Chapter 89 – The Vileguard Templars (4)
The Templars of the Vileguard fought bravely against the abomination. They encircled the perimeter and bombarded the abomination with their weapons. Each of their tactics was defined by their commander’s maneuvering and extreme measures to avoid each and every searing laser.
It was an impeccable battle with one flaw: They relied on their artillery too much. They have set up five artillery battery points around the enemy. It was the hammer that kept on pounding the abomination. Yet their enemy was an advanced AI that had slowly studied their actions. It played coy and when it noticed that they were running out of ammunition. It kept its shield up until the last shell was released.
What followed was nothing but a pure slaughter. The searing laser of the Combat drone that combined with the organic life form of the creatures of the area made for a dangerous Quietus. To her, it was an interesting observation of how a Quietus is made. She would love to have dealt with the abomination but she didn’t have the proper countermeasures yet. So she had to painfully watch these brave men die at the hands of the abominations. It was painful to see. But she had been seeing such scenes for her life.
Even in this world, there are men like these. She was glad. Yet seeing them die vainly while not making a mark against the abomination made her a bit angry. Their tactics were impeccable if faced with the primitive technology of this world. Yet it was nothing to the abomination.
She had been roaming around and she found out about the world she was in. She had found that this world was in its 19th Era. There are many differences in culture. Their weapons are flintlocks and are still in the works into being repeating firearms. She had learned of the lands and how beyond the Freelands, there is a nation called the Holy Midland, a society that is in its pre-industrial age. There are already motor cars that are run by gasoline they call as Lebon’s fuel. There are talks about flying machines and such. The geography of the world was quite different compared to hers. She had seen many colonized planets but the continent she was in was big and up above there were different constellations and stars. She had tried finding any familiar stars or planets through her Omni-Forge but her results were dulled by the lack of the computing power.

She found that this world was rather different and the existence of space storms and runic energy had baffled her. This world was far different from the galaxy she once lived. To her, it was a depressing matter. Yet despite being deprived of her duties, work, and all those that she cares for after being sent in this foreign world with no way out. She could only hold her heart steady and do what she must do. Indeed, this was not her world. This was not the galaxy she fought with blood and tears. Yet, the brave men and women she had seen so far made her thought that it was not that different. The men who had different technology died against this enemy that she, had been fighting against for years.
So when faced with this abomination. Corporal Zola Dawn, a foreigner from a different world gritted her teeth. Her eyes went red. Her pale skin turned blue as her exoskeleton armor then held her limbs. She looked like a goddess of war as she deploys her armaments. Her main armament has been created. Through her Omni-Forge she has repaired her main weapon. With her weapon, she activated her countermeasures against the enemy. The abomination noticed the presence of Zola.
“Identifying...Codex Law suggests enforcer...warning...Personnel has been detected....Complete...Personnel passes Codex Lax standards...Submitting ID to USER Omni-Forge...Error...Omni-Forge is offline...Error...Detecting...Results Completed...Personnel infected with unknown energy...Error...Database offline...Cure unable to be found...Error...Codex Law suggests elimination of personnel...Termination Law.”
The Combat Drone’s optics turned red. It suddenly moved using its legs as its searing laser then fires at Zola. She watched the searing laser with bland eyes. She dodged to the side and pointed her left arm at the abomination. In her arm, there was a coiled barrel that was seething with electricity. It fired a blast of energy that made the upper shoulder of the abomination explode. The butchered meat came down and landed on the ground, making meaty sounds.

Zola Dawn sprinted with her main weapon at hand. She aimed it at the torso of the enemy and pulled the trigger. The shot spread and created ten pan-sized holes. The abomination staggered. The coilgun that she fired at the enemy disabled the shield of the enemy while the spread shot stunned the enemy. The abomination, however, started to move and it then covered up its wounds by making use of the mutilated corpses, manipulating them by stretching them.
“Looks like I can’t deal with the body immediately,” murmured Zola. She continued evading the enemy. Ducking down, taking a dive roll, hunkering down while making use of the coilgun on her left arm to disable the shield of the enemy while using her main weapon to damage the enemy. She didn’t dare to be reckless at the face of an enemy like this. It was her first time that she had seen a newborn Quietus. Usually, the Quietus that she had dealt with was pre-created and had the appearance of humanoid figures birthed from the matrimony of flesh and machine.
Usually, these types of abominations that she was facing were a behemoth-class abomination. It was a newborn yet it had the strength of a behemoth due to the various creatures it merged with. To her knowledge combat drones were much smarter than this. But her recent discovery of space storms had allowed her to deduce that the machinations of the drone had gone awry. The lack of maintenance also suggests that one of the main reasons the drone merge with the animal and monsters parts was in order to collect bioenergy to keep its functions running.
“It looks like this drone was set to collect organic samples. It might have been gathering samples for years now and without the facility to put them in. It went and become like this,” she thought. “Then could it be that destroying that crippled medical ship was a mistake? Ah, if only I was able to detect this drone sooner...”
She rolled. She reached to her belt and threw her last grenade which blew the abomination backward. She then leaps at the drone’s main body. It tried to skewer her but she was able to dodge and point her main weapon, blasting the drone’s head, revealing its insides. She tried to blast the drone again but she was blindsided and had to defend.
The drone started to fly stiffly up to the air. She gave chase but then she saw a four-legged beast with a carriage in its back running away. The drone had gone awry and seeing the beast carriage. It seemed like it wanted to make use of the carriage. It revealed one of its sub-arms and pointed it at the beast carriage. Zola didn’t waste her time, madly, she dashed towards the drone to prevent its actions.

Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.
