《Shayde》4. The Strongest Ability

“He’s gone?” I asked myself in complete confusion.
“Where did he go? What happened? Was he attacked? Is this the enemy’s ability?” All these questions flew through my mind but before I knew it I had begun to stumbled out of utter confusion. I fell onto the floor around the corner leaving myself wide open. As I peered down the alleyway, I could see what looked like a throwing knife being hurdled towards me.
“Shit, I’m gonna get hit!” I said to myself as I attempted to get myself back on my feet in time to dodge. Just as the knife was about to hit me Diablo reappeared and blocked it using a throwing knife of his own.
“I said be ready to fight.” Sneered Diablo angrily.
“So your ability is to conceal yourself and become invisible huh?” The killer spoke in a maniacal manner, almost as if he was completely confident that whatever his ability was would be able to beat Diablos.
I picked myself up without saying a word standing side by side next to Diablo who had a much more serious look on his face than usual. We stood around 6 meters from him, the end of the alley way was blocked off by a large wall, so he had no where to run, even if we were a little a way.
“We don’t know if he has some sort of special ability so keep your distance for now.” Said Diablo analysing the situation. The killer stood at the end of the alleyway staring at us devilishly. Without a doubt this was him, he was one hundred percent the killer. However, how did Diablo know that the person who attacked the guard station was the same one committing the murders? He must know more than he lets on…
“We’ll move slowly and try restrain him.” Diablo whispered while taking small steps forward.
The second we even moved an inch forward the killer lunged forward at us, a blue transparent fog forming in his right hand.
“Get back Shay!!” Diablo yelled while jumping forward with great speed straight at the killer.
When Diablo got close the Killer it was revealed that the blue fog forming in his hand was an ice type attack. This meant the Killers ability was ice type elemental attacks. It seemed like Diablo also notice this, but he was too close. He had no way to dodge his ice attack.
“Diablo look out!” I screamed trying to warn him, but it was too late. The ice blade had already formed in the killer’s hand and was centimetres from piercing Diablos left side.
-A FATAL BLOW!?!?!?!-

Back at the guard station, Zane’s point of view.
“Do you think they managed to find the attacker Zane?” Asked Paul nervously.
“I couldn’t say.” Replied Zane. “I know we were ordered to stay here but I can’t help but shake this uneasy feeling.”
“Do you think something bad happened?” Replied Paul.
“Not sure, but I just have a bad feeling, let’s go come on.” Zane announced as he started making his way through the streets towards Shay and Diablo.
“Are you sure about this? We were ordered to stay here after all.” Addressed Paul.
”Come on, we should go head in the direction they went. They might need back up.” Replied Zane, completely ignoring Pauls queries.
This guy just does what he wants eh? Paul thought to himself.

“Huh, who’s that guy running?” Said Paul, pointing at a man dressed in an all-black suit with a white undershirt and black tie.
“He looks suspicious, he’s looking behind him as if he is checking to see if someone is following him. Maybe that’s the guy Diablo and Shay ran after.” Said Zane. “Come on let’s follow after him, he might be the terrorist who attacked the Guard’s station just now.”
The two of them bolted after him running through the streets making sure they didn’t lose sight of him.
“He seems to of noticed us and has sped up Paul.” Said Zane looking to Paul to see he is struggling to keep up. “I’m going to speed up Paul, just catch up in your own time. I don’t want to lose this guy.”
Zane sped up and rounded a corner following the black suited man.
“Huh? This guy. He’s heading straight for the abandoned part of the city. What’s his deal?” The two of them raced and dashed across the city, Zane had used all his worth and had actually covered a lot of ground and was close to catching him. The two neared the abandoned relic part of the city. This was an open area covered in grass and old bricks and what were left from castles. The area was about the size of a small football field and it was tucked away, hidden in the city by walls and alleyways.
The unknown man in black stood firmly on one of the old bricks and begun his speech.
“I lured you here out of the way of the others. Here I can fully divulge you in what we are.” He went on.
“We are an upcoming syndicate. We plan on starting war with the other kingdoms and plunging the world into chaos. We-“
“Well, why.” Interrupted Zane.
“What…” The unknown man replied.
“I mean what I mean. Why.” Said Zane coldly.
“So, we can rule the world from the side lines, controlling everyone and forcing them to fight while we profit from the never-ending war.” Announced the mysterious man.
“Okay, then what?” Zane said blankly, making direct eye contact with the man, coldly shunning him and his ideals.
The man was speechless. “It’s as if you don’t even know what you want to do, like you are only doing it for fun and after a while you will get bored and just cause issues for people without actually following through with your ideals. You come across as weak minded and pathetic to me. I mean did you even think through this plan of yours? It seems flawed in so many ways.”
The man in black stood there for 10 seconds saying nothing with a shocked expression on his face. The uttered the words “You don’t understand.” Before lunging at Zane.
Zane dodged easily, weaving out of his flurry of punches. “So, your style in an unarmed martial arts type attacked.” Zane said as he unsheathed his sword getting ready to counter.
The two of them zipped around, jumping and dancing through the open area, Zane dodging and blocking every attack that the unknown man could throw at him.
“You thought you could overthrow the kingdom with this kind of power? You must be joking.” Scoffed Zane poking fun at the man.
In anger and frustration at Zane’s remarks the unknown man attacked with all his power, throwing all his weight into one long heavy punch, This was the attack Zane was waiting for, Zane then jumped back and readied his sword for a counter attack. The unknown man was still recovering from throwing all his body weight into one punch which Zane took advantage of, slashing the unknown mans arm clean off. The man tumbled forward in pain towards Zane who side stepped to the left then kicked him with great force into a wall.

“It’s over.” Said Zane.
The unknown man began laughing and snickering. “You thought I was endlessly attacking you?! Take a look around!!” Zane looked around to see black orbs now flying around him.
“I had been placing them on the floor while we fought, I don’t know how a new Guard like you got so powerful that it forced me to lose an arm to win, but my resolve will prevail.” Screamed the unknown man. “My name is Chase. Welcome to my new world!” he yelled.
“Man. You’ve completely lost your marbles huh?”
Chase looked up a sense of shock on his face as he saw the unconcerned and relaxed manner in that Zane stood there.
How can he stand there so calm despite being surrounded in my exploding orbs!!! Thought Chase.
“Did you think I wouldn’t notice or something? Here is your mistake, you tried fighting me without knowing my ability or what I’m capable of, that’s why I spent so long dodging you.” Said Zane confidently.
His ability? Thought Chase.
I can see and sense when someone uses an energy-oriented attack. So basically, I could see all your magic manifesting at the bottom of your body as you placed your orb bombs on the ground.
“So, what!” Screamed Chase. “Even if you could see it there is no way you can dodge! I’ve won!”
This guy doesn’t get it, I never said I only had one ability. That is just my sub ability. Well, no matter I guess he won’t know how he died. He is too rash. Said Zane.
-BOOM!!!!!!!!!!- Chase had activated his orb bombs, there was a time of silence after the explosion had finished, no movement could be seen or heard within the atmosphere, smoke lay in front of him obscuring his view. He finally stood up holding his right arm which had been cut of previously.
“I suppose I should get out of here before the other Guards make it here, that explosion was rather loud.” Chase began to laugh menacingly at his victory.
“Leave without saying goodbye?” Said Zane standing right in front of Chase blocking the exit.
“But how?!” Shrieked Chase, aware that he was no longer a match for Zane in his current state.
“You don’t listen or think things through. I wasn’t done telling you why you had lost.”
Chase fell back on himself and began grovelling at the floor. “TELL ME!! WHY! WHY DID I LOSE!” he began begging for an answer as he sat on the floor looking up at Zane with a worried look on his face.”
“My ability is to create a copy of myself which can move within 5 meters from me, I can trade my consciousness with it as it has a will of its own, I just give it commands subconsciously. If I focus my energy, I can allow it to interact with things however, the radius of where it can move is limited from 5 meters to 1 meter. That is why you lost, I just switched consciousness before you activated the explosion.”
Chase looked at the floor in defeat. “Come on, you’re coming with me. I’ll be taking you in now for questioning.” Said Zane who looked utterly disgusted at the sight of Chase.

Shay and Diablo vs Unknown Ice User.
Diablo and the unknown man went straight at each other however Diablo was a little slower. The man in white had already use his ability to create an ice sword and was close to slashing into Diablo.
“Diablo look out!” I screamed trying to warn him, but it was too late, there was no way for him to dodge at this range, even if he jumped back, he would be slashed across the chest.
Just then Diablo disappeared! He was gone again, just like before!
Even if he turns invisible, he doesn’t have the room to dodge, the man in white can just continue to slash and hit him. He can’t move! Thought Shay who was sweating at the situation.
-SLASH!!!-
The unknown man in white had slash right in front of him where Diablo was, but- nothing happened. There was no blood, no noise of the ice blade hitting Diablo, no nothing.
But he couldn’t of dodge! There was no way for him to. Even the man in whites face was struck with complete confusion.
Just then Diablo re-appeared right behind him and punched him in the back of the head at full power, sending him tumbling towards me.
“My ability isn’t turning invisible; you are mistaken there. I can skip through time for up to 3 seconds. I just skipped through you and dodged your attack. You’re finished.” Announced Diablo standing tall and confident.
The man in white lay on the floor next to me. “You bastard!” He said clinging to the wall the hoister himself up. Diablo began to strut towards him. “Now, why don’t you tell me where your friend is, the one who can use the explosion ability.”
The man gave him an annoyed look.
“I know you don’t have that ability since you would of use it at the entrance of this alleyway instead of throwing a knife at us. So come on, speak up.”
The man in white looked around maniacally as if to look for some form of escape. After 2 seconds of peering around he looked straight at me.
“Shay! Look out!” Roared Diablo as he began to run towards me.
Before I had realised, I had turned to ice, so he can control Ice like this, not just create ice weapons. Darn I should have known.
The man in white began running away but I was frozen, I shot Diablo a look as to say go after him which he did. I was left to escape on my own. I wasn’t used to the cold and this ice was at least 70 degrees F (21 degrees C), enough to kill a human, I only had a around 20 minutes before I would lose consciousness due to my inability to handle cold weather. I had to figure out to escape by then.
20 minutes remained before loss of consciousness…
