《Chosen by the Laws》Chapter 3 Rock Giant Rewards

While the Orb questioned its beliefs, Daimons' body was going through a transformation. His arm and leg muscles expanded enough to be noticeable and power coursed through him.
"This is awesome. I feel so strong!” shouted Daimon. “Wait, why should I not be able to do this?" replied Daimon.
"Your inner world is only supposed to be used to view your status, watch skill demos and progress your inner world. You should not be able to train or use mana in here, the benefits of this are unheard of" shouted the now angry orb.
"What benefits?" replied Daimon
"FIGURE THAT OUT FOR YOURSELF!” screamed the orb. Somewhat calming down after the angry outburst, the orb suggested that they ignored Daimon's' new 'ability' while it was present. Scared and confused by the outburst, Daimon readily agreed.
Although he was extremely interested in figuring out what his new ability entailed and what ramifications it could cause in his future, Daimon decided that he was better off not asking. Deciding to simply move on, the orb began to explain how Daimon had received the skill.
"During the moment when you were about to get flattened by the giant, your body produced unheard of amounts of adrenaline in its moment of fear and need. This gave you the boost needed to dodge and the strength required to push the monster, Thus the skill was created"
. The Orb also stated that skills could be gained as rewards from quests, producing them himself, and by purchasing them from something called ‘The System Shop’ when he gained access to it, which apparently would not happen for a few weeks. Still slightly angry, the Orb refused to inform him how the shop was unlocked.
Mainly intrigued by the term mana which he understood from games he once played, he decided to forgo wasting time on simple questions which could be figured out by himself and move on to the more exciting details "I seem to remember seeing something about skill rewards being granted after the rock giant died,” said Daimon Excitedly.
Sighing, the angry floating ‘demon‘ replied "Of course you do, as if you haven't received great benefits already. Relax your mind and return to your body, and in the future, try and learn how to split your mind so you can focus on the outside world at the same time as well. We wouldn't want some monstrosity to rip your head off while you weren't focused would we?” smiled the now short-tempered orb.

Returning to his body Daimons’ mind felt slightly drained. So my actions in the inner world influence the mana in my body. Although not being able to see my mana and health may get dangerous. "Is there any way for me to always see my health and mana?" he questioned the orb.
"You can will your health so it remains in your vision at all times. Do it once and it will remain; however, your mana does not have a numerical value, establish a connection with your core in the real world and form a line of power to your brain from your core and solidify it. This will give you a permanent link with your core and you will be able to sense how much energy remains. Your laws have no power and exist simply to influence the control over your mana; for example, you can combine your wind law and mana to change it into wind energy, but you are a long way from doing so".
Following the suggestion, Daimon added his health to the top left-hand side of his vision and established a connection with his core. He sensed that his mana was refilling slowly from using adrenaline shot.
"Not all skills require mana, such as physical skills, adrenaline shot makes use of mana because you had no stamina left when you activated the skill the first time. The skill should in fact be called Mana Overdrive, however, due to your circumstances a new skill was birthed which draws from your health pool instead of your mana pool," said the orb.
"Now for your rewards. Your random law has already been granted, the elemental law of wind, which luckily for you is a highly ranked law. For your next reward you get to choose 2 common skills, just like your status page, will your rewards and they will appear".
Following the instructions, a huge list of common ranked skills appeared in Daimons’ vision. Judging by the size, there were thousands. "How am I supposed to look through all of these?” exclaimed Daimon. Growing happy by Daimons’ plight, the orb giggled like a little girl which confused Daimon as its voice was that of an old man. Daimon spent 20 minutes looking through the skills before he gave up due to the sheer volume presented to him. Thinking back on his days of gaming, he thought of a few skills, all of which appeared. However, he decided to choose:

Inspect - gain the ability to view the status of those around you, beginner level shows name and level.
Stealth - gain the ability to remain hidden by decreasing your presence, including sound and smell.
Both were active skills. Inspect used mana, while stealth drained stamina from his body.
"Now for your other reward, one rare item box," said the orb
Following the previous example given, Daimon willed the reward into existence. Suddenly, a blue chest appeared in front of him. Opening the chest, he reached inside and pulled out a compact bow. As soon as he touched it, the stats appeared.
Grade - Rare
Compound bow of agility Skill required to use Mana Arrow
Abilities
Mana Shot / Imbue law
Description
A compound Bow that uses mana arrows as ammo, Can imbue Laws into the Arrow to create a variety of effects.
"Well crap, I can't use this".
"How do I create a mana arrow, I can barely control my mana as it is? Maybe if I focus on trying to create a skill to control mana easier, I will be able to shape it with my will, like the link created between my brain and core. I can also start training my body to meet the requirements of the bow and defeat my enemies from a distance. However, that won't always work". Caught in a predicament thinking about how to survive the coming weeks, Daimons pondering was interrupted by a loud growl reverberated through the cave. Jumping in fright he quickly Realized that it was coming from his stomach, he looked around for his backpack. Horror dawned on his face when he realized that he must have dropped it during his fight with the Rock Giant. Plucking up the courage to finally leave the cave he prepared to head back up the cliff. However, he once again entered his inner world. " No point in being unprepared while walking to my death" he muttered.
Looking around, he first realized that he had gained an extra two willpower from the earlier use of mana. He guessed that this was one of the benefits the orb didn't want to mention about his inner world, a safe place to gain willpower and train his skills.
Checking his skills, he was greeted with two new clones.
Inspect was staring straight through him while Stealth was comically crouched down slowly walking towards him. After spending 20 minutes looking within both skills to understand the concepts held within, Daimon developed a clear understanding of how to use both. Inspect required power from his core and was directed towards his eyes in a peculiar pattern, this cost very little mana. Stealth on the other hand required simple crouching down and moving slowly. Daimon felt a small drain on his stamina while doing this which let him know the skill was working.
Once again furious at Daimon's ability, the orb refused to follow Daimon out of the cave.
With his health and mana filled, 3 active skills, and an insatiable hungry Diamon left his compound bow in the corner of the cave and started to scale his way back up the cliff.
"Try not to get eaten!’ shouted the 'demon’ remaining in the cave.
Nearing the top of the cliff, Diamon started to panic. “What if there are hundreds of rock giants up here or other monsters?” he thought. Slightly scared, Daimon thought back over everything he had learned today, and of his family, he had left back home before he came to a university so far away. “How will I return to my family and keep them safe if I am too scared to even find a backpack. If I turn back and starve to death who will protect them?“ Plucking up the courage he stated inwardly, “I can do this. I will become strong. I have gained many benefits so far. I will become stronger and protect my family.” Courage raised and he pulled himself over the cliff ledge and prepared for the journey ahead.
