"Wait before you send me back or wake me up... whatever. What are those gems floating above us?"
{The brown gem is your dungeon core. As for the green gem, it has two functions. First, and this is its primary function, it is a fairy chrysalis. In your previous life, a fairy bonded with you and died alongside you. With the right catalyst, she will be reborn. The second function is engraved into the crystal, and it is trapping your memories inside. The Dungeon System controls the code written into the gem, and that is outside my authority.}
"SYS, why did you give her so much information, now I have to lock more up, and that crystal is getting full." A smooth voice echoed through the area. Turning around, a twenty-foot man with wings spanning thirty feet to either side stood staring at me. "Hello, little sister, sorry it's not yet time for us to meet, goodnight."
I wanted to protest, but I could already feel myself fading away.
"Nalle, why are you spacing out? We're leaving."
I heard when I came back to myself. Shaking my head, I look around. That was strange. I feel like I went somewhere, but I can't remember.
A tiny scaled hand grabbed my own. "Are you ok, Nalle? You're looking a little pale?"
"I'm fine, just had a dizzy spell, I guess. Let's catch up to the others."
"Kay, hey, I got a title. It's Guardian of light. It makes my barriers way stronger, cool, huh? Did you get one too?"
"Huh, oh ya, it's Elemental archmage. It makes my elemental damage stronger. Sorry Stacy, can we not talk for a little while? My head is killing me." With a nod, Stacy quietly walked beside me till we walked through the gate.
Unfortunately, the moment we all stepped through, we found ourselves in the center of the main hall, surrounded by a cheering crowd.
"Congratulations to our newest ascended adventurers." Said Marcus, clapping along with the crowd.
Strangely, I could feel wetness flowing over my lips. Moving my hand up, I see blood on my fingers. Reaching for Amy, "I don't feel too good," Is all I got out before my vision began to darken. As my consciousness faded, I heard a familiar voice in the crowd say. "Still just a burden to those around you, I see."
"What happened to Nalle," Father asked while looking at his child lying in bed.
"We're not sure. When we defeated Mr. Bark, she was fine. After we all leveled up, we took a moment to adjust to the power increase, and when we were ready to go, I noticed Nalle was still dazed. I told her we were leaving, and she seemed to snap out of it." Said Amy.
"When I was walking with her, she asked me to keep quiet for a little while cuz her head really hurt." Added Stacy with concern written on her features.

Charlotte placed a hand on Stacy's shoulder "don't worry. She will be fine. Nalle is a fighter."
"Also, Father Mr. Bark gave us a message from the dungeon. An invasion gate will open just outside its territory in about a month."
To Amy's surprise, Freeden only nodded at the message and returned to studying Nalle and Aleana sitting next to her, with her hand hovering over Nalle's brow. "Shouldn't we send a message to Uncle Triston?"
"Humph, he knows he has been watching us for the last ten minutes. Did Bark say anything else?"
"Not about the gate, but he said that the dungeon is in another plane or something," Charlotte said, confusion obvious in her voice.
Aleana chuckled "it's not in another plane. The dungeon is another plane. However, it is still a part of our world."
Charlotte sat back on the seat at the desk, grabbing Stacy and putting her on her lap. "I still don't understand."
Stacy turned in Charlotte's lap "it's ok, you just need to shoot stuff and step on traps for the rest of us." Causing Amy to snicker while Charlotte turned red.
The adults, however, turned to them in disapproval. "That is not a laughing matter," said Aleana to Amy.
"Sorry, Mother, you would have to have been there to understand."
"Alright, that's enough. Let's let Nalle rest for a while in peace," said Freeden, walking toward the door.
Later that night, Amy was woken by Nalle screaming in her sleep. "We did nothing wrong. You can't do this to us. Big brother, stop them, make them stop, please!"
Jumping up, Amy was ready to run to Nalle but found both of their parents standing over her with hands outstretched pouring Mana into Nalle's head.
"Dear whatever, this barrier is holding back those memories is cracking. We need to find some way to reinforce it. I won't allow my daughter to suffer those memories; I caught a fraction of them she can't handle it."
"What memories are you talking about, Mom? I thought they were just nightmares?"
With a sad, tired sigh, Aleana said. "Honestly, we don't know for sure what they are. That is the least farfetched theory we have come up with."
"At my second ascension, six months ago. I asked the world system about memories from past lives. The system told me except for extreme cases. No memory survives the soul's rebirth." Father said. "Wait, ascension. Did Nalle ask the system about her dreams and something happened to the barrier?"
Seeing both staring at her, Amy quickly said. "As I said, when we finished with our ascensions, she seemed dazed, but there was no Ah-ha moment. That she would have if she learned what those dreams were. Also, I didn't think of asking the system a question when it told me to choose a class."
"Most don't think about it their first-time, hun," Aleana said with a soft smile.

I am lost in a world of images. They seem to spin around me in never-ending loops. In one scene, I see a man-made stone. He sits on a throne as tall as a mountain while watching his children dance below. One breaks away and waves at me, then he sits on a seat of the blackest obsidian. He then conjures a stone staff and places a crown atop his head. The crown bears a brown gem that seems to draw me in, but no matter how fast I move forward, the throne stays the same distance.
I look at a group of fairies in the next scene, but unlike my gentle Tayna, these seem twisted. I can see them casting warped spells on gems that are screaming as they wrench their souls from their cores to be supplanted by perverted versions of themselves. When they turn to me, I try to flee, but I cannot move. I am also a gem with no legs to carry me away.
Sometimes the scene is of nothing. Silence with no end I can't see, smell or hear. I am not even aware of myself anymore. Or maybe I was never myself. There are hopeful scenes like being rescued from the darkness by a strange, undead man. An epic fight with the rock man, no longer the size of a mountain.
Finally, the scene changed to a family of winged people who look so scared as they are shackled and led away. The girl is screaming for her own brother's mercy.
"No, don't make me watch this again, please? Just let me go home."
Suddenly everything stopped, and a lone man walk's forward. His body looks as young as the other angel in the vision, but the eyes are ancient beyond my comprehension. "Oh, my Nalle, why do you keep coming back to this place? It is not yet time for you to take up my mantle."
I know this being he has many titles. Tyrant, Mathew, Lord of Chaos... Dad! "I want to go home. Please let me go home, Dad."
"Hush my Nalle," he sings a lullaby as he wraps his arms and wings around me, and soon I drift away from this frightening place.
"Mother, it's been nearly a month since she went to sleep. Maybe it's time for you to rest. Look, she has calmed down a lot recently, just lay down and sleep. I will wake you immediately if there is a change."
"No, it's time to bathe her."
"Stop, Yuri, and I can take care of that. You don't even have to leave the room. Just lay down on my bed and sleep for a few hours, at least. Look at it this way: the invasion could start at any moment. How can you protect Nalle if you're too tired to stand?"
"Alright, Amy, you win. I'll take a quick nap. How are Charlotte and Stacy doing?"
"They joined the defenders on the wall. I asked Ruskin to follow them for me. They also haven't slept enough lately."
"Neither have you," a tired Yuri said as she came in with the rag and water. The old servant of Mother's closely followed her.
"Sorry, Madam, Young Miss. I insist that all three of you get some sleep. I will watch Nalle for a while." Said the old servant. "That includes you, Yuri. You almost dropped off to sleep on your chores several times today."
"Yes, all of your sleep. Martha and I can handle looking after Nalle for a time." Said someone from the door.
Mother immediately rose, saying, "Your Majesty."
"Not today. Today I am your worried Aunt. Now get some sleep." Walking up to the bed, she waved her hand, and all three fell into a deep sleep, and Martha helped the Queen get them covered. "Now, let's see what's going on in that mind of yours, my troublesome dungeon."
"My Queen, Nalle has always had these night terrors, but not like the last month. She is shouting names. She should not know with the barrier still in place."
Turning her head to Martha, the Queen asked. "I assume they haven't figured out you're a member of the Elven council?"
"No, My Queen, although I think Freeden has his suspicions. He is quick, that man, fitting I suppose as the heir to the Elven throne."
"Hush, that's state secrets your spouting. Even Freeden himself is unaware of the council's decision." reprimanded the Queen, although Martha could see a small smile.
Placing her hand over Nalle's head, she focused and pushed her mind inside. Inside Nalle's mindscape, a green gem floated, with fractures showing on all sides. "Is this really what you want, Mathew?"
"It must happen. I will hold it together long enough for what must follow next. If things don't go as planned, Nalle will never exist. Who knows, without her in my life, I may never have protected this world for so long. Her birth changed me into a better person."
The Queen let out a tired sigh. "So it's almost time how much longer before Nalle wakes?"
"That depends. What waking do you mean? If the body, she should wake in a few hours. The soul will depend on how things progress. I set these gears spinning many millennia ago, and things don't always go according to plan. As is obvious by how many times I have had to repair this gem. Alright, Listandra, go. I need all my concentration on keeping the barrier intact until the right moment."
