《Listonia Online》Chapter 32 - Boss Fight!

The group cautiously made their way forward with Gii and Queen at the front of the pack to intercept any potential attacks. The room was fairly sizable at about 40ft wide and 50ft long. Sitting on a stone throne on the opposite side of the room was a large 20ft tall Golem that had many runes engraved into its body. As the group approached the center of the room, the doors behind them slid closed and the room itself began to rumble as the runes on the Golem lit up. It's eyes flickered with a light blue color as it stood up from it's throne and grew to its full height of around 40ft. Although the ceilings in this room looked to be about 50ft tall, if the golem reached its arms out to their full length, it would be able to touch the ceiling. Gii scanned the golem and took in its information as he approached.
[Legendary Golem: Level 100]
As everyone approached, Gii had already rushed out to the front because he knew how difficult this fight would be. The rest of the group groaned and complained.
"Dammit this is too much! It's way too strong!"
"How the hell are we supposed to beat that thing!?"
"Everyone calm down, Let's stick with the plan!"
Dan calmed everyone down and allowed them to refocus. Their current task was to gather data about the boss's different abilities and how strong it was. As they looked over the information available to them, they were able to determine that it only had around 5000 hp, which was only a little more than double the greater golems that they had to fight earlier in the dungeon. Considering the boss was on it's own, it was not impossible to whittle its health away as they could focus all of their firepower on it.
Gii was able to run up into melee range while activating his punishment buffs like they had agreed on beforehand. As he had the largest health pool and was the most likely to survive an attack from the boss, it was his responsibility to figure out its damage output. The large golem took the bait and slammed its fist down towards Gii who braced for the impact.
[-1072]
Everyone's faces paled as they saw the damage output but were not deterred. Fatal kept to his task and closed the distance to unleash a massive strike against the body of the golem.
[-496]
Although it was significantly lower than he was hoping, the damage output would definitely be enough to slowly eat away at the health of the golem, assuming nobody else got hit by its attacks. As they were thinking along these lines, the runes on the golem lit up and a magical aura encompassed it. A blue magical light started condensing into its chest area before blasting outward with the golem as its center. Small rocks imbued with magical light blasted outward and smashed into everyone except Rebel and Term who had been hanging back looking for an opportunity to strike. Gii saw a damage number appear as well as a notification.

-50% Attack Speed
As Gii was in the process of attacking when he was hit, he could immediately feel his body become sluggish and the golem was able to move out of the way before he could attack. Pixie and Sun could also feel the sluggish nature as they tried to activate their different spells and abilities. Although healing was not an attack, Gii knew that Attack speed was one of the hidden abilities that was used to calculate the activation speed of spells. It was always one of the most important hidden stats that players would have to pay attention to, which is why any buffs or debuffs to that stat would be incredibly impactful.
As one of the only ones who was not affected, Term immediately rushed in to unleash some attacks on the golem as Pixie was barely able to get a heal off on Gii.

[-147]
Term was able to jump out of its attack range afterwards but the golem aimed its attack to the one who had dealt the most damage in Fatal and landed a vicious blow before he could dodge out of the way completely
[-1121]
Fatal immediately faltered and used the momentum from the attack to withdraw. If he had been hit by that attack when they first entered the dungeon, it absolutely would have insta-killed him! Fortunately, the fights along the way had allowed him to level up and boost his health a bit to the point where he had just over 1300HP which allowed him to escape by the skin of his teeth. Sun realized this as well as he quickly changed his plan from attacking to healing and ran over to Fatal's side while preparing his strongest healing spell.
Rebel took this opportunity to dash out of the shadows and land a few blows on the boss's head.
Critical Hit!

Critical Hit!
[-164]
Despite the fact that she was able to score some critical hits on the golem with her sneak attack, the monstrous resistance plus the tier gap resulted in most of the damage being mitigated. Rebel immediately dashed to the back of the group and moved out of the Golem's Attack range. It was at this point that there was a shout from Dan and another notification popped up in front of Gii and the others
You have been effected by the Battlefield Shout effect
+30% Attack Speed
+10% Increased chance to resist status effects
Gii intercepted another attack from the golem as it was making its way towards Fatal and Sun.
[-1218]
The blow left Gii with just over 300hp and he grit his teeth as he shouted
"Pixie use the big heal on me!"
Knowing full well that nobody else would be able to tank hits from the golem, Pixie prepared his strongest healing ability and dashed towards Gii. At the same time, Queen had finished preparing her strongest restricting ability and was able to unleash a torrent of Inky tendrils that wrapped around the limbs of the Golem and slowed its movements down. Term used the opportunity to dash in while dodging a swing of its fist and slashed across its body.

[-189]
Term used his high agility to dodge the now slower attacks of the golem which gave Sun and Pixie a chance to finish their strongest healing spells. Fatal had been restored to full health which would allow him to tank another hit if needed and Gii could feel a warm current fill his body as his health bar rapidly filled back up.
[+1600]
There was a flash of joy then worry on Pixie's face as he saw the number float above Gii's head
"I don't know if i'm lucky or unlucky but we got the maximum heal possible!"
The boss immediately turned its aggro towards the healer who had just entered into its detection range and Pixie hurriedly rushed to get out of it's range. Gii stepped in between them and a smile crept across his face as he looked at the Golem.
Let's see what kind of damage I can do after taking those hits!
Gii had yet to really fully experience his maximum damage output because his class fully thrived in prolonged and extended battles where he could take lots of damage to boost his stats to a level way beyond what was normal. The previous fights, outside some of the fights with the greater golems, were not long lasting enough for Gii to really flex his strengths outside of tanking hits.
[-645]
The boss was now unable to ignore this attack completely and swung out to smash Gii again. Although Gii had boosted his strength punishment first to allow for him to start outputting more damage, He never forgot to activate his other punishments as well, especially his agility one. Right now he had converted 5% of all the damage he had taken into agility stat points. With the boost to his agility, Gii could easily dodge this blow, however he chose not to do that and instead took the blow head on to increase his stats even more.
[-1170]
It was at this point that Fatal arrived after being healed and stepped up to unleash another attack on the golem.
[-477]
As Gii also stepped up to strike the golem again, he felt that the sluggish nature that had been affecting his attacks dissipate and he realized that the debuff that had been on him had faded. His sword plunged deep into the chest of the golem and a large damage number appeared above its head
[-770]
After taking the attack from Gii, the boss was finally able to free itself from the shackles put on it by Queen and it exploded forth with another round of its Dazing Stone ability. As they were more prepared for it this time, Sun and Pixie were able to evade the attack as well as Dan and Rebel. Pixie was able to throw another heal at Gii and moved back to stay out of range of the melee attacks.
[+250]
With his current Health amount, Gii couldn't risk tanking another hit as if the damage roll was high then it was possible it could immediately kill him. Gii rushed up and put himself into the position of damage dealer now, as it was obvious that his damage was the highest amongst the group currently. He weaved his way through the attacks that were aimed his way and went to unleash another attack on the golem.
However, he realized his mistake after he had dodge the last attack which actually was not aimed at him but instead at Queen. Due to the restriction on her attack speed, she had been preparing her debuff again to reduce the pressure on the front fighters. She needed to stand in a vulnerable position in order to be able to be in range for the ability. Up until this point, the aggro had been squarely on everyone else, but it finally shifted to her and she was unable to dodge the attack before it landed.
It's said that tragedy strikes when you least expect it and this is true in this instance, as the blow struck with deadly accuracy and lethality
Critical Hit!
[-1410]
Queen was immediately smashed to a pulp and her body began to disappear into particles. The group was shocked for a moment as they looked at where Queen had just been. Although they all knew it was a possibility that there could be a critical hit, it was still unexpected and was a major blow to their morale. Gii clenched his teeth and unleashed the attack he had already prepared onto the golem.
[-843]
Fatal also rushed in to strike a blow on the golem, however Gii's blow had brought the golem below 1000 hp and triggered its next stage. Before Fatal's blow was able to strike the boss, it was repelled by an amber colored magical shield that had suddenly appeared above it's exterior. Dan had also pulled out a crossbow in anticipation and had unleashed a bolt towards the golem which bounced off of the shield without doing any damage. As the group looked above the head of the golem, they could see a timer of 3 minutes that was slowly ticking down. Dan shouted in frustration.
"Shit! you're telling me it will be immune to attacks for the next 3 minutes!? Everyone scatter!"
A dark look appeared above Gii's face as he knew this would be the most difficult part of this fight. He looked at how long he had left on his buffs and was able to confirm that the boss would lose its immunity just before he would lose his stats.
It will be close, but I can do it!

Rekindle
My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.
