《Universe Tales: Virtual Log of the Fallen One》School

The next day, Maria was driven to school by her brother, Mikael. The 3 siblings would always go out together in the morning. Gerald and she were in the same school, with Gerald being in his last year of high school and Maria being in her 2nd year.
Mikael was in his first year of University so he would drive them to school in the morning before leaving for his morning lectures.
“I bet you’re soon going to be popular later, Mary~” Gerald teased.
“B-brother! S-so what? I don’t m-mind the attention!” So she said, but in fact, she was shaking in her boots.
She was normally oblivious to the eyes of anyone in school who looked over, but thanks to her brother, she turned more aware of it.
Even now while walking down the school’s hallway, the previous stares that she never felt were all boring holes in her body now.
“Well, I’ll see you later Mary...I have afterschool lessons so tell Mika to go on ahead without me later!” Gerald said goodbye to his sister and quickly made his way to the school’s west wing where the 3rd year classes were in.
Mary’s classroom was in the east wing. Heimwald Private High was a school for the elite, and academically gifted. Although it wasn’t a school that catered for the middle and lower class, they did provide scholarships for any enrollee who displayed high academic prowess.
When she got to her classroom, class 2-B, and opened the door. It was still early in the morning, but there were quite a few of her classmates already present inside.
Even her best friend Lizzy was already inside...except her head was on the table and it obvious that she was napping.
Her classmates who were already inside noticed her and gave her peculiar looks, but like her usual self, she was completely oblivious to it. Maria’s earlier mindfulness had vanished without a trace and she was back to her oblivious self once again.
Maria happily walked up to her friend and patted her on the head and greeted.

“Morning!”
“Hwah? Oh...morning...Mary...Mary? Mary!!!”
When Lizzy finally registered who it was that greeted her, she abruptly jumped up from her seat.
“Ueh?!”
Mary was shocked at her sudden outburst. She fell back and fortunately landed on her seat that was just next to Lizzy’s.
“Mary!! This is you? Right?!”
Lizzy quickly fiddled with her phone and presented it to Maria. On the phone was the same video that her brother had shown to her yesterday.
“Hahaha~ y-yeah...it is actually...” Maria replied sheepishly.
“I knew it! Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it though! You actually found a unique race so early from the start! How’d you do it? Even during the beta, although not all of the races had been fully released, at least there wasn’t any news about the Fallen Angel race! Even the character creation menu didn’t list it!”
Being bombarded with so many questions from her best friend, Maria was at a loss from where to begin answering.
“Wait, no! We’ll talk about this later. That race change should remain a secret, but you absolutely have to tell me about it! So, moving on, did you get your class yet?”
Maria couldn’t keep up with the pace of her friend. One minute it was about her race now it’s about her class.
“Ahaha~ well, I only got it yesterday, just before I logged off,” Maria replied.
“What’d you pick? From the vid, you were using a staff...so, a priestess?”
“Yup~ but, the message window said it was a Dark Priestess...a hidden legacy class?”
“...”
“Lizzy?”
Lizzy had a bright smile on her upon hearing her friend’s words, but she didn’t respond after that.
“HOW?! How do you already have a hidden class?! Even the class I got from the beta is only a legacy class! What more, yours is a hidden legacy class!!”
Lizzy immediately grabbed onto her friend’s shoulders and was shaking her back and forth. The unfortunate Maria soon grew dizzy with the repeated shaking.

“U-uwaahhh... I-I don’t know, Liz~!”
Lizzy stopped her shaking and sighed in exasperation. “I bet you only clumsily stumbled on to that class...right?”
“I...I think?”
“I knew it! Well, it doesn’t matter, since we’ve both got our class, we’ll party up later, okay?”
“Sure!”
“I’ll call Amanda, Milly, and Zack later to party up with us. With you in the party, we’ll finally have ourselves another healer!”
“Who’s the other one?”
“Amanda’s a shaman, a side branch of the priestess class. It’s a class only available to the elves, orcs, and fairies~”
Once more, foreign terms were used once again and Maria could only nod despite not understanding one bit of what her friend was saying. Lizzy huffed at her friend’s ‘understanding’ nod.
“You don’t understand a word I just said, right?”
“No~pe!”
“What am I going to do with you?” Lizzy replied while helplessly shaking her. “Doesn’t matter, the only important thing you should remember is that we’re partying up later!”
“Okay...but how do we meet up?’
“Ah?”
“Uhm...before I changed my race to a Fallen Angel, I was originally at the Angels’ starting village...now I’m in the demon city, are you also playing a dark faction race? Amanda’s probably a fairy or elf, right? Doesn’t that mean you guys are in the light faction?”
“Woah, woah, woah! Where did you learn all that vocabulary?”
Lizzy exclaimed at the familiar terms that her friend was suddenly using. This clueless girl shouldn’t know anything about those gaming terms.
“I learned about them from Brother Gerald!”
“O-oh...”
“Well?”
“Yeah, you’re right...we ARE in different factions, but that doesn’t mean we can’t meet up and play together.”
“But I learned from Gerald that the two factions are in opposition? Wouldn’t that mean I’d be attacked if I go to the light faction’s areas and the same would happen if you went to my areas?”
“Mary, Mary, Mary...It’s so great to see you grow up!!!” Lizzy began hugging and petting her best friend. It was like she was looking at her own child who had finally learned to walk on her own.
“Don’t worry about that! Milly, Amanda, and Zack are also part of the light faction, but I’m from the dark faction!”
“Eh?”
“Hihihi~ I’m playing as a demon Dragonoid, it’s a hidden race that I stumbled upon from the beta~”
“Oh!! That means we’re close!”
“Hmm...Not really, you’re in the Demon Capital, Enoch. I’m in the Dark Dragon’s capital, Vortigern.”
“I-is it far away?”
“Nope! I have the money to use the teleportation gates, so I’ll quickly go over to you soon!”
“R-really? I heard that it’s expensive to use them!” Maria was a little worried, she heard from her brother that it costs 1 gold to use the teleportation gates. His brother wanted to meet up with her since he too was also part of the dark faction. Gerald was playing as a drow or a dark elf.
It was a shame that their starting areas were too far apart. It would take many in-game days to travel to another dark faction city on foot. So the only plausible way was to use the teleportation gate.
“It costs one gold coin, but don’t worry! One of the perks in being a BT is that we get to keep all the gold we accumulated in the beta test, but of course, it’s only limited to 100,000 gold coins.”
“W-woah! You must be really rich then Lizzy~”
“Huh? Not really...sure I could do a lot with it, like buy land and make a shop. It’s also easy for me to buy the skill books at the start, but it’s nowhere near enough to make a guild! You need 500,000 gold for that!”
“...Guild?”
“Never mind about that~ we’ll talk about it later. Well, all I’m saying is that 100,000 gold coins aren’t much!”
“Ahaha...okay~”
‘I only have 1 gold though...’
