The next morning everything proceeded like normal. They woke up and ate breakfast. Layla Palmer seemed to be in a bad mood after she was done eating which was strange...

" I know, I know. But how long until I reach your level...?"

" You haven't tried the food of this world yet... So maybe it's even better than mine? I just got here... It would stupid to think my food beats all of them."

" Maybe..." Layla Palmer said finally revealing a smiling.

Lucas was startled by her smile. The apple of longevity really had a positive effect on her. Lucas then said, " Anyways get ready we leave in 20 minutes. So go take a bath in the river. I don't know, do something..."

With that Layla Palmer went to wash in the river. Lucas, on the other hand, was really excited about the new perks that came with the system. He wanted to test them out immediately or at least find out what they are.

"System got upgraded can you please explain to me what I can do with that?" Lucas expected to hear the systems voice inside his head but it was dead quiet.

Lucas was confused as this was the first time this had happened after a direct and clear question. But he tried again, "System got upgraded. Can you please explain to me what I can do with that?" But just like last time, there was silence...

Lucas was getting annoyed now. His facial expression started tensing up. But again he asked this time changing the words slightly, " System! Explain to me what the perks of system level 3 is!" However, not to Lucas's surprise, there was silence.

"So much for system sentience. It got dumber, not smarter! It can't even understand what I'm saying anymore," Lucas said aloud.

[You take that back!] An unfamiliar voice spoke in Lucas's head.

" Take what back?" Lucas thought.

[ I did not get dumber. I got smarter, you take that back!] When this was said, Lucas knew it was the system.

"Why would I take it back," Lucas said as he furrowed his eyebrows. " I asked System a question 3 times! Each of my questions got silence as a response. I have every right to question your intelligence!"

[That's because you have yet to configure my new settings. And please stop calling me System! From now on I may be given a name.]

" New settings... A name?"

[ Yes due to gaining sentience I have gained a degree of self-awareness. That's why my voice has changed. Your brainwaves told me that this is the best female voice to use. Also, I will no longer be referred to as System. That name is appalling. Please choose a better name for me. If you continue to call me System I will not reply.]

Lucas now knew that the reason the System didn't reply was that he called her System, such a petty Ai. Lucas then began thinking of names for her. He came across a few but decided against them. Until he remembered one.

" What about Thea?"

" Why Thea?"

"Lucas means light, derived from Lucifer which means illumination. Thea also means light in a sense. Thea is the Greek Goddess of light. I thought being as that we are one, your name should have the same meaning as mine. And of course, if you need a surname it will be lightningstorm that's our clan name."

[ Thea Lightningstorm, I like it. You really put some work into it.]

" So know that that's out the way. Can you please tell me about your new functions?"

[ Sure Lucas. Well, for starters the new thing you can do is marking. Once you have entered combat mode. And you spot targets from a distance you can mark them. First, you scout 500 meters ahead of you in whichever direction. Once you do I will create a map for you that you pull up. The marked targets will be displayed on this map as a red dot. And the marked targets themselves will have an orange arrow pointing down on their heads. Showing they have been marked. Anything can be marked inanimate or animate. Your mark limit is only 10 targets at your current combat mode level. This is a unique skill as such this cannot be detected by spells and spiritual sense type skills. Only by the use of another unique skill can this be detected.

You know of system sentience. This refers to me gaining more self-awareness and becoming more human-like. The higher my level, the more human-like I will become. Thirdly, a new perk you have unlocked is a sub-class. Since your primary class is Mage, this means you get to choose from the following sub-classes. Necromancer, Summoner, Arcane specialist, Blood Mage, Time Mage and Elemental Mage. Choosing a sub-class will buff the spells of that subclass that you cast in every aspect. Subsequently, it will decrease the effectiveness of any other spell you cast. So when choosing a sub-class, you need to make sure that's the route you want to take.

Lastly, attribute check. I told you previously that I needed to be level three before you could use this. Now that I'm level 3 you can check the attributes of all things. This could make you a master appraiser. You can only see the attributes of anything as long as it's not 30 levels above you. People with the right Unique skills can prevent you from seeing their attributes. People that use skills to prevent you from looking at their attributes, will still have their attributes seen. However, now this can only be done by people up to 20 levels above you. That's about it for now, are you satisfied with my explanation?]

Lucas said jovially, " Yes, I am thank you, Thea!"

Lucas wanted to test the attribute check immediately so he looked at tree 11 meters in front of him. He then called out in his head " Attribute check" and a list of details popped up like a screen in front of him.

Lucas was happy he could finally see all of this. It was as if the tree was naked before his eyes. He then wondered, could he perhaps see the three sizes of a girl too... But he discarded that perverted idea.

Soon afterwards Layla had finishing washing up. So Lucas and Layla Palmer cleaned up after themselves. Leaving the forest as clean as they found it. Afterwards, Lucas said, " Are you ready to go."

Layla Palmer replied with a bunch of mixed emotions and said, " Yes!"
