《Magical Cosmic》Chapter 6: Getting Ambushed Part I [R]

“You should already have some idea about why I’m here, right? Speak, where did you put the Technology Cube?” Hussein didn't answer Graham's question and just kept silent, this made Graham quite furious and threw him into the wall.

“B-Boss…. There’re a few tubes filled with Golden Stardust here. If we auction them, it’s well worth at least a million credits!" Graham's henchman said in excitement.

“What?” Graham moved his head to the side before looking at the desk and floor littered with a few finger-sized tubes with golden dust.

He smiled greedily, showing his yellow teeth, as he took all the Golden Stardust into his dimensional storage. Seeing Graham’s action, Hussein’s mouth twitched slightly. However, as he still had the majority of it in his dimensional storage, he calmed the aching pain in his heart soon after. With a great mood, Graham approached Hussein who could hardly move.

“Are you still not going to speak yet? Since you were giving this to me, I’ll play with you!” Graham smiled menacingly and he threw a punch into Hussein’s stomach.

“Ack…” After having received that punch, Hussein vomited the contents of his lunch onto the floor.

This happened continuously for a few minutes. Punches and kicks were rained into Hussein's body, but a determined look was still visible on his eyes as he had his body in turtle position—minimizing the damages. Despite doing so for a few minutes non-stop, Graham didn’t look exhausted at all.

Looking at the unbroken willed Hussein, Graham became annoyed and threatened, “Since you’re a fool who doesn’t know your limit, I’ll tell you something which will make you regret not complying." Graham sneered with confident before continuing, "I hear you have a family living on the habitat not far from here, it just so happens that I have a connection to one of the high officials in charge there. I wonder what would become of them if your family was to be thrown out from there?”

Hussein's face grew pale, like that of a corpse. As he thought about his family, his strong determination that he had previously, shattered completely in hopelessness. A crooked smile appeared on Graham’s mouth as he teased, “Still not going to say anything, eh? I guess there was no—”

“It’s Victor…” Hussein interrupted while he turned his face away and gritted his teeth. “Victor has the Cube….”

‘I’m sorry Victor, but my family is more important.’ A trace of tears formed in Hussein’s brown eyes.

“Victor? Who’s that?”

“It’s a brat that got betrayed five years ago by his comrades, boss.”

“Is it? Jiahahaha… what an irony for him to be betrayed again this time.” Graham chuckled in amusement.

Just when Graham turned his back to him with a hysterical laugh, Hussein suddenly launched himself and swiftly reached the hidden automatic door exit. This happened despite his badly bruised body. Witnessing that, the henchman tried to chase after him but to no avail.

“Boss… He got away!” The henchman reported full of fear.

“Leave him be, He must have placed lots of traps on the door. The robot forces of the Station are also here, and It doesn’t matter whether he’s dead or not!” Graham said while rubbing his chin before ordering, “Now, find out where the heck that brat Victor is!”

“”Yes!!!””

Looking at the piles of myriad kinds of devices, materials, and weapons that had just arrived outside of the spaceship, I smiled. Although I lost all my money for this, I think it will be worth it.

Universal Measurement Device…. It was a device that can precisely measure anything, including a lifeform’s power or fitness level and even something that couldn’t be measured by any other advanced measurement.

I grabbed the package and opened it, revealing a device that looked like a speed gun.

One reason why I bought this was that it can almost scan anything that other scanners couldn’t afford. It’s true that my smart helmet is also capable to measure things in general, but this thing is made with a unique material that can detect and measure anything.

I tried examining it with care before tinkering with the hologram behind the device. When I pointed the Universal Measurement Device at me, a ray of light appeared and scanned my body. A few moments later, a hologram was projected and a numeric of 73 was written on it.

“huh? Just an increase of 8 from the last time I checked?” I tilted my head as then a thought came across my mind.

From what I know, I should be stronger than normal adults living with gene enhancement which measured to be around 50. But for people genetically engineered to be a fighter, they have 100 points at least in their power.

The power calculated by this device doesn’t only include strength. By measuring the speed, agility, and adaptability of a living being, the Universal Measurement Device calculates the power. The universality of this device makes it popular among explorers.

After inspecting the Universal Measurement Device, I put the myriad items into the ship’s storage room little by little. My dimensional storage was limited, thus making me took a few trips to move all of them. Afterward, I went to the control room located near the front of the ship.

Just I sat on the captain’s chair inside the control room, I ordered, “ATA, turn on the ship and ask the station for permission to fly!”

[Affirmative.] A frosty female voice replied.

Even though it was only a civilian Spaceport managed by multiple big companies, a simple permission was still needed. Thereafter, the plain-looking Corvette class spaceship started its engine. The light around the ship was turned on, and the sound of the thruster could be heard by anyone nearby.

[Permission has been granted, beginning levitation of the ship….]

The spaceship flew up into the air as the thruster below the ship pushed it upward. In response, the gate of the hangar opened wide before the ship left the place. After passing the force field, the view of black space entered my vision. No white ceiling of the spaceport could be seen now, as the spaceship was already completely outside of Blue Moon Station.

With business here done, I contemplated my next course of action while starting to construct a plan that would give the most benefits while also with minimal risk. I couldn’t help but grinned after a series of plans were completed.

Even though I wanted to sell the remaining of the Golden Stardust in the other stores in the station and get rich quickly, having too much of it sold will just attract unwanted attention. Not only that, the wormhole in sector 837 might not last long, it's better to take precautions than weeping after losing it.

Nonetheless, a wormhole isn’t supposed to be stable, to begin with. The stable wormhole in sector 837 is certainly an anomaly that cannot be explained easily.

“Although it might… no... it must be a cosmic coincidence for such a thing to occur. But I've got a feeling that there’s more to it… Ah… Whatever.”

A while later, after the ship was quite a distance away from the Blue Moon Station, sudden turbulence shook my spaceship. The turmoil almost made me fall out of my chair.

“WHAT… the HELL was that?” I shouted in confusion, as I adjusted my posture.

[Warning. Warning. Space pirates have just fired a small missile from the side. Supplementing Energy Shield on full drive.]

“Damn, space pirates! ATA, show me their location and activate the invisibility cloak mode!” I cursed in contempt and piloted the ship professionally as if I was often dealing with this.

[Affirmative.]

A 3D holo-map displaying a dozen spaceships with varying sizes and types was projected. All of them were encroaching my spaceship at a distance of about 10 kilometers. Suddenly, ATA’s frosty voice rang out from the surrounding, [Transmission Request had been detected, accept?]

“Ignore it, just hurry up and accelerate the activation of the invisibility cloak!” I ordered, after being momentarily confused by the intentions of the pirate, but then continued after ascertaining that it might be a trap, “Wait… before that, use all of the available missiles to distract them and use that small time to escape!”

[As you command]

From outside, all kinds of missiles were launched from my spaceship, targeting all the pirate’s spaceship. Despite being outdated civilian missiles, commonly used for self-defense, they were at least good enough to be used as a distraction.

Just when the missiles were about to reach them, an energy shield appeared and encompassed the enemy’s spaceship. The missiles then exploded, and a blinding light could be seen from my spaceship. There was no sound of an explosion, as there wasn't any air for the sound to travel through to begin with.
