《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 186: Unanswered Questions

Jade sobbed silently as the living room slowly faded out of existence along with his family that had finished singing. Some minutes later Jade’s emotions had stabilized. He looked around him at the world of endless darkness. He thought ‘A New World huh? I’ll give it a try’.
As if sensing his calm a notification appeared before him that read:
[You will now enter into Meditation…]
The darkness faded into nothingness as Jade’s focus went inward into his mind. The memories of Fernandez and his children and the experiences of the Soul Parasite were laid out before him.
He thought ‘I should probably find out why they went after me’
Jade absorbed the memories of Fernandez.
The Champion Arachni appeared around Aso rock (President’s Official Home) in Abuja along with a bunch of other monsters on the day Jade was caught. The place was burnt and there were people investigating the incident, looking for clues of Jade’s secret, at the time of Fernandez’s arrival.
An irresistible voice told the Champion Arachni to work together with the other monsters to kill the humans if it wanted power. The Champion Arachni easily yielded to the voice and began a massacre along with the monsters around it. It could feel its power rising as every single human died.
Jade noticed that the people doing the investigation: although they were black they had accents of people from different countries. Jade laughed at the sight and thought ‘They really did their best to find out didn’t they’.
The murder continued and Jade noticed something very weird. There was a guy among the escaping people that all the monsters seemed to ignore, he hid behind walls and pillars but even when the monsters were in direct line of sight with him they ignored him. The monsters would also occasionally attack piles of ashes, people and parts of the buildings around the man. The man was Fernandez.

The Champion Arachni turned its back toward the running people and spewed a wide net of webs. The webs weighed a lot and stuck heavily on the people that were running away, pinning them down and the monsters ripped them apart. When the Champion Arachni ripped the head of Fernandez off a voice said to it.
‘You have completed the Hidden Quest: Weeds’
And a screen was shown to the Champion Arachni about the details.
[Weeds: Kill a weed – reward: title: Weed Killer and early IP acquisition – status: complete]
[Title:
Weed Killer: You have slain a human that has been deemed a Weed for his actions. Your current race will become a Boundless race. You will develop a reproductive system. You will be given the salvaged memories of the Weed.]
The memories of Fernandez’s life played out but there was nothing special about him. Fernandez was a normal civilian who became a member of the Spanish military. Fernandez became a great soldier and achieved many feats during his service and then he became a member of the secret service. He was given the mission of capturing Jade by his country and was one of the agents that were directly guarding the president.
Jade watched his plan succeed through Fernandez’s eyes and felt the emotion that Fernandez felt toward him; Dread. Fernandez had no idea of how Jade kidnapped people and he firmly believed it was magic. He was even more convinced of this fact after hearing the news of Jade’s capture. There were no memories of his escape from the monsters though.
Jade was immensely confused by the information. He thought ‘The guy certainly was weird but I still don’t get why he is a Weed. The guy hasn’t even gotten any en-code yet. Could it be that there is a flaw in the system? Could that guy have been a flaw that the Organizer couldn’t handle? The monsters kept ignoring him or missing when they wanted to hit, could he have something that makes him invisible to the monsters? Or is it just because he is a soldier with high achievements?’

Jade sighed and thought ‘This is too confusing, moving on…’
Jade searched the memories for something related to him until he reached the point in the memories where something weird happened. The Champion Arachni’s vision suddenly darkened and found itself in the sea a moment after that. An immensely terrifying monster that its mind couldn’t fully fathom floated towards it and said “I know you have human memories so I’ll make it quick. Kill Jade he hunts close to you. If he escapes you’re fine as long as you witness how he escaped. If you kill him I will give you a 100 billion en-code. If you do not attempt to kill him you will die. You have a week to find him”.
Jade watched wide eyed as the train of events led to the Champion Arachni’s frantic search and how it found him two days after that when Jade went to Abuja to resume his hunting.
Jade was shocked as he realized ‘Two days after… The day the sea monster gave the mission was the day the Event was announced!’ Jade thought for a while connecting the dots and realized ‘The only monster that can know my name, has a plausible reason to search for me and lives in the sea is the Infant Ocean Master. It was the one that called the hit’.
The Infant Ocean master had invaded Jade’s soul so it knew things about him and obviously it knew his name. But Jade couldn’t understand how it knew his location. He was in Lagos when he teleported to its location it shouldn’t have known that he was in Abuja.
Jade’s eyes widened as he realized something more ‘It called the hit on the day that the Event was announced. Which was when I…’. Jade’s was completely mind blown as he checked the memory of the Champion Arachni again in more detail and realized that it was given the mission about 30 minutes after the announcement.
This was a few minutes after Jade had first tested the Soul Map; a few minutes after he marked the Infant Ocean Master. Jade's mind detonated as he shouted internally ‘IT KNEW?! BUT HOW?!’
Jade calmed down after a while and thought ‘Could its job have given it such a privilege? But there was no privilege like that… Wait, Mira didn’t get the notification about the Job privileges. That was because she was too low in Rank. Could there have been privileges given to monsters above a certain Rank that wasn’t made known to me because I was Rank 11? A whole bunch of notifications and quests that was given to them that I didn’t know about. Or could Boundless races have different jobs that give different privileges that I never heard about? So many questions’
Jade sighed and began experiencing the life of the Soul Parasite.
