《The Timebender》6. Enemies

“Jeez, he moved so fast that I couldn’t even see him.” That’s what Dale said after Adrian walked into the forest.
It was clearly an exaggeration, but no one could deny that Adrian was fast when he went seriously. Axel wanted to say goodbye, but he couldn’t.
“What should we do?” Asked Mike a bit nervous now that the group’s members were reduced by one.
“Walk” Said Aby as a matter of fact. “Adrian is plainly faster than us, even if we were to walk a whole hour meanwhile he rested, he will still catch us. Let him move freely.” Aby talked like if Adrian was a disobedient child.
“What are we waiting then — Let’s walk!” Axel told vigorously.
And that’s what they did. Everyone stood up and starting marching. Axel knew that this forest couldn’t be infinite, that idea was reinforced by the fact that the woods were opening slowly. No one was tired, their march was slow, and the climate was nice, only one problem was present at everybody's minds. Water.
There was no pond to be seen or river to be heard. Since they left the cabin, they have been walking for about an hour with little to no rest. All of them were taken when they least expect it. Hunger may be no problem at the moment, but thirst was.
“Dale.” Called out Kayle.
“What, sis?” Said Dale back.
“Try eating that conspicuous mushroom over there. Surely your [Fortuna] will help you.” Kayle was pretty bored, she needed every bit of entertainment she could get.
“I won’t.” Dale responded.
“Why?” Asked Kayle without stopping.
“I am not going to eat an unknown mushroom of an unknown world just to satisfy your boredom.” Explain Dale to his sister.

“Damm, I am easy to read.” Exclaimed Kayle out of enthusiasm.
Kayle was now thinking if her [Procesa] was making her bored more easily because he had nothing to think about. Aby seemed to be fine, though.
“Watch out!” Axel cried suddenly.
“W-what.” Exclaimed Mike after waking up from mindless walking.
“I sense danger.” The brown man warned.
“How can you sense danger?” Asked one of the blond siblings.
“[Warden’s Taunt]!” Axel cried out loud out of nowhere.
This was the skill he obtained after fighting with Adrian, a battle cry that snatched enemies' focus and made them attack him. Shadows emerged from the trees, clearly rushing towards Axel.
“Attack!” Axel told to the group.
In an instant, both Aby and Kayle activated their auras. Mike and Dale felt like their shots would never miss and Axel sensed the strength emerging from his arms.
There were five enemies, all of them were a strange type of humanoid praying mantis, with huge black eyes and large scythes instead of arms. The monsters rushed Axel without a doubt. While they were charging mindlessly, Mike exploited that to make a shot. The arrow flew with great mastery, perfectly going through both eyes of a monster. That one fell to the ground. Four remaining.
One of the mantises lost the aggro, now marching towards Mike. Aby stood in front of him, making space between the monster and her. Dale didn’t stand still and rapidly shot darts at every single creature.
“All of them are poisoned!” Dale cried; he had a stroke of luck.
Axel was holding three of the monsters with his two-hander, making the timing for his team to strike them. Axel noticed that the praying mantises became slower after being struck by Dale’s poison. He tried to cut one of them with the sword, but the monsters didn’t give him any chance. Seeing that her buff was useless, Kayle went to the backline to help the ranged attackers instead. Kayle ran to Dale, but another of the mantises lost aggro and rushed towards her. Axel couldn’t move, now her life was one her own hands.

Kayle shrunk in fear when the monster jumped with the intention to kill her, but then the mantis fell to the ground with a huge thud, its legs were missing, A shadow was standing on top of it and stabbed its brain.
“You should be more careful” Adrian scolded Kayle. The girl wanted to cry but Adrian talked first. “Go with them, you are in danger here.”
Aby was still holding the mantis with her staff, but finally, Mike managed to kill it right when Kayle came. Mike’s first shot seemed nothing but the luck of the novice. To be fair this praying mantis was a higher level than the other ones, as it withstood one poisoned dart and two arrows.
Without talking, Adrian stole the focus of one of the two creatures that were attacking Axel by throwing one of his daggers. His right dagger was now stuck at the mantis abdomen.
Now that Axel was free, he went apeshit onto the poor mantis. He started swinging his two-handed sword as if it was a short sword, merciless attacks landed on the creature’s arms that were concentrated on the defense.
Adrian used his last dagger to parry the scythes of his enemy. Once a pair of blows were blocked, a dart and an arrow penetrated its left and right eye, respectively.
Without no one interrupting, the group let Axel unleash his bloodthirst upon the insect. Now they were watching it as if they were an ancient Rome citizen at an amphitheater gladiator show. Within second the battle was won.

Now that the battle had finished, Adrian talked. “Did you all level up?” They all nodded.
“I leveled up twice.” Told Axel.
“How much experience did you obtain?” Asked Adrian to him.
“320.” He responded.
“Jeez, being the tank is worth.” Said Dale.
“Do you want to be at the frontlines?” Axel joked.
“No, sir.” But Dale responded very seriously.
Adrian opened his [Status] and dropped his two [Status Points] in [Celeratio] without thinking.

8 71Sarsaparilla's Scary Super Power. Completed
Sarsaparilla is an older teenage girl living on Mars. And, like many other young people around her, she has a super power. Or, rather, she is supposed to have a super power. Only she has never been able to activate it, she doesn’t even know what her super power is. This annoys her, tremendously. But she hides this behind a really sweet smile. Adalace is another teenage girl, also on Mars. She knows what her own super power is, and it is quite a good one. She is also really cute… so long has she keeps her feelings under control and doesn’t let out anything from her dark past. Teylon is a man, currently living on Earth. He likes to think of himself as still young, even if he is over fifty. He’s a bit smug about his successful career and is thinking of retiring… until a sadly unfortunate event leads him to the conclusion that he had better immigrate to Mars. Immediately. Apparently, meeting one’s own Angel of Death tends to cause people to make profound changes to their lives… Mars society had better brace itself, because once these three people, plus another three also not so quite stable individuals, collide with each other, the resulting explosion is not going to leave anyone on Mars unaffected. This is another Esmeralda, the Angel of Death, story. It follows on from my previous two such stories, but it is in no way dependent on the previous stories. They can be read in any order. It is fully written and proof read (using Word for Windows, no real editor touched this transcript) and comes to about 247,000 words (about 895 Royal Road pages). It is organized into 50 chapters and I will be publishing them roughly one per day. In my writing, there are multiple characters and multiple points of view. Each change in a point of view is introduced by a header, giving the viewpoint character’s name first, and possibly a title. Inside a Point of View section, dialog in italics represents the Point of View character’s thoughts, while dialog between quotes represent normal spoken dialog. This story is very much inspired by the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. However I have only taken some elements from the anime, and changed everything I took to make my own story, and so it does not count as fanfiction. Yeah, I know, the book cover page isn’t very good. It’s the best I could do, by tracing over a stock image. The two ladies shown are supposed to be Adalace and Sarsaparilla. Ideally I would have liked there to be two images of this pair, one where they are smiling sweetly and looking cute, and one where they are looking really angry and dangerous. But that totally exceeds my graphics abilities. You will just have to imagine it.
8 116Sovereign of Loss Book 1: Invader
Have you ever felt like you're being watched by some cold unfeeling god? That's how Clive Adkins feels, every, SINGLE, day. Honor the Dead. This is the creed the man was taught from a young age after his mother's death. and the only thing holding him together as he gets shuffled around by players in a cosmic game spanning entire universes. This is the story of Clive Adkins, An unwilling piece in a grand game. Some tragedies are coincidental but many more were engineered, countless turning points in history, manipulated by forces behind the scenes. Hiroshima and Nagasaki, an attempt to kill a powerful being. Chernobyl, a coverup. Those fenced-in seemingly abandoned areas urban explorers seem to go missing in, exclusion zones. even the deaths of Julius Ceasar and Genghis khan can be attributed to them. The beings responsible for these events aren't fully understood we simply call them, the Invaders. A note and brief forward from the author: The start of this book is very, VERY messy. so PLEASE read the author notes for clarification until I figure out a better way to write/rewrite those sequencesThe editing process of this book is ongoing, this disclaimer will likely be removed after the final edit.the suggestions feature is enabled I encourage readers to use it.

8 199Children of The Sky: Heartcore
In the realm of Yggdrasil, there exist nine worlds. Each and every world has unique stories to tell, but there was one that stood out--The Floating World of Speir. In the land of Speir, the impossible does not exist; this world has given birth to thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of tales, fables, and legends. The fight for the fate of the world is a common occurrence and the neverending stories of the people which reside in it were all, by itself, always unique and interesting. Now, after many aeons have passed, the world has changed. Not only the power of magic could shape reality, technology also has the ability to change the world with just a thought. And from the world where futuristic technology meets magic, I have chosen to tell you a story, a story picked from countless others. This is the story of a boy who recently entered the prestigious, and the most powerful academy in all of the nine worlds--Yggdrasil Academy, to fufill his dream. What is his dream, you might ask. Well, allow me to show you the life of Reynard Foxtale, one of The Children of The Sky. *Warning. For those who don't like lengthy explanations or long talks, this might not suit your taste. However, the setting of my story does not adhere to most of the main stream fantasy/sci-fi settings. So, you might find my ideas unique or a little too weird and complicated or both. Whatever opinions you might have, I truly thank all of you who are willing to spend your time to read my story. *The cover (which is a picture I do not own) is not in any way an accurate depiction of the world in the story. P/S I will post this story on FictionPress as well. P/P/S I'm relatively new to this website, so if I made any obvious (to regulars) mistakes, please tell me. P/P/P/S Will update every two weeks. *Important: In Hiatus for now. **13/7/2017 Update. Check chapter nine (and maybe ten) post-chapter note.
