《Queen Of Alcaria》Chapter 39 - Using Potion on Sir Gregory

It didn’t take long for Kaelyn to find Sir Gregory and escort him back to Talia’s room.
Sir Gregory didn’t understand why Talia needed to him so urgently and why the need for any secrecy behind it all but he still followed obediently anyways.
He didn’t think Talia was the type to be dishonest about serious matters though he didn’t know what surprise Talia could have for him.
Arriving at the room they saw the awaiting Talia who smiled brightly upon seeing Sir Gregory.
“Welcome, welcome, hurry close the door, I got something important to show you,” Talia said a bit too excitably.
After surviving a near-death experience in the game world she unknowingly became a lot more open to Kaelyn and Sir Gregory the two closest to her in this world, realising she can die at any moment she no longer restrained herself in front of them acting more casually.
Sir Gregory's facial expression twitched slightly seeing the bubbly Princess approaching him happily dragging him into the room with surprising strength.
He had not seen Talia this joyful and carefree since she was a child, usually, although the Princess tried to hide it she came across on times a bit guarded and burdened like she had a great weight on top of her shoulders.
Seeing the Princess this happy was infectious, unknowingly a slight smile formed on his lips before quickly disappearing.
Talia who was distracted thinking about how to explain to them about the potions she retrieved from the other world did not notice this slight change, Kaelyn, on the other hand, seeing the usual calm, collected Sir Gregory smile slightly thought she was seeing things.
‘Did I just see Sir smile? The past week must be having a bigger effect on my mind than I previously thought.’ Kaelyn dismissed the sight as being a part of her imagination.
“Your highness… so you mentioned wanting to share something of great importance?” Sir Gregory hinted his eyes glancing at Talia’s hand who was still gripping his tightly.
Talia noticing she unknowingly grasped Sir Gregory’s hand in a hurry blushed slightly quickly letting go of his hand before reaching under her bed pulling out the familiar box full of potions identical to the one she received from the Thomas Family in the game world.
She had already tested removing items outside of her inventory in this world finding it depletes a certain amount of her essence reserves.
Discovering the method was a simple one, although she would not be able to take item after item continuously since she would need to recover her essence from the expenditure it would not be difficult to pull one or two trump-cards out of thin air in the future to surprise her enemies.

Talia also found out the energy in the surroundings was similar to what was found in the game world, indicating both Worlds are connected in some way, the differences were that the culture and cultivation methods meant that the ‘NPCs’ in the game world harnessed the power using a different means.
She had this conjecture before but only after she had spent more time with Sir Gregory, and tested the inventory function had she confirmed her theory.
Her situation was a unique one from everyone else in the first place, no one in the game world seemed to share a system similar to her, she knew it was an ability only available to her. The natives of the game world use cultivation techniques similar to this one, but both use the energy, ‘essence’ differently.
‘It seems my situation is even more mysterious than I thought’ Talia deduced in her mind putting these thoughts to the side as she around turned to face Kaelyn and Sir Gregory proudly presenting the box of potions.
“Princess… may I ask what these are?” Sir Gregory asked questionably not recognising the potions at all.
Talia who had long prepared a suitable explanation replied, “An inheritance left behind by my parents… it was kept a secret only to be used when I find it appropriate and now I think is an as good time as any!”
Talia quickly weaved up a story on how she obtained the potions, there will be a point in which she would be more truthful with them but since they are in dire straits at the moment she didn’t want to worry them further.
At the same time she felt a strong feeling that she should keep the ‘game world’ secretive, she did not feel it was the right moment to share anything with enemies all around.
“Inheritance? What effects do they have?” Sir Gregory said with a puzzled look on his face.
Being a close confidant to the King he knew roughly everything about essential matters, nonetheless this ‘inheritance’ sounded completely new to him.
“Yes! These potions have immediate effects on combat strength without repercussions! They will strengthen a Warriors physiques a good amount!” Talia said excitedly.
“Princess… is this for sure the truth?” Sir Gregory said with great seriousness, he knew about such potions which met the requirements which Talia mentioned yet these were potions made only by top-notch alchemists using expensive materials.
Even at the Kingdom’s peak, they did not have any alchemist capable of making such potions, now Talia held a box of them in front of him making even the loyal Sir Gregory feel a bit sceptical.

Feeling the scrutinising gaze of Sir Gregory, Talia couldn’t help but blush lightly realising how ridiculous she must be sounding.
“Look! It may seem highly unlikely but haven’t you been questioning my growth lately? I will openly admit a lot it had to do with these potions!” Talia said using the mystery of her rapid strength gain to make her sound more believable.
Sir Gregory's eyes widened in acknowledgement realising that the Princesses strength gain has been quick even for a genius, he just thought it was due to repressing her talent for a long time but maybe this inheritance did contribute?
Talia smiled knowing she had convinced Sir Gregory, however, she still wanted to demonstrate the effectiveness personally, “How about you try a potion now Sir! These are effective even for someone of your strength!”
Upon hearing Talia Sir Gregory straight away refused, “These should only be used for the young trainees full of potential! It would be a waste on an old man such as myself.”
“I still see you're harbouring some doubts, so testing it on yourself will remove those completely, at the same time these can only be used once per person, there are enough options for every trainee and more! At the moment you are my greatest backer, I need you to be your best, so for me, this would never be a waste of resources…” Talia refuted calmly.
Sir Gregory has been the biggest pillar of support for her since awakening in this world, she already felt like he owed him for everything he has been doing for her, at the same time she needed him to be as best with the Governor looming in the background.
Seeing how resolute Talia was, Sir Gregory knew she wouldn’t take no for an answer, sighing at how the girl was already resembling her Fathers stubbornness, he straightforwardly grabbed a potion passed to him by Talia.
“As you wish your highness,” Sir Gregory said before downing a potion, he was curious about the effects anyways, and the Princess gave him a good enough reason for him to use one.
For a moment he thought that the Princess had been overexaggerating the effects since he felt only a slight tingling sensation.
Yet this quickly transformed into a burning feeling which even caused a battle-hardened veteran like himself to grit his teeth.
Suddenly a surge of vitality filled his body as he couldn’t help but take a knee as he felt a sense of fullness in his muscles as the oddness of his physique being augmented rapidly filled his body.
“What the…?” Sir Gregory said shocked realising something unbelievable.
Not only did he feel his physical body strengthened by not a small amount but his injuries caused by the battle years ago had actually healed somewhat.
Feeling a brand new surge of strength Sir Gregory struck out a fist with a much smoother, swifter rhythm than he had previously.
“This is incredible…” Sir Gregory said in awe. His injuries were supposed to be untreatable with the only figures having a chance to cure his condition being the top Alchemists or Light Mages of the Empire, something far out of his reach.
However now this potion Talia brought out of nowhere was able to actually bring about such an effect on his injuries.
Talia let out a satisfied smile at seeing Sir Gregory’s newfound strength, as someone who had been training sword arts she already noticed that Sir Gregory's whole poise seemed to be straighter than before just from his slight movements.
‘I believed the potion may have an effect on his injuries upon hearing about the nature of it since it effectively remodels the body… however the effect seems to be a bit better than I thought’ Talia said noticing from Sir Gregory’s reaction the effect was not small.
“These potions are great treasures! I will agree with your plan straight away, although it is a great shame to use such precious resources, the kingdom needs to be rebuilt with fresh talent, and I trust these trainees will follow the Princess loyally!” Sir Gregory said.
Talia smiled seeing Sir Gregory share similar thoughts with her, “Then let’s hand these over quickly! I want to see those arrogant nobles' reaction when they realise those who they look down upon are far stronger than they think!”

Earth has finally qualified... ...and participation is mandatory. A twenty-nine year old data entry clerk works together with a group of internationally diverse players to survive. Learning synergistic skills and using teamwork, can humanity achieve an upset? If they don't, their lives are forfeit. Author's note: Chapters will be anywhere from 6k to 10k in words, varying based on the plot beats instead of specific word counts. Realistic actions and teamwork will be important aspects of my story. I'm trying something a little different in writing a realism focused litRPG, hoping to capture the essence of how real people would react to their situation. People are complex and don't always get along. I don't recommend starting the series expecting wish fulfillment tropes just because it's tagged litRPG. It's a survival story with the game settings on Hell difficulty. The plot hasn't gotten there yet, but in the future of the series I want to recreate my nostalgia of forty person raids on Ragnaros, but with the high stakes of boss battles in Sword Art Online. I also love puzzle rooms so expect one of those each book. Warnings: mild PG-rated language, graphic violence and gore, and graphic medical content.
