《Drakon the Necrolord v2》Chapter 21

Chapter 21 It seems that even if I am immortal I am not immune to fatigue or bloodloss. According to Grim, it took me a few days to wake up. The ladies only let me get out of bed to use the toilet. I'm not going to ask who cleaned me up while I was out of it. On day four of my ordeal, being pampered by everyone, I got sucked into the dreamscape when I took a midday nap. When I got there it looked a lot different than usual. The white walls had disappeared. In its place was what looked like a throne room. I was seated on a stone throne. The room was probably about twenty meters wide and about a hundred meters long. With pillars lining the room every couple of meters and a few meters in from the side. A big red carpet led down the centre of the room to big double doors at the end. The room was arched with about fifteen meters of wall height on the sides and twenty in the middle. Along the sides, I could see large arched windows. Most of them were dark as if it was night outside. But one of the ones nearest the throne was lit up and had a stained glass motif of me fighting a were-rat. I was startled by AI-Me appearing before me. "Do you like the new setting? The new update changed a few things." "It looks great. Is it just the throne room or is there more to this place?" "There is a good bit more to be found. but let's talk about the update first." "Yeah the update, you mentioned it before in passing saying that something was coming up. You able to tell me more now?" I was intrigued "Yeah, the council was a lot faster than usual in putting out an update this time. Last time it was two centuries after the age ended that the update came out." "Ok, I have a couple of questions. The first one, what is the council?" "Th council is a gathering of sorts that the system organises at the end of each age. All of the gods are invited. New gods are sometimes anointed at this gathering. Who knows if you get powerful enough you might end up one yourself. Other very powerful beings such as dragons might have representatives as well. In any case, they help advise the System in what works and what doesn't. Subsystems get added or changed, Sometimes certain classes get buffed or debuffed. A lot of it are small changes though. Like a crop might grow faster or slower, or use less fertilizer." "So what changes did they make this time around?" "If I listed all the changes they made I would still be listing them next century. I'll only go over the ones that affect you or at least the changes that affect the things you already know." I nodded. "Ok first things first the changes to the dreamscape. Each person now has a fully personalised dreamscape depending on their class and achievements and such. There are actually two versions now. One you can visit in your dreams and a physical version." That piqued my interest. "A physical version?" "Yes, you can now enter your dreamscape via special doorways and have other people join you inside. Those doorways are situated in every adventurer's guildhall, and with some work, you can add a doorway to a structure you own. People can link their dreamscapes together if they enter from the same doorway. The main difference between the physical one and the dream one is in the dream one time on the outside doesn't move. In the physical one, it does." "You can only spend a maximum of eight hours per day in the dreamscape, and if the doorway you entered from is attacked you will get kicked out immediately. There are upgrades that you can make to the space once you have it linked to anything besides the guildhall. Until then this throneroom is all you have. Through the double doors, all you will find is a hallway that will have doors leading to any of the linked dreamscapes." "Until you get those upgrades anything you take inside here will reappear once you exit again. Also you cant take anything that's her outside with you. So no sneaking out with the throne. That's one of the big overall changes that was made." "One of them? So there is more?" I asked thinking that this was a big deal all by itself. "There are two more big changes that affect things you already know, and the first is a change to the unit system." "What did they change?" "They kind of merged the mercenary company system with that of lords and summoners to make it easier. Now there is no more CP. Each unit will have a banner that levels up just like a character would. And the banner gets upgrades perks and such that affect the unit. Current units will get transferred over to the new system in a few days' time and will be grandfathered in, so units won't lose any special abilities and such that they have earned." I was a bit relieved that Moira's Chosen would still stay the same, I've gotten really attached to that unit. "Also each unit will now have its own commander. For summoners, like you, the unit commander is the one that sets the tone for what the unit will become. Next time you unlock a new summoned unit slot you will get to choose from a few different commanders. As your a Lord that selection is permanent unless you get a reward from the system that lets you change the commander. You as a Lord will also unlock non-summon unit slots for troops. Those troops can be commanded by anyone you like. The banner will give a certain number of troops a specific bonus depending on the commander's class. You will have to find out what those bonuses are once you unlock one of those slots." "So I'm guessing I still only have the one slot available right now then?" "That is correct. Just the one slot reserved for a summoned unit for now." "Any other surprises you want to drop on me?" "Yes there is also another major change and that is how paths skills and milestones work. Now every class only gets one Path point per level. Don't worry, you won't lose anything, your level will increase to however much PP you already spent so far. Skills levels are now only affected by your level. Max skill rank is now always your level and anyone can learn anything if they put their mind to it. the only thing s that certain classes and just general aptitude will decide how fast you skill up. So you will probably always be bad at music no matter how hard you train." I pouted a bit at that, but fair is fair nobody can be good at everything. "Then we come to milestones. They are now gone. In its place is now the quest system. You can get quests from everywhere most will just give you a boost to experience, the old milestones are now denoted as personal quests and are just there to act as a kind of guide on what to do for your class. The quests themselves are usually the reward itself. Like you get a quest to build a castle. You now have a castle." "So when will these changes go into effect?" "To make sure everyone knows what to expect. Especially as you have what the system would say are only minor changes. Some classes had total overhauls. The changes won't go into effect until about two weeks from now. By next week you will be able to check out all the changes in detail like your new level, any changes to abilities or maybe even new ones as you will gain a few levels. And what changed with Moira's Chosen. It will also take about that time to have each adventure guild get fitted with the new doorways." I spent a bit of time wandering through the gigantic throne room thinking about what I was just told before going back to my well-deserved midday nap.
