《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 271: Memoir of Stars

The camp members began a non-stop walk through the destroyed and empty streets, going towards Sinpo. Even when they entered the area they continued walking towards the shore area.
As they got closer to the shore area the place began to get populated. They saw various residents living in different buildings. It was already deep into the evening. Han Wi stopped their advance; they had already reached the location they were heading to. She asked the people in the area about those who had arrived and found out that they were the first. This camp was supposed to get to the shore the last since the meeting would be happening tomorrow.
The people settled in the available spaces in order to rest while Han Wi and Mira went towards where Dan Jun Han was supposed to be. Mira dragged the elf on the ground, holding her two hands with one of her palms. The elf’s sword was Mira’s other hand.
The entered a broken skyscraper close to the beach and told the woman at the lobby why they were here. The woman closed her eyes and sent a psychic message to the higher floors.
Han Wi’s eyes widened as she saw this. This woman was not a High Human she was just a normal human. This was only possible because of the Private job that all those who hadn’t evolved got. The Private job just had one privilege, the Private’s Eagerness privilege. It allowed a person with talent learn a skill if they had enough talent or capability for it and were taught or observed someone who had possessed the skill.
It was just one privilege but it gave hope to those who hadn’t evolved; they would not be left behind. The lady obviously had talent for psychic energy manipulation and she was taught by someone. It was hard to find Ancient grade and above individuals that would dedicate time to teach their skills to talented humans. This was because they had better uses of their time and didn’t find the effort worthwhile since the process usually took days to weeks of consistent training and mentoring.

Seeing this meant that Dan Jun Han was someone that valued normal humans even though they had evolved. A few seconds later the lady in the lobby said “Please go to the beach. Dan Jun Han will meet you there”.
Han Wi and Mira left the building and headed toward the beach. When they had gone some meters in the silhouette a man jumped from the top of the skyscraper they were in and landed beside Mira in the sand without even kicking up wind.
The moon light illuminated the figure of a Korean man with wearing white striped blue shorts and a red round neck. He wore white sneakers on his feet and had a black wrist watch around one of his wrists. One detail made him completely different from a normal Korean man; it was his hair. His grey hair was curly and kinky like Mira’s, it was tied in a loose pony tail by a rubber band.
The IPs denoted him as [Rank 26 Peak Human: Demigod (Oduduwa)].
It was Dan Jun Han. Han Wi swiftly performed a bow and said “It is an honor to meet you. I can’t say how grateful I am for you giving us the opportunity to reach Hawaii”.
Jun Han said “It’s cool, I heard you have information on why no one else has come here except from you guys”.
“Yes” Han Wi pointed at the elf Mira was holding and said “She trapped us in some spatial loop to prevent us from getting here. She said some people offered her knowledge of spatial spells in exchange for her using it to stop others from coming here”.
Jun Han’s eye brows raised as he thought ‘That explains a lot’. He looked toward Mira and looked back at Han Wi questioningly.
Han Wi said “That Gomjong Sinbi. We found her on our way here; she helped us capture the elf”.
“What’s with the name?” Jun Han asked.
“We gave her that name because she doesn’t seem to have memories. Please forgive her lack of manners” Han Wi explained.

Mira greeted “Good evening” with a psychic message.
Jun Han nodded back and plucked a long strand of his hair. He tied it around the elf’s neck, held her face so she would look into his eyes and said “Who are you?”
‘He doesn’t know?!’ Han Wi and Mira thought. They had assumed Jun Han would know who was hindering him but he seemed to be just as clueless.
Jun Han’s psychic energy lashed out after he asked the question. He unraveled her mind searching for the answer but her soul and mind disintegrated the moment he came close to it.
A surge of psychic energy and soul particles burst forth from the elf’s head. Jun Han hadn’t expected this, his eyes swiftly looked towards Han Wi; the impact was harmless to him but it wouldn’t be the same for her.
Mira had come in clutch as the psychic energy vanished the moment it came near her or Han Wi. Mira said “The only remaining clue is this sword” as she held it toward Jun Han.
Jun Han collected it and said “I’ll bring this up at the meeting”. The two women watched his back as he jumped toward the skyscraper the came from.
Han Wi and Mira walked back to the residence of the campers. Han Wi separated from Mira to go and get more information about how Dan Jun Han’s settlement worked.
A little boy approached Mira. Mira looked down on him with recognition, it was Woo. Woo had a concerned expression as he said “You, you’ve changed. What happened?”
Mira’s expression saddened as she said “I got some of my memories back”.
“You lost your memories?” Woo asked in slight surprise.
Mira nodded and said “I didn’t forget about you. I just couldn’t stay with you since I was holding the elf; she could attack you”.
Woo looked down and said “Yes… I’m weak. I didn’t evolve”.
Mira couldn’t answer his question. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t. She remembered herself when she was human and although she was stronger than Woo who was a kid, she was still weak.
Looking at her current self Mira thought ‘But I didn’t stay weak’.
Mira said “Yeah, I heard from Han Wi once that people could evolve at one point and I must have evolved. Sadly that time is gone…”
Woo’s face grew sullen.
Mira smiled and said “There was a time when people couldn’t evolve wasn’t there?”
Woo nodded, he barely had any memories of those times.
Mira continued “You may not remember it well but there were still strong and weak people then. To me evolution was just a new opportunity for some people to get ahead of others. It is not a final sentence.
“There is no one that is bound, everyone has boundless potential. What limits us is usually time and a lack of imagination”. Mira remembered the people who ratted out Malik’s plan. They were all in bondage like her but they couldn’t see themselves as anything but sex slaves; their minds were bound by their present states.
Mira continued “You are weak, but you can become strong. Whether you want to try to achieve the martial or magical feats of evolvers or you want to create technological advancements that humans were great at. There’s still a world full of possibilities out there, you just have to look”.
Woo was now looking up, a little smidge of hope in his eyes.
Mira smiled softly and said “Promise me that you will never stop looking. Promise me that you will never close your eyes because of the hopelessness. No matter how pointless, not matter how futile, promise me that your light won’t dim”.
“I-I promise” Woo said with tears welling up in his eyes.
Mira said “Then I promise that I will never forget you”.
