《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 119: Spar and Announcement

Mira was pumped when she returned back to the lab, she said “Ok, lets spar”. Jade shook his head and said “It’s not like you can even win” as he went to a room suitable for the spar.
When they got there Mira compressed her armor until it was as small as a slipper. The bubble armor was compressed around her core which was in her armpit. Jade had put the core there since he felt it would be a hard place for anyone to reach since the core was the weakness of any Elemental armor.
Mira jumped in place and did some stretches while saying “I want to test what I can do without my armor first”. Jade nodded and said “I’ll test the spells that I have developed”.
Mira compressed her energy zone until it just outlined her body and further compressed the energy around her in preparation for her skill. Jade expanded his energy zone and asked “Are you only going to fully rely on your new sensory skill?” Mira nodded and said “Yup, although it doesn’t give me detailed information like my energy zone, it’s information already deciphered”.
Jade nodded and said “Getting information from two sources will give me the chance to confuse you, it’s a good decision”. Mira took a stance. She compressed her energy at the soles of her feet, the back of her waist and the back of her shoulders.
He prepared for a lounge and activated Energy Burst. She reached where Jade was in an instant with her fist facing forward in a punch, she had executed a punch on her way toward Jade. When Mira used Energy Burst to propel at the maximum output, it moved her faster than her mind could think so she developed and practiced some moves until she could use them in synchrony with her maximum power.

Her fist hit only air though as Jade had moved 10 meters away to her left. Mira instantly sensed the danger in the energy that occupied space around her; Jade had cast an explosion spell where he was previously. He knew what she was planning to do and acted accordingly. The spell only needed a single pattern to be complete when Mira arrived and Jade swiftly completed it and an explosion rang out as he did.
The results of Jade’s strategy were far from what he expected as Mira appeared in front of him, she had gotten to where he was now with nearly 30 times the speed she used in her first lounge.
When Mira sensed the danger around her she used her maximum output energy burst on the right side of her back to counter the attack and to use Jade’s energy against him… But it did workout as she planned. She moved faster than ever so she couldn’t position herself to attack Jade; she reached him before she realized her mistake.
Jade swiftly weaved a spell and Mira slowed down rapidly in front of him. He thought ‘The explosion spell is to large, the spell patterns are almost as big as half the explosion area; it can be easily sensed. I need to modify it’.
Mira swiftly slowed down and she realized the mistake with her split second decision; she would have hit Jade in a bad position and gotten hurt. As she grinded to a halt in the air she sensed the mischief in the spell Jade had used to stop her.
Jade’s lips curled up as he thought of the spells name ‘Trampoline’. He was an experienced fighter so he would never give his opponents the chance to correct their mistakes.
Mira swiftly accelerated and regained the unwanted speed again. She thought ‘I should just give up on fighting with just my skills. *sigh* it took him two spells to completely put me at a disadvantage” as she bounced from one Trampoline spell to the other without being able to decelerate.

She decompressed her armor and covered herself with Tough bubbles. Her attempt was fruitless as she didn’t decelerate. She changed the bubbles to Soak bubbles and experienced some success as the bubbles absorbed the potential energy in the Trampoline spell and slowed her down.
She got back on her feet after a few bounces and was assaulted with a wave of dizziness. Jade smiled and said “Do you need a time out?” Mira nodded and Jade waited.
Mira shook her head after a while and said “I’m ready” and started walking in a circle around Jade. She didn’t want to be subjected to an unexpected explosion spell and she knew that lounging at Jade was a terrible idea.
Meanwhile Jade was elated, the ability to use various spells with useful and controllable effects was a boon to a schemer like him. He felt like a tiger that had grown wings. He didn’t wait for Mira to be ready and used another spell ‘Laser’ it was a modification of the Teni’s light producing spell.
As Mira walked she sensed danger from Jade coming at her in a line and she moved away from the line and saw a line of light flash through her previous location. Jade had expected Mira to dodge; her sensory ability made it almost impossible to hit her with sneak attacks, talk less of frontal attacks.
A laser suddenly hit Mira’s back before she could even assess the situation; Jade had simultaneously cast a Mirror spell with the Laser spell so the Laser Mira dodged had returned to hit her from behind. Jade sighed and said “I don’t think we should continue with this, I don’t think you can last more than two spells when facing me”. Mira sighed dejectedly and nodded.
Jade said “You can just focus on training for now. It would be best if you can develop a long range application of your skill. With a long range attack you should be able to stay outside of my reduced energy zone and only come close when you see an opening” and left. Mira wasn’t strong enough to be a sparring partner for him before but Magic had increased the difference in their power far more than her new skill could cover.
…
Jade spent the remaining 3 days upgrading his equipment with magic. He added a Distance Disregarding Communication System module to Mira’s space bracelet. When he was done with the upgrades he focused purely on Magic research. His new goal was to optimize the spells by finding new ways for them to work that didn’t necessarily adhere to scientific rules. His study materials were the spells that had effects that devices he made couldn’t emulate like the Funmi’s Energy Control spell.
Mira spent the days training her Energy Burst skills and trying to achieve some of the feats of her bubble armor. She first tried to make a ball of Burst energy that she could throw but she found the challenge quite impossible as the energy would release its explosion if it got far away from her. This showed her a limit of her skill that she had to overcome but she still wasn’t perfect at using the limited form of her skills so she still focused on training the skill and her sense skill normally in the spherical training room.

His invincible soul now unchained, surprises await him as he begins his new jouney in an unknown land. I'm just writing this for fun, but i'll never drop it. This won't be something short, as I have the very long term in mind, but I'm a total noob to writing, so I most likely won't release chapters very often, at least until I really get the hang of it. But, the chapters will always be several thousand words long. At the minimum 2k, maximum like 6k... Pretty big variations, sorry. If you like it, great. If you don't, that's understandable. Regardless, if you have a read, I'd appreciate feedback for areas you think I should improve on, whether it's the use of some words or how I should write something or WHATEVER. I'm open to anything, good or bad, because with your help, it'll help make this story better. **DISCLAIMER** So you don't waste your time, I want to let you know what you're getting into, because I like knowing ahead of time before I read something. This might appear like a Xianxia novel, but it's not. It only starts that way. This is a western fantasy world and setting that many of you are familiar with. The beginning chapters might be a bit of an info dump. Some of it might seems superfluous, but a lot of information is relevant to the story. The first few chapters might also seem rushed, but I'll try to keep it exclusive to those. This is a cliche, OP MC story with the typical harem, but other than the quick start, everything else will be gradual. There will be romance, and probably many moments at that, but don't expect anything TOO detailed. If you want something really steamy, look elsewhere. References and throwbacks to stuff most likely. The setting won't be really dark or really light. Middleground, I guess. The MC is far from a young kid, but he won't totally reflect his age. I don't plan on discarding info, abilities or characters that you KNOW should come back and be around. I see it a lot and it sort of bugs me haha... but I could have oversights, I dunno. As I said, I'm a noob. That's it, really. If you're interested, welcome to my world!
