Chapter 183 – Salevela Conflict 4

Sigrid of Alva was surrounded by people. In a room where a map of the island was placed, five generals stood tall. They have bearings of mighty men. Sigrid of Alva treated them as his finest. But despite that, he could not remember their names. Sigrid of Alva has forgotten their names. He was a demented old man who has nothing but lust for war.

His generals discussed. He would occasionally nod and give his insight. He would use ‘comrade’ to make sure that he wouldn’t be suspected of forgetting their names. He had forgotten them. He rather not asks for their names out of pride and face. They already knew his temper so why would they ask something that is absurd to ask in the first place?

But what did Sigrid of Alva feel as he stood in front of the war map nodding his head? Did he feel the lust for war that he wanted?

Not at all, he only felt two murderer’s eyes that would send a chill to anyone who was being stared like that. He was used to such stare that it doesn’t bother them if the two pairs of eyes didn’t belong to his children. He craned his neck slightly to the right and to the left. He saw his youngest daughter, the little that he doted, looking at him as if he was soon going to be a corpse. She was his ungrateful daughter that rebelled against his wishes and casted off her virginity as defiance.

Question: Was Sigrid of Alva, Father of Dolce, angry at that defiance?

Answer: No he wasn’t.

Sigrid of Alva thought how disappointing most of his son’s and daughters. The only one that made him looked at was his son who was exceptional in every area but refuses to marry anyone other than the cat-eared person he met when he was lost in the forests of Cagan. His son was someone he could not control.

Question: Was Sigrid of Alva, Father of Don, angry at that defiance?

Answer: In fact, he was elated at that defiance.

He thought that his son would be what he is when he was young. He was right. Don of Alva was a talented man who could even take the loyalty of his men from him. He was a viper that Sigrid of Alva was proud. So what about the little young lady he doted a long time ago? What about the little girl that would cling to him happily, the little girl that loved her father once? The little girl who changed into someone that was exceptional?

Question: Was Sigrid of Alva happy at his daughter’s defiance?

Answer: He was. He was so happy that he opened a bottle of wine that he hasn’t drink to savor such defiance.

Sigrid of Alva was a powerful man. He could do anything that he desires because he was Sigrid of Alva, the man who brought stability to the Freelands. He has many friends and connection. Getting his daughter back was an easy thing to do. He could have her back if he wanted to. He could have Dolce locked up inside the Alva compound.

But Sigrid of Alva promised. He promised his dear wife and sweetly whispered upon her ears. “I’ll never hurt our children, my dear. I promised that I won’t do anything to them!”

His wife then died with a smile on her face. That smile was the last thing he could never forget. He would rather forget everything. He didn’t want to lose that last smile of his dear wife. Without her, he was a sail in a storm. He has lost his light and he was driven by the lust for war and vengeance. That ‘vengeance’ drove him into becoming the person he was.

He knew what he has become. He admits it. He last lost himself in pursuit of his anger. Afraid, he maintained the person he was right now in order to prevent breaking his promise. He has become so empty inside that he might as well be dead. But Sigrid of Alva was too proud of dying to anyone who he didn’t worthy of dying. Despite this age of guns and artillery, he was so unsatisfied.

But yet the faces of his last remaining children made Sigrid of Alva melancholic. He loved his children. He cried hard tears the moment he heard what his children have to do to his other children. But he promised that he wouldn’t hurt them. He promised that until the day he dies. He would never break the promise that he made.

So he could only endure and laugh like a madman. Despite his daughter and his son staying quiet in the corner of the war room, his heart was anxious. He knew what they have come here for. He knew that sooner or later he might just leave this world. He wants to face the invasion of an Empire he never heard before. But now it seems like he was trapped.

Around Sigrid of Alva was a nest of vipers and snakes. The five generals he was talking to who wore fake smiles and fake respects made him want to scowl and sneer. He knew that they are waiting for the right time. He knew that his son, the one that was standing around the corner, crossing his arms was ready to do what he has planned for a very long time.

Sigrid of Alva was no fool. He was a man capable of handling himself without any support. Back when he was young he found himself in this kind of situation. He never relied on anyone until he becomes a leader of a web of an alliance that has clearly deteriorated through the years of his own madness. Sigrid of Alva has made use of his own knowledge to know what his son was planning.

Even though Sigrid of Alva planned the attack against the island, he knew that his son was one of the masterminds of this attack. His son was a brilliant person, and he made use of his injured arm to purge all the others. He couldn’t get rid of Dolce, so he decided to ally with her. Sigrid of Alva was trapped. He was getting closer to his own death.

Question: Will Sigrid of Alva resist?

Answer: No. He made a promise.
