《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 139: Nova

Mira walked back to Night City. Night City had quite a low population, about 3,000, with about 600 people being vampires. From what Mira learned vampires were a High grade race and only Original Vampires were Ancient Grade. Original Vampires could make humans or High Humans vampires with a ritual that involved an exchange of blood between the two parties.
Night City was located at the exteriors of Washington State which was the most dangerous state in the USA with the highest Ranking monsters so no member of Night City was below Rank 4.
Mira walked through the buzzing city and headed to Jake's room. She knocked the door and Jake opened. Mira said at the door "Jade said you can send the monster parts now. He asks that you get information about Nuclear Fusion when we go to raid the Pentagon".
Jake said "It's about time and you're not going for the Pentagon raid until you're Rank 7". Mira sighed and walked away when she heard that, there were High Humans in Night City but none of them were Rank 7 yet even though there were already 2 Rank 7 vampires. It just proved that High Grade races that descended directly from Ancient Grade races had greater advantages compared to normal High Grade races.
Mira returned back to her room, lay on her bed and thought 'A part of me' as she created a ball of energy and applied Energy Burst to it. She couldn't see the energy but she could feel it with her energy zone. She closed her eyes and tried to feel how she was a part of the energy. She lay on the bed for 10 hours straight but she got nothing and decided sleep.
The ball of energy popped as she dozed off. In her dream she saw Jade fighting a horde of powerful monsters while trying to protect the sanctuary. Jade was on the verge of losing when she arrived and defeated the attacking horde with a single use of her Energy Burst skill.

She woke up 4 hours later and thought 'Stupid dream'. The horde in the dreaywas unrealistically large. Many hordes had broken up after the event started. The group of Abominations Mira fought previously was a result of a break up too as the group only had Rank 6 to Rank 4 Abomination spawns. And she was sure Jade would never risk his life to protect anyone.
She created a ball of energy and used her skill on it again. She thought back to the part of her dream where she blew up the horde with her skill and chuckled softly. The feeling of power in the dream reminded her of the time she discovered her skill. Then realization hit her as she thought 'Ambition'.
Ambition was what caused her to train so recklessly, she thought 'I want to be free from my weakness, to not rely on Jade anymore, to become one of those great people that Malik told me about'. While Mira drowned in her dreams and ambitions the ball of energy got more intense as it became a representation of her goals.
Mira then thought 'But I can't get what I want, because I didn't kill a Rank 4 monster when the apocalypse started, I was busy being Abhad's slave. Because I was born into such a bad family' Mira sighed and said "Dreams are boundless but reality confines them". At this point her ball of energy experienced a change and became visible. The ball shined with a golden light as it assumed the physical representation of Mira's repressed ambition.
Mira was shocked and her brows arched up as she stared at the golden ball of energy before her she said "It so not a bubble, its a star". Mira brought the ball that was floating in her energy zone into her palm and examined it. It was hard but it wasn't hot, it was warm like a pearl of light. Mira retracted her energy zone but she still felt a connection to the ball, the ball didn't explode but she felt a careful balance in it that could be broken to make it explode.

Mira smiled when she saw this and went out of her room to tell Samuel. She asked around for Samuel but she found out he was out on an extermination mission. Mira decided to test the ball of energy on her own since Samuel wasn't around.
She went to an empty area, controlled the ball to move far away from her and with the connection she had to it she broke the stability of ball. The shining ball disappeared and was replaced with a large air explosion as the energy in it was released. The power was so much that it created a vacuum where it exploded and threw Mira into the air even though she was so far away. Mira thought 'And I only used little energy to make it'.
Mira jumped in excitement at the power of her improved skill. She thought 'It's going to be a pain to learn how to control this power but when I do control it I'm sure I'll be able to take Rank 7s. But giving this skill all the features of my bubble suit is going to be a pain. *sigh* Another round of training I guess'.
Mira constricted her energy zone and made it outline her body. After that she applied her skill on the energy on her body as she focused on her ambition and the restrictions of reality. Her energy soon started shining with a golden light and she continued focusing until all the energy around her became golden.
She smiled as looked at her self surrounded in golden light and thought 'It takes to much time'. The new upgrade was great but she took 15 minutes to apply it to her whole body. Mira was quiet for a while as she thought of a new name for her skill. She then decided 'It's an exploding star so I'll call it Nova'. She smiled in satisfaction at the thought of the new name.

Rage: Crisis / Consequence / ???
Its been ten years since Seth was given his powers, ten years since his town was driven mad by that very same power, and ten years since its source was shunted into his head. A species of energy beings, a people filled with regret for what their entrance onto this world caused. Regret for the deaths that town perpetuated, the devastation they brought, the blow they served to the once proud heroes of this world. Heroes Seth now hopes to join, hopes to heal and atone to for what transpired. But their wounds run deep, their ire sharp, and their acceptance thin. And to top it all off... Seth's power is run far deeper than he knows, and sees his world in a light all its own. This series is my first foray into authoring, with two parts out of at best four if the readership stands. But part three will still book end nicely otherwise. And I'm not stopping till then. It is action heavy with varied and ramping up fight scenes through out. (Book 1 is heavy / Book 2 a little lighter) It is bloody in places, mildly gory in others, and heavily gory in simulated places. Nothing truly horrifying, I think, but be warned. It has trauma. PTSD is a major part of the story, but I will never trust that I got it completely right, so your mileage may vary on how believable or impactful it is. Lastly it has language. Swearing ebbs and flows as the story progresses and attitudes harden or soften. Sometimes bleeding through into the narration... somehow.
