《The Abandoned Disciple》Chapter 47

Booom!

A shock wave spread throughout the immortal cave pushing everyone back a step.

Hana spat out a mouthful of blood before collapsing.

Cornelius instantly appeared in front of Hana and caught her in his arms.

“What’s going on?” he asked Relic solemnly

“I’m not sure… I’ve never seen anything like this before. Just this morning we found out she was a true successor. Now….” Relic replied.

“What?! A true Successor!” Cornelius couldn’t help but look down at the little girl in his arms. Suddenly, he gasped in shock, “She’s already in the soulless warrior realm? Wasn’t she just a mortal this morning?”

Relic nodded slowly.

“This…were you like this in the past?”

“No, this is completely different to how I was in the past.” He crouched down and patted Hana’s head. He had a genuine expression of worry for his sister. “Not only is she a true successor, but now also the abyss constitution. Is this just a coincidence?”

The abyss constitution was one of several rare constitutions only seen in records. It was a constitution unlike any other, capable of providing the cultivator with limitless strength. With a voracious appetite, this constitution required large amounts of Qi in order for the cultivator to progress in cultivation. Those with low talents would often find themselves unable to progress a step, forever trapped within one realm. That is why the other name for the abyss constitution was the dream killer constitution. It has yet to be recorded of an abyss constitution cultivator to have ever stepped into the foundation realm.

What made Relic and Cornelius so shocked and lost for words, was not merely the fact that Hana was blessed with a rare constitution or became a true successor. What shocked them was the coincidence of receiving both of these gifts. A true successor was blessed with unparalleled talent under the heavens while an abyss constitution was plagued with an almost unbreakable ceiling to cultivate. However, with the two working in tandem, wouldn’t that mean she would essentially have solved the problems of the abyss constitution and would someday become the most powerful cultivator ever seen?

Cornelius quivered as he held the little girl in his arms. The little girl who could potentially someday stand at the true apex of cultivation lay unconscious in his arms.

After a moment, Cornelius straightened his back and turned to Relic. “I want to perform a spiritual purification on Hana. What do you think? ”

To any outsider, this scene would look incredibly strange. Someone as powerful as Cornelius was asking permission from a mortal boy to do something.

Spiritual purifications were a ritual in order to purify the mind and body. It was particularly helpful to those who suffered some sort of backlash after a break through as Hana did. However, spiritual purification was difficult to do unless performed by a powerful cultivator who had complete mastery over their qi. The other draw back was the fact that whoever was being performed on would be completely vulnerable to the person performing the ritual. Thus, there weren’t many who actually go through spiritual purification regularly.

Relic took a moment before nodding his head in agreement. A spiritual purification would definitely help Hana after her break through. Her body had never gone through any training and was more vulnerable to repercussions of cultivation than others. Of course Relic knew Cornelius also wanted to peer inside Hana’s dantian region but even Relic was curious on what he would find.

Cornelius carried Hana towards the lake of crystal clear spirit water. He continued towards the center of the lake where his lower half of the body was quickly submerged under water.

Hana’s body floated effortlessly on top of the clear water.

Cornelius then spoke a short incantation which immediately caused the spirit lake to glow a light blue light. A black haze slowly exited Hana’s body and into the lake. These were the impurities exiting Hana’s body.

Within a few moments, the black haze stopped and Hana carried a peaceful and serene expression.

He then shrouded his hand with Qi and proceeded to place it on Hana’s abdomen. Green light coursed through Hana’s body, healing and mending her body. Any remnants of the impurities left in her veins were also being cleansed from her body.

At the same time this was happening, Cornelius mind was scouting the region of Hana’s dantian space. His qi manifested a type of spirit form which was able to interact within the dantian space.

What he saw caused his eyes to bulge and his jaw to drop.

In front of him was Hana’s dantian which was protected by her spiritual root. Once a cultivator connected their dantian to a heavenly thread, their spiritual root would take form and hold the dantian in place. The spiritual root was essentially the measurement of talent a cultivator possessed. Normal spiritual roots would normally look like a stand which held the dantian on top.

However, what Cornelius was witnessing was no mere root. It was a gigantic spirit tree! It protected the dantian from all sides and even gave Cornelius a feeling of invulnerability. Even he would have to put in a little effort to reach the core of the dantian if he wanted to.

Aside from the spiritual root, there were also 12 orbs of light which floated not too far in the distance. Cornelius swallowed his saliva in disbelief.

These orbs of light represented Hana’s 12 meridians which acted as energy reserves for different parts of her body. It was said the amount of meridian orbs lit up indicated the future of a cultivators’ cultivation journey. 3-5 was the average and often indicated you would never go beyond the foundation realm. 6-8 was the realm of geniuses and some could even reach the golden world realm. From 9- 10, were those one in a hundred year monsters who were fated to become half a step to a full-fledged immortal ascension realm. Anything further than that…. Well those were only in legends.

“T-twelve fully lit up meridians. Is she the reincarnation of a goddess?” Cornelius couldn’t think of any other way to explain what he was seeing.

He continued to scout the area when he noticed an immaculate white bridge from a corner of the dantian. The bridge looked to be something which should not belong in this world. It brought a feeling of divinity and majesty. Cornelius felt his gaze averting from the bridge as if it was too heavenly for his bare eyes to lay upon.

“Is that… a door?” he squinted hard in an attempt to see the end of the white bridge but no matter how he focused, he couldn’t quite make out what was at the end of the bridge.

He descended on to the white bridge and almost immediately felt a crushing pressure. It was like the weight of the world was on his back and it brought him to his knees. “I-incredible, what is this bridge?” he said with a contorted look.

Suddenly, a deep reverberating sound could be heard inside his own dantian. Within his own dantian space was a golden sphere. Prior to stepping onto this bridge, the sphere had been slowly spinning, refining his spirit qi into immortal qi. However, after stepping on this bridge, he could feel the sphere spin slightly faster. “How can this be?! This bridge can actually increase the refining process of spirit Qi?!” His mind quickly fell into a state of complete shock. Never had he experienced so many shocking occurrences in one place. It was almost as if none of this was real and he was just dreaming.

If he were to cultivate in this area right now he would be shaving off years of cultivation! However, his sense of adventure got the better of him. If on the first step, the rate of refining was increased slightly, what would happen on the second step?

Cornelius lifted himself up against the huge pressure and took a huge breath before taking another step on the white bridge.

Boom!

Cornelius slammed down on to his knees.

The crushing pressure almost doubled and was now trying to push him off the bridge!

Cornelius quickly held onto the side of the bridge in order to stay on but contrary to his situation, a smile appeared on his face. “The rate…of refining…it has almost doubled.” He said, panting.

He wanted to cultivate on the spot but while the pressure he felt did not increase, the pushing force was increasing exponentially.

Fwoosh!

He was quickly blown of the white bridge and fell downwards to a sucking force.

Try as he might, as soon as Cornelius was blown off, he was already being sucked down into an abyss which rested below the dantian and spirit tree.

“AHHHHHHH!”

The screams echoed before his entire body vanished in the abyss.

….

Back in the immortal cave, Cornelius eyes snapped open.

He spat out a mouthful of blood and was extremely pale. Perspiration rained down his body and his body shook violently.

“What happened?!” Relic voice suddenly sounded.

Cornelius looked up to Relic’s confused face and calmed himself down.

“Let’s talk privately.” He said solemnly.

….

Cornelius settled Hana on the ground and told everything he saw to Relic within a silent bubble.

Relic displayed an array of shocked and terrified expressions as he listened to Cornelius’ recount.

“I can’t say much about the other things but the white bridge was definitely not something in born with Hana.” Cornelius had a hardened look.

“We can’t release this information to anyone.” Relic said.

“Agreed.” Cornelius nodded and continued, “Hana is very special and she must be guided in order to reach her full potential. I think it would be best suited for her to join our beast calamity sect.”

“No.”

Cornelius was slightly loss for words. He didn’t expect Relic to reject his offer just like that. He immediately frowned and asked, “Why not?”

“I have already decided a sect for her to go to.”

“Which sect could compare to ours?! While we may not be on the same level as the four supreme sects we have our own measures of protecting ourselves against them or any other sect.. Whether it be resources, combat arts, or training manuals, we have it all! ”

Cornelius truly understood the potential of Hana’s future. Someday, she would stand above all cultivators and could possibly be the catalyst which brings this era to the next. If he could affiliate her with the beast calamity sect then it would ensure the sect to prosper for many years to come. However, he would never force her into the sect as that may have the opposite affect than intended.

“We would welcome both of you into the higher echelons of the sect and I will personally recommend Hana to become a Legacy Disciple under the current Sect Master. We will definitely keep Hana’s secret from anyone else.” Cornelius did not try to hide any of his intention. “In fact, I can also guarantee we will provide her first beast blood bath with the blood of the Heavenly cloud treading dragon!”

Relic raised an eye brow but continued to shake his head. “The beast calamity sect definitely does not lose out to any other sect. I also have a generally good opinion of the people in that sect. ”

“Then…”

“But your sect is not strong enough to protect her if things go to hell!”

“Not strong enough?” Cornelius noticed a look of certainty of Relics face. As if Relic knew everything about the sect and still saw it as not enough. He suddenly remembered something and gave a sigh, “So, you even know about that do you?”

Relic nodded.

“Ah, Jun Po, what are you doing revealing so many secrets to other people.” He scratched his head in defeat. He knew he could no longer convince Relic to have Hana join his sect and gave up. “Then which sect are you planning to leave her at?”

“The Blind Swordsman Sect.”

“That sect… Yes, that would definitely be the best choice.” He could only sigh.

The Blind Swordsman Sect was a sect shrouded in mystery and secrecy. Many have tried to infiltrate their sects in order to plant some spies and learn of their secrets but no one has ever succeeded, not even the supreme sects. It wasn’t that the sect was hidden or anything but it was just impossible to enter its grounds if you weren’t a part of that sect.

Cornelius felt a little down having to give up on having Hana join his sect but perhaps it wasn’t meant to be.

“There are still somethings we must do here before we set off to travel. Hana doesn’t seem to enjoy listening to my lessons. If you don’t mind, would you mind taking over the role as her teacher?” Relic asked sincerely.

Cornelius entire body reacted at once when he heard those words.

“I’LL DO IT!” he instantly replied.
