《The Aria Chronicles》Munching

I watched it disappear out of my view, but I didnt dare to relax even though every part of me saying to I should let go. I kept forcefully holding myself up in fear that Orc would come back attack me.
A few minuits passed and Orc didn’t come back or launched any sneak attack, seeing that I sigh of relief but I still didnt let go. I walk up to the pouch that Orc had dropped and started to move toward a well-hidden place I came across before I fought with the Orc.
Thud!
As I reached that well-hidden place, I finally let go and fell flat on the ground, I was forcefully managing the 2nd mode of Battlesuit despite reaching the limit and I had been doing something similar with my soul energy.
I could feel the damage I have done to my Blood Core, it will be quite a hell to heal the injuries of it.
I wanted to move my hands a little and drink some potions but I do not have the energy to do so, currently, all I could do twitch my fingers if the enemy came into my way, it could easily finish me off with simple swung of its ax.
Gulp...
I laid on the ground for a few minuits before I got enough energy to move my hands, the first thing I did after I get mobility is to take out the potion bottles from my Dem bag and start drinking them one after another.
I could feel warm heat traveling into my body, the four potions that I had just drink started to work on their magic but their healing speed is a little slower than I had expected, they would be not enough to heal my internal injuries much less the injuries I have in my core.
Five minuits later, I felt good enough to sit up and my gaze fell on the pouch that had fallen from the Orc, something that Knight Orc keeping on itself couldnt be a useless thing, I though and pick up the pouch.

“Beast Meat!” I whispered as I looked at the dried meat strip in my hand, it is a common diet of those elite Baron and above as it contains shit loud of energy which they could use to cover quickly.
I would have also been allotted the Beast Meat if not for me being a Knight, Beast Meat is very hard to digest, it could only be digested by the Elite Baron or above. If normal Baron to eat Knight level beasts meat, he would puke his guts out due to indigestion. So, for normal people to eat the Beast Meat they have to become a Baron at least.
That is only for vampires and humans, normal Orc Baron easily could eat the beast meat and is normal Giant Knight, it all depends on what race you belonged to.
Crunch Crunch…
My Physique is not worse than any common Baron and I am feeling very hungry, I should be able to handle the few bites of it, I thought as I took a bite after I wasn’t able to control myself smelling the delicious smell of these dried meat slices were giving.
The meat is very dry but as I chewed on it, it started to melt on my mouth like candy and it tasted delicious as its smell, it’s taste is like a jerky but more delicious.
Before I know it, I finished the full strip and took out the second one and about eat it when I stopped myself. I dont know if I am able to digest this dried meat or not. Unless I know I won’t be puking my guts out in a few minuits, I will not be eating it soon.
Gasp!
With that thought, I concentrated on my stomach and shocked to find that the dried beast meat that I had just eaten is already digesting and the energy created from it healing my injuries, some of the energy even went toward my blood Core and started healing it.
I am shocked seeing this as this jerky is doing similar work at the potion, the only difference is I have a limited number of potions but I have all the dried meat I want in my storage.
Is this meat special? I thought and took out a pouch of dried meat from my storage ring, I had killed many Baron orcs and nearly all of them had the dried meat pouches on them.
Crunch Crunch…
I chewed another slice of dried meat and a few seconds later I found it is doing the same thing done by the slice of dried meat I had eaten earlier, it had quickly digested and nearly all of its energies went toward healing.
I clearly know for sure that this does not happen when others drink dried meat, It only provides the energy and nothing else if that was not the meat of special beast that is expert in healing.
So, this means it is because of me and I dont have to think even a bit for a reason. It is my bloodline, my bloodline had made the changes into my body that I could not only digest the beast meat easily but I also could also covert its energy to healing energy and heal my energy.
Does that mean if I became injured, I just have to eat lots of beast meat and I could be good as new as long as meat give me enough energy to heal my injuries.
There are other technicalities of this strange ability but I am not going use my tired brain to think about it now, my first priority is to each as much as I can, so I could produce enough energy to heal my injuries.
Without delay, I started to much on the delicious Beat meat, while I am eating I am also keeping my senses alert for the enemy. The orcs are retreating now but that doesn’t mean they would leave the easy chance to attack, the Viscount or above level powerhouse just needed one casual attack to finish me off.
BBBBRRRRR….
I heard that Blazing horn again and hearing I felt a sigh of relief, now I just have to wait for fifteen minuits and after that, all the orcs will disappear. The horn I had just heard is the horn of the last retreat and the Orc airships will now wait for fifteen minuits before they flyway.
I could hear the sound of fighting above, so I am sure that it is not the destroyer that is helping in making the retreat, it is likely stalling our destroyer while Airships make the retreat.
The Orcs must have made a comprehensive plan before they ambushed the enemy in the enemy’s territory.
Time passed by as I kept munching on the delicious meat striped and the more I eat, the more my injuries got healed. In just fifteen minutes of me eating all the internal injuries, I’ve suffered have nearly healed and now most of the healing power is directed at my core which is healing slowly.
More than half an hour passed since the last horn sounded and injuries of my Blood Core are nearly healed, as soon as all the injuries of my blood core healed, I will go out of my hiding place.
Rustle Rustle…
I was busy munching on dried meat when I heard a loud rustling sound, it seemed like tens of people walking, and they dont seem to want to cover their sound, they even intentionally making the sound to draw out attention.
Seeing my injuries nearly healing, I pack all my stuff and stood up and not found far from me, a party of the ten some people and in those ten some people I saw a familiar person.

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Divine Progress
Progress is a dubious god. After failing him, three people are banished from modern times and sent to another world. Seemingly out of place, Christoph is snatched from his own time and plunged into a world of violence and magic with no deity to lend him support. Instead, Progress has seen fit to curse him with an eternal hunger for magical energy. Branded as a demon, he must fight for survival while battling the servants of the god who sent him there, struggling against the 'gift' that Progress bestowed upon him and the past he sought to abandon. Can he make his way across the lands and gather enough strength to survive without the blessings of the Divine? Or will the gods bend him to their will, breaking him if he seeks to resist? This is not a short story, and the plot will take many twists and turns before Christoph's journey comes to a close. After all, it is not the destination, but the Progress that matters in the end. Like many other stories on RoyalRoad, this is my first piece. Feedback is more than welcome, so please leave a reply if you have a comment or question.
