Chapter 137 – Dolce’s recalling’s
She left trying to scratch any ideas in the insides of her brain. The thought of protecting someone she didn’t know who or where was odd to her. The Princess told her to return back to the Holy Midland and keep watch on anything or anyone. She agreed with a fake smile. But if there was one thing she wanted. She wanted to rest. Never have been she so tired of walking and flying around.
Her usual devilish bravado was gone. Her maidservant Elesia was behind her, eagerly following with a drawn rifle on her hand. She looked at her master with a bit of worry. Ever since being forced to work under the service of the Princess of the Demesne of Maltius La Fende. Her master hasn’t been grooming herself. Her demeanor was a wreck.
“Is there anything wrong, milady?” she said.
Dolce looked over her shoulder. “Really, you are asking that now?” she said. Her tone filled with tiredness. “I’m trying not to work. I can probably just laze around and do whatever the Princess wants of me. But she seemed moody. So I rather not have her execute me.”
“Is that so?” said Elesia. “Why not try resting in the skyship, milady?
“Did they fix the noise?” asked Dolce.
“No.”
“Then that’s my answer.”
She slumps her shoulders down. She continued trotting up the flight of stairs until she caught sight of the skyship. The crewmen were busy working on their tasks. She walked passed them and boarded the ship. The rear of the ship closed. She sauntered into the interior of the ship and walked up this passage that leads to her room and office. Elesia followed behind and closed the door behind her.
Dolce ambled to her desk. She craned her head and gawked at the open sky. She closed her eyes. She examined her body and finds herself stiff all over. She opened her eyes. She crooked her head at Elesia and claps her hands. Elesia was used to whatever her master wants so she went out of the room.

Dolce lifted her legs. Usually, she doesn’t act in such manner. She was raised with etiquette and acting like this was unlike her. She wouldn’t imagine herself wearing anything that wasn’t frilly. Of course, her actually going out and working for someone was something that she wouldn’t dream. She has lived her life properly and ever since what happened in the city of storms, where she acted out of defiance. Her life has taken a strange turn.
Her father would probably feel mixed emotions. He has always tried to make Dolce work or marry her to someone she usually hates. But through a strange twist of fate. She had found herself owning fiefs and she was now working for the Princess of the Maltius La Fende, the Princess of the strongest nation in the continent. She could now brag in front of her father and get away with. She wanted to do that but the Princess has been working her to death.
Of all that is good, she thought. If this is how the commoners feel when they are worked to death. Then I rather not put them in the same position.
Of course, they still need to earn their pay. The workers that she has employed didn’t try to escape nor tried to murder her lately. She has realized how a fair wage can make them loyal. In fact, they seemed to have misunderstood and thought Dolce had a change of heart. She did have a change of heart but not that much.
The door swung open. Elesia walked with a flask and a cup. She put the cup on the table and poured Dolce tea. Dolce took the cup and sipped on it. “Still using this tea?”
“The tea of the demesne is much fresher than the ones back home. Does the lady don’t enjoy it?”

“No,” she shook her head. “It is tasty and I like it. I wonder how they make their tea so refreshing.”
“I think it depends on the brewer too.”
Dolce looked at Elesia with a slight grin. “Sure, whatever you say, Elesia. Come and drink some too. I think you are going to need it. Because I just know that strolling around Midland will be a chore. And get some earplugs to cover my ears.”
“That’s heretical, milady,” she said. “I am sure that the priest would try to lynch you if they found you wearing earplugs.”
“I like to see them try. That will give me the excuse to shoot them in the stomach.”
“Milady,” Elesia frowned.
“Oh please wipe that frown away. I was just jesting with you. And you know that shooting a priest would just make their guards try to blow my head too.”
“That’s good,” she patted her chest. “Still, what are we doing for the Princess this time?”
“I don’t know. She only wanted me to keep my ears on the ground. I guess she wants to monitor midland. I really can’t blame her, knowing how sneaky the Templars are.”
“I see. But are they really trying to stir up trouble? With that Empire coming and all,” she said with fear in her eyes.
“Who knows? Both sides are driven by motives. And please, what need is there to fear? If they come then they will come. Fearing will not help, and you should fear when they come.”
Elesia nodded her head. Dolce looked at her before feeling the floor tremble. There was a sound that came in a box up the ceiling of the office. It was a voice box that still makes Dolce uncomfortable. The ship was littered with voice boxes.
She was surprised at the first time. But now she was impassive to it. Although she was making use of the ship, it didn’t belong to her. The crewmen that pilots and maintains the ship are loyal soldiers of the demesne. The only people she has on board are the deck cleaners and guardsmen who looked after them.
She doesn’t have control over them. She hates that she could not dictate them to go wherever she wanted to unless the task given by the princess was done. Still, she tries not to fret over it. There was no need for her to get worked up as long as they don’t try to shoot her.
