sound. It only took me a few seconds to realize that there was still one more formidable person. He was none other than the commander of their army, Roderic.
Not bothering to test out with the MRS's other weapons, I kept up the momentum. By using my blade, I would be able to finish him once and for all, while also preserving his head which would allow me to extract his memories later. I couldn’t pass up the memory of a Great Knight, I guess...
Just when he was about a hundred meters away, I ready the fusion energy blade and swung it to him. Because the MRS was many times the speed of sound, he couldn’t even react to the blade and his body was cut in half horizontally. And just like that, a Great Knight that could kill thousands of soldiers perished without being able to retaliate.
Boom!
The sound finally caught up and caused a sonic boom. The soldiers and knights in the surrounding area got thrown into the air while some weaker ones got blasted. The rest on the outside of the range leaked blood from their orifices.
Looking that their once mighty commander turned headless, the soldiers’ morale declined to the bottom. The robots — controlled by ATA — reacted fast and seized the chance, capturing them in one fell swoop. As for the knights, though, some of them got killed in retaliation to avenge their commander while the rest were captured.

The Merchant Prince Book 1: Returning Home
Enter a world of deceit and assassins. Augustus DeCastellian is a member of a wealthy merchant family, with ports all over the known world. He is sent on a voyage to new lands to open trade routes, but when he returns he will need to fight, using his tools of manipulation and cunning, for what he is owed.Author's note: This story is somewhat slow-paced, especially in comparison to the norm on Royal Road. The first three chapters act almost as a prologue, to give you a feel for what the rest of the story will be like. So, I suggest new readers try to get to the end of chapter 3 before deciding if this story is for them.A few of my reviews have said that this story is abnormal for Royal Road. I agree with that sentiment, at least based on what I've read on the site. It was just an idea that was in my head, that I began trying to write once my hobbies were cancelled due to the virus. I found Royal Road after I started writing it. Honestly, it's probably not even tailored for the web-novel format. But it's the story I wanted to tell. Discord: https://discord.gg/sk63gep
