Maria touched down in the forest where she had hunted her first field boss, Direwolf Andar. She found a tree branch to land on and sat down to take a look at her rewards.
She opened her inventory and took out the [Revive] Skillbook. She patted it on her body and immediately learned the skill.

After pressing the [YES], the egg began to glow in Maria's hands and she grew excited. When the light died down, a small little fairy had replaced the egg in Maria's hand.
It was currently sleeping and Maria swooned at the cute little thing in her hands.
"Waaaahhh...it's so cute! [Inspect]!"

"Hmmm...What should I name it...? It's cute and it has long hair so I'm guessing it's a girl?" Maria took a closer look at the little fairy in her hands.
It had a small cute face with long black hair. There were also two lumps on its chest so it was without a doubt a girl
"Yup, it's a girl alright...I'll name you Lilah!"

"Hm? It changed a little..."
The small fairy in her hand began to rouse awake. It stretched its arms and legs out before yawning.
"Mnyah...oh?" A cute voice came from the little fairy and it surprised Maria.
The fairy flew into the air and circled Maria. It flew in front of her and asked.
"Art thou my Master?"
"Huh?"
"I ask, art thou my Master?"
"Y-yes?"
"Umu...well Master, I thank you for waking up this one. As per your blessing, my name is Lilah. Let's get along, Master~"
"L-likewise!"
"By the way Master, you seem pretty clueless so I better give you a heads up about my skills...here you go~"
Maria was a little surprised at the rude remark that her own pet gave her, but she laughed it off and turned her attention to the Skill Window in front of her.

"Ohhh, these are some good skills!"
She noticed that most of her pet's skills were in the support category, but just any one of her skills was most likely going to be a great help in her future battles.
"Anyways Master, since you know all you need to know about me, where are we headed?"
"Eh? Uhm...I'm not sure!"
"Eh?"
"I just decided to go out and explore, we'll let the wind guide us on our journey~"
"Hmm~ well, whatever you say, Master," Lilah answered. She didn't seem to care whether her Master had a plan or not.

"Before we go on our exploration, let me distribute all my FSPs first!"
Maria opened her [Status] menu and distributed her points into her stats. She had 190 FSPs and she distributed 100 to INT, 30 to AGI, 40 to VIT, and the remaining 20 to STR.

"Now that I think about it...my stats are a little absurd..."
Seeing that her Master was already finished doing what she needed to do, Lilah immediately quipped up.
"Master, let's get going?"
"Hm? Alright, let's go~"
Maria took off into the air. Her SP had risen by so much that she could practically fly for forever if she wanted to.
"Let's head deeper into the forest~"
They flew for about 10 minutes in one direction before Lilah raised her voice and said, "Master, I think I hear a fight going on over in that direction!"
Maria turned to face the direction that Lilah was pointing at. She thought for a moment and decided to head on over.
"Seems fun, so let's go?"
"M-master?! Shouldn't you be avoiding fights?"
"Why~? We can't get exp that way, y'know~"
"Ehhh???"
"Let's go, let's go!"
"W-wait up, Master!"
Maria quickly flew through the air and immediately heard the sounds of fighting originating from the forest not long after.
She took a look down and saw a party of players facing off against a large group of wolves. She even spotted the field boss Andar assaulting the party.
"Oh...they're struggling against such an easy boss?"
Hearing this, Lilah immediately grew disinterested and spoke,
"Master, let's get going. If that boss is easy as you say he is, then it's not worth it for us to hang around to steal it."
"Steal? Why would we steal it?"
"Eh?"
"It's theirs, right? I won't go out of my way to steal someone else's monster! That's unethical!"
"O-okay? So, what're we waiting around up here for?"
"We wait until they die then we take the boss for ourselves!"
"..."
"You're still level 0, so we can use that boss to push your level up!"
Lilah couldn't understand this master of hers. She clearly just said it was unethical to steal a monster from anyone, but now she's just going to wait until they die before taking the boss?
Sure, it was much better than stealing, but shouldn't she at least lend a helping hand if she knows they're all just going to die?
"Master...you've got a twisted sense of common sense..."
"Hm? What's that Lilah?"
"...nothing..."
Just like what Maria had said, the party down below couldn't stand up against the boss monster and the wolves surrounding them and were wiped out. Maria cheered and jumped off the tree branch she was sitting on.
She pulled out her Calamity from the inventory and dived down. When she got close enough, she activated [Calamity Cleave] and slammed her ax on top of the Boss' head. However, just before her attack connected, a small white flame began to burn around the boss's body.
-8,000! (Fatal Strike x8 damage)
"Oh?"
She followed up the attack with an [Arc Swing] and slammed the boss back into the ground with a normal attack before burning it with [Gehenna's Eye].
[100,000 exp gained!]
[Exp has been divided between you and your pet]
[Your pet [Lilah] has leveled up! Lv. 0 → Lv. 8]
"Oh? That was fast~"

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds
