In a room, in the Colosseum Ivys Vinnay said to an official. " Quick! End this match. Teleport Seth Thornheart away!"

"Yes Maam," an official said.

But then a familiar old man's voice sounded out in Ivys Vinnay's mind, " No! Leave it as it is!"

" But sir! Lucas will die. Yes, he is only E rank but he can control every element. He could be a capable leader of an F and E rank independent squadron."

" Do you wish to take this old mans fun away from him. I have lived a long life yet this boy keeps surprising me. Revealing something new each time. I want to see what happens when he is pushed to his limits. And don't worry I see his worth as a soldier. I will intervene when it's needed."

" Yes, sir. My apologies for talking back."

After that conversation, Ivys Vinnay told the official to stop the teleportation spell. And so it stopped.

In the arena, the white motes of light that were surrounding Seth Thornheart vanished. By this time there was nothing left of Seth Thornheart. He was completely under the control of the humanoid flame spirit. The fire around Seth Thornheart was still raging about. His eyes were still bloodshot. His veins were showing on his face and they were red.

With bloodshot eyes, the flame spirit (Seth Thornheart) looked at Lucas. And then it charged at him. Its speed was comparable to Lucas when he dashed. Because Seth Thornheart was well built. His body could sustain the pressure that was being placed on it. When Lucas saw the flame spirit charge at him he changed his tactic. From wanting to cast a spell to tactically retreating. So he used all the mana he had prepped and put it into his muscles. Afterwards, he got into position and then he screamed, " Fire Dragon's Retreating Speed Dash." And with that Lucas thumped his foot into the ground and lept to the side. Dashing at a speed superior to the flame spirit. While he was dashing he was prepping mana into his muscles as such he didn't stop dashing. As the flame spirit never stopped chasing Lucas. They were running in zigzags around the entire ring of the arena. It looked like a game of tag but deadly. It was quite a peculiar site for the spectators. They were wondering if this was even a battle between Mages. Some people who were watching from home wondered if they perhaps changed the station.

Once the flame spirit realized it never going to catch Lucas it switched tactic. Lucas and the flame spirit where now facing each other. They were 7 meters apart. Lucas had increased the distance when he saw the flame spirit stop. Lucas was still prepping his mana. When the flame spirit started shooting out large fireballs at Lucas. Because the flame spirit is a flame spirit. It did not require any time to cast fireballs. So it could continually cast fireballs only after a few it would have to cool down. But then it could do it all over again. Lucas placed all his mana into his muscles again and began dodging all the fireballs that came his way. It reminded him of dodgeball. A game he used to love and play when he was still in school. This not only rekindled those memories but it set them alight. Because now instead of going out when you get hit by a ball, you die. Or you get maimed.

Left, right. Left, right. Lucas dodged the incoming fireballs. They were extremely hot. If Lucas hadn't of gone through the trial by fire. The heat alone would hurt him. When the fire spirit saw that this wasn't working either. It made a new tactic. A few moments later it dashed at Lucas again. Where Lucas dashed away from the flame spirit prepping his mana during the dash. One minute later they were still running. Until the flame spirit screamed, " Prison of Fire". Suddenly a massive wall of fire. Standing 5 meters tall and 3 meters wide erupted in front of Lucas. So Lucas went left but another wall came about blocking his left. When Lucas looked to his right another wall erupted and then the last wall closing Lucas in a square prison of fire. The spectators couldn't see anymore so a lacrima drone flew over and recorded what was happening. Which was streamed on the viewers lacrimas.

Lucas remembered this move. He had used it on the E rank Mu Puma when he was fighting in the training room when test 3 first began. He felt like an idiot for falling for his own move. But regret could come later, now he needed to focus. So he began prepping his mana when suddenly the fire spirit that was currently on the outside of the wall walked through the wall of fire. It did not take any damage. As a fire spirit, it had a resistance to flames ( to a certain degree of heat). It smirked when it saw Lucas trapped. Now Lucas couldn't dodge its attacks so he was done for.

Lucas realized that he was in real trouble this time. Even though he was in a dire situation he wasn't scared. Then he thought "If this guy is using a fire spirit as a cheat. I'ma cheat too." Lucas had the ultimate cheat. He had a system. " Thea activate battle mode," Lucas thought.

[Took you long enough]

[ Battle mode activated]

" Thanks, Thea"

[Sure thing]

With battle mode activated Lucas was calm and composed. He was a lot calmer than before. Then he asked Thea, " Is there any way to stop this thing without having to kill the host? But if no then I don't mind ending his life. It's his own fault for letting the anger get the best of him."

[ Uhm, well yes there is a non-lethal way. Since we dealing with a fire spirit it's quite easy actually. In fact, the lethal option would be harder since this thing is WAYY stronger than you. Anyway, fire spirits especially humanoid ones are very prideful. They don't bow down to anyone. They are also a competitive species. However, in the past, this wasn't the case. In the past, the elemental spirits were held done by a superior spirit. The lightning spirit. So if this spirit sees lightning it will be so afraid that it will hide. Reverting control back to the boy. The only thing is that at your level you can't cast lightning spells. That's why you haven't seen them in the elemental column in the shop. You can create thunder though. Which is more than enough. When the spirit hears the rumble of thunder it will still be afraid... And yes, I know thunder is the direct result of lightning. Think of it like this. You can create lightning at your level but it's so small that all you left with is thunder.]

" Okay but how sure are you that thunder will work?"

" Oh wow. So how do I do this?"

" Easy, lightning is the combination of all four elements. So what you need to do is create four magic circles at once of each different element. Think of lightning. Then combine them into one and Bob's your uncle... Sorry I stole that phrase from your memory. You don't need a real spell since you not creating the real thing at a large scale. Oh, one last thing. I recommend you to put all your points into intelligence. You can still do it without it but it will take longer because this is your first time."

" Okay, thanks. I got it."

Then Lucas called his attributes forward. And put all 8 points into intelligence. Now he had nothing left.

Once he knew what to do, he began the plan immediately. He prepped his mana and then he held out his right arm. From it, a green magic circle appeared. The fire spirit saw Lucas bring up a green magic circle which meant earth. It remembered how Lucas had blocked its move before using an earth spell. So this time it was not going to take chances. The fire spirit began chanting and then a gigantic red circle hovered above its head and from it, a fireball was forming. The fire spirit didn't have to chant spells but it did if it wanted it to be stronger. The fire spirit knew that Lucas couldn't run anywhere so it had all the time in the world. And whatever Lucas was doing was futile so it took its time. So it could destroy Lucas thoroughly.

After doing the earth magic circle Lucas prepped his mana and then extended his left hand. Then a red magic circle appeared. The fire spirit saw the new magic circle and mocked Lucas for it. Did Lucas not realize the FIRE spirit was immune to flames? So it just continued with its spell. Once Lucas was done with the fire. He prepped his mana and then tried to bring forth a new magic circle. It was finally getting difficult. It was hard to bring forth a new magic circle without releasing the rest of them. Lucas was struggling for a bit until he finally got it. When he did a white magic circle appeared in front of the red one. When the fire spirit saw this it nodded its head. Clearly, Lucas realised that ordinary flames wouldn't beat it so he was going to buff the fire with wind. Even though he admired Lucas's effort. That in itself was done from a place of disdain. As the spirit knew no matter what Lucas tried it couldn't hurt it with fire.

Once the wind was done. Lucas prepped his mana. And then tried to bring forth the last magic circle. This was extremely difficult. Lucas had to forgo keeping his attention divided between the flame spirit and the spell. Now he only focused on the spell and nothing else. Yet it was still difficult. After Lucas's focus reached an all-time high he was able to create the last magic circle. Suddenly a blue magic circle appeared in front of the green. When the flame spirit saw this. It thought Lucas was upping his defence by using the two elements that counter fire. So the fire spirit continued to grow his fireball. It was nearing the end. The size of the fireball was as big as a boulder and was extremely hot.

Once Lucas completed his fourth magic circle all he needed to do was combine them. Surprisingly this was the easiest part. Lucas simultaneously joined the white and red magic circles together. As well as the green and blue magic circles together. When the magic circles combined the design of the magic circle changed. The outer circle had more ancient writings and was spinning faster. Plus two smaller duplicate magic circles of the bigger one appeared. However, they were much smaller in size. They attached themselves to the circumference of the outer ring on the top of the magic circle and the bottom. When the fire spirit saw this it was alarmed. It did not think Lucas was smart enough to be able to combine the two magic circles. Let alone combine four individuals into two. It assumed Lucas placed them in front of one another to fire independently. Which would then cause the two spells to combine outside the magic circle instead of from the magic circle. Combining magic circles is advanced magic. Magic like this could pose a threat to the fire spirit. So it increased its cast speed. As it began panicking.

But then something happened that left the flame spirit flabbergasted. Lucas combined the combined magic circles into one. Making a purple magic circle. The combination further changed the structure of the magic circle. Now it had three minicircles. Shaped like a triangle on the circumference of the magic circle. One at the top and two at the bottom. There was more ancient writing on the outer circle. And in the middle of the circle was a star with four points. In the middle of the four-point star was an ancient symbol. Once the fire spirit saw the new magic circle it felt fear all the way to the bottom of its soul. It recognised this magic circle. It hadn't seen it in centuries. The spirit was so scared that it stopped casting its spell. It just looked at the purple magic circle.

Once Lucas was done Lucas looked at the fire spirit and then said, " Lightning." Suddenly a loud bang and several rumbles filled the arena. Travelling across the sky. All the creatures nearby the Colosseum ran away. From above you could see flocks and flocks of birds flying away. As well as you could hear the stampede of creatures retreating. When Lucas stopped looking at the birds he put his hand down. Then looked at Seth Thornheart who was lying unconscious on the ground. The fire spirit had fled the second it heard the rumblings and then the animals reacting to the rumblings as proof. Once it went into hibernation Seth Thornheart regained control over his body. But he was mentally exhausted so thus he was unconscious.

In a luxury box in the Colosseum, an old man was going ballistic. So happy he was. " I knew it! This boy always finds a way to surprise me. Not only does he have four elements. They are his natural elements. That is why the crystal didn't pick it up. For they are not his additional elements but rather his natural ones. Which explains the mutation of his skin. When you mix red, blue and green you get black. Aaaah I have lived a long life and my road ends soon. This was something I was looking forward to. But after seeing this boy I would love to see what he can accomplish. Even if it is somewhat limited. He can already combine two spells together. And then he combined four all in one. Magnificent! If I was not here today and someone told me what I just saw. I wouldn't believe it. Who would believe that some kid from the sticks has four natural elements? And is able to combine them into one spell. Unbelievable, simply unbelievable... Lightningstorm hey... I take my words back. It's not a conceited surname. It's perfect!

When Ivys Vinnay saw that the fight could now be concluded she had Seth Thornheart teleported from the stage. In fact, she did it herself to make sure the old man didn't but in again. Once Seth Thornheart left the arena. The crowd was left speechless. The reality had sunk in. Lucas had won the tournament. They couldn't believe it. But when one person began clapping in the stands. Everyone did. People joined in one for one until the whole stadium was on their feet clapping their hands. When Lucas saw the praise he was getting he smiled and then waved to the crowd to show his appreciation. Once the cheering died down Ivys Vinnay appeared in the arena.

She teleported next to Lucas. Giving him a quick once over. Then she said, " Well done brave champion. You are definitely worthy of being called The King of The First Years. You have a tremendous amount of talent. Reckwerth is proud to have you here. And to the spectators. Thank you for voting and cheering on the contestants. Without you, this wouldn't be possible. Anyway, that concludes our first mixed first-year tournament. Hope you enjoyed it. Come again next year."
