I reached the academy before Sara by a large margin. It’s either I am faster than I think, or Sara stopped running half the way. Shaking my head, I stepped inside the classroom. There was no one there so I sat on the desk, took out supplies for calligraphy, and started working.

It was my second Chakra Storage Fuin when I saw something great.

Seeing the fuin’s potential, I whistled then started a new one.

I wrote and wrote until I heard someone say, “Hey, uh, Arata.”

I turned to the voice. It was Shikamaru. I nodded at him. “Something wrong?”

Shikamaru shook his head while looking at the papers strewn around. He then looked at the latest fuin and said, “Is this fuinjutsu?” I nodded. “I heard it’s dangerous to study by yourself.”

“It’s only dangerous if you work on explosives or something. Even if it’s not the case, I am pretty sure it’s safe to only write them.” I said while shaking my head.

Shikamaru sighed. “Troublesome. I heard you are working on taijutsu after class with Sara and Naruto. I need help with my taijutsu or my mother…” He sighed again and continued, “Is that okay with you if I and Choji join your training?”

I shook my head and smiling said, “Not at all.” Shikamaru nodded and returned to his desk. Since I was already lost focus on my work, I took a look at my gains.

Calligraphy is Leveled by 4.

‘Now this is what I am talking about. Only an hour in and Calligraphy is already Level 5. I can’t imagine how many levels I will gain in the class if things go on like this.’ I shook my head and continued my training.

After another history lesson that I didn’t listen to, we assembled in the backyard. There was Sara, Naruto, Shikamaru, Choji, and surprisingly, Ino. They filed in front of me, waiting. Some looked excited while others looked bored already.

I took a deep breath, “Now here we are, assembled in here, in the backyard of the academy. This is the moment we make history, we… Just kidding. Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, show me your katas okay?”

They put their disbelieving faces aside and started doing katas. Their katas weren’t bad but certainly weren’t perfect either. I motioned for them to stop and when they did, I turned to Naruto and Sara. “I will be working on this trio’s kata. I won’t be able to oversee your training today.” They nodded and walked towards the taijutsu ring, to spar without a doubt.

I turned back to the trio. “Try to copy what I do.” They nodded and I started showing them katas. They weren’t able to get it on the first try but they eventually managed to do first kata so I told them what the point of it was. After making sure they memorized it, I continued to the next kata. While doing that, a screen popped up.

While reading the Skill description, I couldn’t help but get excited. ‘Free stats, here I come.’ I turned to Shikamaru who was looking at me oddly and used Mentoring information gathering effect.

‘Good.’ With that, I continued training the trio. It took about half an hour to reach Ino’s limit. Forty-five minutes for Shikamaru, an hour and a half for Choji. The lesson must have been tiring since both Ino and Shikamaru stayed on the ground after I told them to stop until the end of Choji’s lesson.

When I was done with Choji, Shikamaru stood up and came towards me, “Thanks for the training.”

“You’re welcome.” I said while smiling, then continued, “What do you think about the effectiveness of my training method?”

“It’s rather unorthodox but good.” I gestured him to elaborate and with a nod, he continued, “It’s unorthodox because trainers generally don’t tell their students to point of katas, maybe because they don’t know or because they think it’s wrong.” I nodded to express my understanding. He sighed and started stretching.

Then came Ino. She looked at me a bit angrily and said, “You are a slave driver you know that right?” I frowned feeling wronged. She snorted and folded her arms, “You pushed us to our limit, don’t try to deny it.”

“You are right,” I said while sighing then continued, “But you should be aware how effective it was.” Ino just nodded and started stretching too. I looked at Choji to see if he is going to say something too but he was just munching on chips. ‘Where did he get that?’

I shook my head and made my way to Naruto and Sara. They were animatedly talking about something. They stopped talking when they saw me though. Naruto quickly stood up and said, “You are finally done. Wanna spar?” I shook my head. “Why?” He whined, I just smiled and used Mentoring on them both.

“Okay, Sara stand up, and let’s take a look at your katas.” She nodded and stood up.

“What about me?” Asked Naruto petulantly.

I shrugged. “I don’t know, find something you can do or just watch. Your level difference is too much for me to work on you both. Naruto sighed but nodded and plopped to the ground.

Then I started mentoring.
