《Magical Cosmic》Chapter 10: Objectives and Exploration [R]

After examining the Multi-Tool, I moved my gaze into the three big refrigerators at the back of the room. The refrigerators were equipped with a long-lasting advanced battery, so it didn't turn off when the generator was out.
Cold wind burst into my face the moment I opened the double 2-meter size doors of the most left refrigerator. Unbothered, I began calculating the frozen foods inside the fridge. 2 months… no, 3 months, this amount of food could last me 3 months if I ration it well.
Next, I took some food and water with me while starting to clarify my objectives. So, first I need to find and secure food and water sources. I couldn’t possibly last a long time without those, nonetheless.
Second, I’ll need to repair the ship and possibly turn the engine back to work. Still, despite having bought lots of materials before, it’s far from enough. Which means the third objective is to survey the surrounding area.
Lastly, I need to make sure that this place’s safe. If I was unlucky and the ship was within the territory of some dangerous beast, it could be dangerous. Unfortunately, the ship’s A.I. is out, I can’t use the drone to do the survey.
Since the material is kinda lacking and it might take too long to repair the ship, I might as well determine if this place is safe or not. While also finding any potential ore deposit and food source. Still, I need to exercise caution and didn’t explore too deeply. After all, I’m a space explorer and didn’t have a very in-depth knowledge of normal exploration.
After deciding my objectives, I checked my armor to see if there were any leakage but found nothing of sort. Subsequently, I grabbed an electromagnetic pulse rifle from a weapon section at the side. I didn't have anything stronger as for them were expensive and needed a certificate to buy.
Following that, I also stored a lot of ammunition into my dimensional storage. Then, went back to the pile of things and grabbed a long small box. As I had it opened with my hands, a long sophisticated looking one-edged sword with a unique design was revealed. A radiator sword. It should be an ornament but good enough for now.
I took out the sword and started examining it in detail. The sword was shaped like a medieval age sword. However, what made it different was that it could become so hot and cut anything just like cutting tofu. Of course, it was made by a very resistant material.

There isn’t a lightsaber like the one depicted in a movie. Although there's an energy blade, I didn’t have enough money to buy it prior and besides, who would be foolish enough to use a close-range weapon in this era? It just so happens that I buy this for decoration purposes only.
“Well, no need to think about it too much. Only by testing it, would I know it’s true potential.”
After examining the sword, I tried to move and swing it around. I realized that the sword was very light and sharp. Since the heat of the radiator would cut through anything, it was made from a light and durable material. Following that, I activated its radiator before cutting the box filled with metal at the side. To my surprise, both the box and the metal inside were cut clean while leaving a red mark at the surrounding of the cut.
“What a sword, I’ll name this sword an All Cut Sword then.” I smiled satisfied, unbothered by my terrible naming sense. Still, though. Who would have thought that my virtual training of the sword in the past may be useful here?
Afterward, I cross-checked all the things once more to ensure that all had been prepared before going out to the outside. As the exit door was within sight, I inhaled deeply and a deep smile cropped over my face, unable to hold my anticipation of the unknown.
Since the door was equipped with a battery, the force field was on too. I wasn’t worried that any kind of bacteria would enter my ship, it was able to block those things — foreign microscopic lifeforms. Naturally, I had put my helmet. Even though mankind had developed a vaccine that could cure all diseases. There wasn’t any guarantee that the unknown lifeform present here would be harmless and able to be blocked by the vaccine.
Just then, the door was automatically opened, and the warm bright light of the morning sun sprayed over me. I used my hand to cover my eyes from the blazing light. After having adjusted to the light, I tried to glance around the place, finding that I was in the middle of a small crater located in an opening of a forest. I could see a green shadow in the surroundings, looking like treeline.

Subsequently, I moved forward, going into the forest in the distant. In addition, when I came closer and closer to it, the sound of birds chirping, and the sound of wind breezing accompanied my ears. What a good melody... Wait, is that the sound of a bird? There’s no way that a lifeform on Earth could be here.
I shook my head but once more examined all the places here to find more bizarreness, stopping to a ball of fire in the sky. Wait, sun? Somehow, it's kinda a bit different than the typical sun, but I just couldn't put a word to describe it.
Anyway, feels like morning right now while the universal time is in the evening, must have been the difference in time. Guess, I’ll adjust the time to the one here. I had the helmet’s scanner to scan the elevation of the sun and the time on my HUD changed into 9 a.m.
Next, I continued my walk into the forest and strangely enough, the flora from afar seemed to be familiar. Finding this to be odd, I couldn’t help but ordered, “ATHENA, scan all of the flora and fauna that we came across, find if it resembles anything in the database!”
[Yes, Master~!] a cheerful voice replied.
Raising my leg into the forest, I saw a tree that resembled a pine tree in the surrounding. The tall structure of the tree and the thickness of the forest made me realize that this was an ancient forest that hadn’t been touched by humans.
Rustle~ Rustle~ Rustle~
The melodic sound of trees rustling makes my heart fluttered.
“Well, it's not like there have been any human beings except for me in here.” I mocked to myself with a sour smile.
As I kept going into the forest, ATHENA had been mapping the area in the surroundings since I didn’t want to lose my way. Yet, I stopped after staring at the 50 meters tall banyan tree in the distance.
“For God’s sake! Is a banyan tree supposed to be that tall? Wait, this wasn’t a banyan tree like the one from Earth anyway.”
I scanned the dim looking tree, mostly the below part of the tree, and saw that it was littered with 2 meters tall mushrooms with different kinds of colors. The mushrooms were glowing and enticing to the eyes.
While approaching the place instinctively, I inquired ATHENA, “Have you finish with the scanning of the surrounding? If so, show me the result!”
[Yes~ Showing results…]
At that moment, a holo-screen appeared on my HUD as I glanced into a pine tree beside me. I saw the explanation for the tree and was quite shocked to find that it seemed to be similar to the genus of the pine tree from Earth.
This didn’t make sense… Even flora found on another plane didn’t have this much similarity with the one on Earth. How could this be possible? I shook my head as suspicion began to form on my head. It may be related to the mystery of the wormhole and… wait, what's that?
A sudden breeze of cold wind came and gave me goosebumps, I could feel that something was moving very swiftly and quietly as if stalking prey. In precaution, I took out my pulse rifle and aimed it around the place. As I was looking around with vigilant and quietness; the sudden sound of a shrub flapped violently behind made me directed the pulse rifle to the back.
Weirdly, there was nothing on my back. This made me amused by my over vigilant self. “Pfthh… Have I gone insane? Even the smart helmet didn’t catch any sign of lifeform.”
Just when I lowered my guard, something swift ricocheted me and made me thrown off 5 meters into the banyan tree. I also lost the grip of the pulse rifle and it got thrown somewhere.
“Aghhh!!” What the heck was that?
Confusion filled my head as I didn't see anything that bumped me. Luckily, I didn’t receive any bad injury as my ceramic armor suit was blocking most of the impact. Still, I didn’t have the chance to activate the shield since that thing moved so fast.

The Fall of The Gods
Synopsis: In the year 1966, an army of Orishas led by Sango stormed Amadioha’s palace and razed it the ground, starting a decades-long war between two of Nigeria’s most powerful divine orders. Blinded by the rage of battle, the gods did not detect the rise of a third power, far greater and deadlier than anything they could have imagined. When gods, on both the Yoruba and Igbo sides, begin falling mysteriously to their death, Sango seeks the help of Odion, a Lagos teenager destined to rise from his dark past to become a hero. But can a human hero save the gods from a doomed fate? The Fall of the Gods is an action-packed YA fantasy based on the mythical bond that ties human life with the realm of the divine. It demonstrates the power of stories to change our lives. It also reminds us that Sango and Amadioha are not relics of the past and that, sometimes, what it means to be a hero in today’s world is knowing how to find inspiration in the stories of the gods.
